5 reasons why Tevez needs Manchester United

We’ll all talked about how Manchester United a reliable striker in the Berbatov mold to help us win the Champions League. And if you’ve been reading RedRants, we’ve also talked a lot about why Tevez would be as good, if not better, for United.

But what about Carlitos Tevez? How come no one has come out and talked about what would be best for the player?

So here are 5 top reasons why Carlos Tevez moving to Manchester United will be the BEST possible thing for his footballing career:

  1. Tevez will have the space to grow at Manchester United, and the stars to grow with. An attacking quintet of Nani, Ronaldo, Anderson, Tevez and Rooney will be a match for any European team.
  2. Manchester United have the necessary player experience (Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Heinze, EVDS and Ole) to help Tevez be a smarter player – we’ve already seen what Ronaldo and Rooney have become under the tutelage of Giggs and Scholes.
  3. Manchester United’s playing style marries the all-action offensive with tactical resilience and individual flair – a combination that defines the way Carlos Tevez plays. No other team in the Premiership can offer him that.
  4. Alex Ferguson’s track record for building superstars is better than any other manager in the Premiership – you can virtually guarantee that Tevez will be a world player of the year contender if he heads to United.
  5. He’s guaranteed titles with United.

One, I know that this is whimsical. Two, I’m aware that teams like Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea offer some of the above as well. But no team offers all of the above apart from United.

What do you guys think?

Couldn’t agree more, plus he’s exactly what we need. With Nani, Anderson, Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez it doesn’t matter if we won’t get any goals from headers, they’ll make fools of defenders on the ground – much like Barcelona 2 years ago.

But from Tevez’ point of view, there’s no better club than United. The direct passing of our game would be perfect for him, and he’d be able to make his 5-10 yards runs through defenses.

Plus the obvious… going to Arsenal or Liverpool would mean no titles for quite some time. Then there is the italian sides, he’s linked with, but the game down there is so slow compared to that of the EPL, which imo fits Tevez much better.

But we won’t get him, which is a shame.

Can’t see it happening. I think Italy is calling him strongly. He will probably join Inter in 2-3 weeks, or Arsenal. He has the talent, but I think SAF will look at a taller, more experienced head, probably Gudjohnson, which worries me. Eidur’s scoring record is 1 in 3 which is not suitable as a striker. (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidur_Gudjohnsen). All these reports just make things more frustrating. Huntelaar, torres, tevez, E’too etc, etc. The dutchman doesn’t impress me, Torres may (god forbid) waste his talent with the scousers or stay in madrid, E’too is most likely going nowwhere, so it could be frustrating for us upfront especially if Smith, Rossi and Dong go on loan or sale. Luckily Henry has left, and Drogba is off to to Africa so chelsea may struggle for goals too unless sheva comes good…
Could be the lowest scoring title race ever!! Come on United.

I’d actually like to see a striker who could be a threat in the air as well. With so many good wingers and tempo on the sides, we should opt for a player who could finish with both feet AND head. Tevez is brilliant, don’t get me wrong, but I personally think Torres would suit us better because of his height and the aerial threat he poses.

With Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, Giggs and Park to roam the wings, and even Gaz, Gabby, Pat and Wes coming up to make crosses it would be a shame to see the crosses wasted because we use two small, strong and outrageously skilled forwards who can’t challenge for a ball in the air. Rooney is first choice, we all know that. But I think Tevez is to similar as a player.

We have three players in United who can challenge in the air; Saha, Smith and Ronaldo. Ronaldo will be used as a winger, Smith hardly ever scores and seems set to leave, and Saha only plays a fraction of the games expected. With players like Rooney, Rossi, Solskjaer, Dong etc on top, how can we expect to challenge in the air?

Not our style of play you might say, but do we really want to be so one-dimensional? Only crossing along the ground and sticking balls in gaps behind the defense? Weaker teams will start to cause us problems by backing down into their own box and eliminating our depth of play. Carrick and Scholes could become redundant, and crosses from the wings could prove to be our only weapon against weaker opposition.

Torres, Huntelaar, Gudjohnsen or Afonso Alves could prove to be decent signings. These guys are all quick enough to be a part of a United lineup and more than capable of hurting the opposition along the ground and in the air.

But hey, that’s just my point of view.

