Nothing much for the day as international’s and the Euro 2008 qualifiers, in particular, grabbed the headlines. So do we have any news concerning United? No, not really. Well, there is one but even that is just a transfer rumour that refuses to die. Other than that we will go on a slight tangent. Rest assured, today’s post won’t be too long. So read this quick and go about your day jobs. If you don’t you could always sit around refreshing this site, hoping for updates — something which wouldn’t happen till tomorrow, but for the comment section, of course.
Anyway, on to the roundup…

This is the final part of our three part series, where we take a look at our players’ performances so far this season. For the benefit of those who haven’t read the previous two — where we profiled the attack and midfield — here is Part I and Part II for you.
So sit back and read on as we get through what was, basically, an excuse to get through this international break which, by the way, has been going on forever.

This is part two of our three part series, looking back at our season so far. Player ratings are, admittedly, an objective way of looking at things. But with the current break giving us only pointless transfer rumours to chew about, we might as well look back at some of our players who’ve featured so far.
For those who missed Part I where we dwelt on our attackers, you can have a look at that here.
Today, as mentioned in the title, we will be taking a look at the midfield — more specifically this will be central midfield. We discussed wingers along with our attackers.

Despite being out of the roundup routine, there is surprising little to talk about today.
Unless you are interested in international friendlies. In which case, Ronaldo (and Nani, albeit as a sub) was involved in a 2-0 win for Portugal over Azerbaijan. Ronaldo made his 50th appearance for his country. Patrice Evra earned a start for France in a 6-0 rout of Faroe Islands. Vidic, Fletcher, O’Shea, Saha, Van der Sar were all injured, so didn’t figure for their respective countries. Also, goalkeepers Artur Boruc (Celtic) and Lukas Fabianski (Arsenal) were preferred over Tomasz Kuszczak — which isn’t bad news for us, is it?
And other than that, there was the England game, which I didn’t get to see much of, but Wayne Rooney had a good game. He finally did score after a while which is good for him. A lot of United websites were quite angry at the treatment meted out to Rooney by the media while Gerrard continues to be a darling of everyone. A lot of that is true to be honest. In fact a lot of United players do face a lot of stick while playing for England. (Remember Beckham?) Scott has a good article, as always, on that. So I’ll save my breath on that issue.

Now that the international break is well underway, it could be a fair enough time to look back at the season so far and reflect on the team’s performance. Well, it wasn’t necessarily electrifying to start with, but things have been picking up and, hopefully, we’ll continue in the same vein as we left off against Wigan.
So let’s look at our players — those who have played in the team — one by one.

Not too much going on. I will keep this short and return with a more detailed post later in the day to discuss parts of our season so far. So let’s get this done with for now.

Hello readers - Red Ranter is away (something about a Page 3 photo-shoot), so I’ll be filling in today. Be nice and leave a lot of comments

Boring day, I am sure, it’s going to be. So is the news. Slow as it could be. I even took a break yesterday from posting anything relevant. But again, I don’t think much was missed by the absence of the daily mandatory post of yesterday.
Anyway, we have to soldier on. I will probably get some posts out discussing about players and other things in the next few days, so we’ll have useful things to talk about. We could also talk about international football, but I wouldn’t be too arsed to have that discussed on this blog. Although, if someone is interested to write a bit on how our lads fared in the international games, be my guest. Of course, I’d expect a certain standard of writing that isn’t necessarily Shakespearean (who writes that kind of stuff these days anyway), but at least conforms to the basic framework of the English language. So there.
Moving on, let’s see what we can talk about today.

So back to another Monday and another longish looking week. In fact, the week looks longer now that there is no real football coming our way. At least not at club level.
So we’ll have to be prepared for however little news that pops up, now and then, as we try to negotiate the dry spell. Hmm… so what do we do in the meantime? Well, we could start counting sheep for starts; would help us catch some sleep. Or we could browse random football websites (and blogs) hoping for something sensational to come up.
Or, of course, we have the option of getting on with our regular lives — the offline one, that is. Pfft. On to today’s roundup.

It’s a very nice period, this. For weeks we have seen some underwhelming - but nonetheless, assured - stuff from United. 1-0 wins were the forte, built on a strong, mean defence and, arguably, a bit of luck at times to get goals — while not playing fluent football.
It was the proverbial second (or first) gear that we were playing in. Possession was dominant in all the games with the final third disappointing. But we always hoped (or dare we say, we knew) that, with the team and players we had, this kind of ground-out wins wouldn’t last too long. Some team was going to be spanked sooner or later. Not just us, even the manager concurred.
Can Manchester United score? They always score! But will they score heavily? That was the question.
So we waited and waited. Until yesterday.