I dont think Saviola would make it in England. I dont want a Spurs benchwarmer. I think someone who has proven they can play in the EPL and can spark the attack such as Tevez will be better for United. However with Rooney and Ronaldo it will be a more like an explosion. Notice how I didnt mention Nani and Anderson, because it will go against what I just said-> someone who is proven in the EPL.

The reason he said about going to Arsenal or Inter is because he thinks that he has a good chance of going there. That might not be the case though….Inter already have Crespo, Ibrahimovic and Adriano, and just bought David Suazo, plus they have Julio Cruz as a back-up, so they don’t need any more strikers, Arsenal do, but we aren’t sure how much they are willing to spend, and if he had he choice of Utd or Arsenal i think he’d come to us, I’m just not sure how much we really want him, but that seems to be the way we’re buying players, without letting people know who we’ll be buying next, except hargreaves, obviously, but I’m sure not man ypeople expected us to get Nani AND Anderson, so we’ll have to wait…but Gudjohnsen would be terrible.

Excellent post by Gravis. With all the speed and technical skill we have, the one thing lacking in our attack is a consistently solid aerial threat. The problem is that other than Torres, there really is no available player who can provide that threat. Rocky also made a good point about Tevez’s character. One can be assured that if he showed any insubordination or anything less than complete loyalty to the club, he would be sold immediately. SAF is not one to tolerate that sort of behavior and would not begin with Tevez.

just face it, Tevez wont come. Even though i wan’t it badly its not going to happend. Tevez is a south american person and would have a lot more easier to settle in a country such as Spain or Italy when the rainy north of england dont bring much glamour. But i dont know, lets hope Tevez is a person that thinks soccer after all and choose Man Utd. Otherwise players like Klose or Torres who imo are decent headers would intrest Sir Alex.

And no, United don’t ‘need’ a new striker, but they could sure use someone who is as good as Berbatov or Anelka :)

We have plenty of money – enough to bring in someone worth 10m – add money from sales to that and yea, 20m should be good.

Hargreaves has to agree personal terms and sign his contract, Nani and Anderson’s deals have to be completed, plus Anderson’s work permit has to be sorted out.

We are all assuming that Tevez will move though, maybe he will stay with the Hammers next season. He said that he would not be able to turn down a move to one of europes elite clubs but are any of them really going to make a move? He may yet simply stay at West Ham until a club comes in for him that is big enough to make him turn his giant head. That could be next week, or it could be next year.

I think every Utd supporter needs to be patient on the striker front at the minute. We have already snapped up 3 quick buys this summer and I wouldn’t be surprised if the striker rumours continued for another month before anything transpires.

There is a lot of talk that Smithy will leave, I dont see that happening quickly, if it happens at all. Personaly I would be rid of Saha first, great footballer but too injury prone for me.

I think Rossi has to come back, the boy is a potential world beater. He has grown up enormously during his 6 months at Parma even managing now to brush off defenders.

Tevez is a great headline but is most likely not to happen, he is too similar to Rooney. Torres looks for all intents and purposes to be Liverpool bound if he leaves Spain. Who does that leave?

Unlke a lot of people on here, I rate Gudjohnsen. He is an intelligent footballer but not what we need because Wayne is our brains in the front line. If anything we need a poacher, a new RVN

If people think we need a target man we have Dong, big strong lad so give him a chance. Smithy can do that job if we just want someone to win headers and hold up the ball. Saha is great at it but like I said above, too injury prone.

That then leaves Wayne and Rossi but lets not forget that Ronaldo knows were the net is, Anderson isn’t afriad to have a crack, Nani has shown he can put away his fair share at Lisbon so we have plenty of options up front.

To be honest guys if we went into next season with a striking line up of Rooney, Smith, (a fit) Saha, Rossi, Dong and super sub Ole I wouldn’t be too concerned. Ronaldo can chip in and play as a striker, so can Anderson. Scholes will score from midlfield when he plays.

I won’t dispute that a big name striker would help but I think we could get through with what we have. Lets not forget someone famously said you will never win anything with kids and SIr Alex is due to give a fresh batch a crack at the whip. Evans has been confirmed as the first to get a chance, as for the rest my money is on Pique, Rossi and Dong to make the step up into the first team squad. Mix them with the old heads of VDS, Gaz, Rio, Gabby, Scholes, Giggs and Ole and I think you have a formula for yet more success.

why would we want Tevez hes a player who seems to embody all the traits of rooney. I feel after buying 2 foreigners for our frontline and with the odds on for giggs being fazed out we need to work at giving rooney a player he can communicate with lets face it how can tevez and rooney play well together if they cant even say where they want the ball played. also a pure attacking forward line minus rooney leaves me feeling like we could ed up the equivalent of arsenal only wit portugese instead of english players taking over so no thanks for tevez!!!

I would much rather Man Utd signed Huntelaar than Tevez because the way he would compliment the rest of the team with his aerial ability and powerful runs would be ideal for the big void that was left by Van Nistelrooy and Huntelaar’s strike rate is more than a force to be reconed with so he would be a perfect addition to the squad (and he would cost the same as Tevez, if not less).

I believe that United and Tevez is a perfect match. We can make him grow and he can help us win quadruple.

The fact that he is somewhat similiar to Rooney is not a bad thing either. Anyone have any idea what we will do if Rooney get injured for a couple of weeks? At the moment, if something happens to Rooney and/or Ronaldo, we’re pretty screwed.

We don’t really need the aerial threat because we’re moving away from wing-play. Also, just because you’re tall does not mean you are better in the air. If SAF wanted aerial threat, he would have gone for Crouch or Vennegoor Of Hessilink (…something like that…).

Tevez, I believe, will be perfect (just as we are the perfect club for him). Problem is, SAF want him on loan, Inter is willing to pay big bucks, MSI needs a return on investment.

Ahmed, can this please be the last article regarding Tevez?

Blues Champion – there are rumours, nothing else, about Tevez. If he says that he’ll fit into Arsenal’s system (in response to a direct question asking him how he’d fit into their system) that doesn’t mean his heart is set on Arsenal.

Inter may go for him but they just signed Suazo so keep that in mind that they have an extra striker at the moment. Crespo doesn’t want to come back to England, so if he stays at Inter AND Inter move for Tevez that’s 2 strikers leaving Inter.

Karl – Part of the reason I wrote this article was to get a response from you :)

Why hasn’t anyone ever commented about perhaps signing Ronaldo (No.9)? With our discussion last time regarding old/experienced/lethal/cheap, I think he will fit the bill perfectly. Would be perfect for the development of the likes of Rossi. Strange that no one else seems to think so?

  30. Ahmed Bilal says:

Personally, would love to have him, but I don’t think it’s what SAF would do. I don’t think SAF would jettison Ole that easily (although we could be up for a surprise when Keano unveils Ole in July :) ), and Milan are happy too, so why bother?

People forget that we have 6 strikers on our books. 3 of them are good enough to play for United, 4th is young and untested, the other two can play as backups.

A fit Saha and a rampaging Rossi means we don’t need anyone.

Or has anyone forgotten that Anderson (support-striker my ass, he has the quality to play out-n-out forward) is coming in as well? I’d like to try him as a striker against the likes of Wigan and see what he does.

I would love to see Tevez wearing the UNITED shirt on his back!! he seems to of finally adapted to the premiership which can only be a good thing for united as he should settle instantly, as we all know how important it is to get off to a good start.

If he does decide to go to Inter then they must release at least 1 striker. Including Tevez they’ll have Crespo Imbrahimovic, Adriano Cruz and Suazo. suazo has just signed and Crespo has just agreed a new deal 2 stay another year. if imbrahimovic or adriano are availble then i think SAF should take a good look at both of them, as they have youth on their side, and are both world class in the air an and with their feet. They both also have power and great movement.

i think gudjohnsen or huntlaar would be taking 1 step back, and its a shame to see Torres heading to the scum, he must enjoy winning nothing and wasting his talents at poor clubs ha ha.

Tevez has shown interest in Inter due to the presence of other Argentinians there. Although definitely a weak reason, this is what the player believes. I personally agree with you. Due to the pace offered by EPL in general and ManU in particluar, Tevez may fit absolutely well over here. Italy and Spain are better choices for aging players due to slow-paced tactical gameplay over there.

Not sure about the whole ‘need’ for aerial ability thing. How many times in a match does Ronaldo cross the ball? I’m not saying he can’t cross i’m just saying he doesn’t and Nani doesn’t seem like he gets too many crosses in either. I think that Saviola would be a better buy than Tevez. We get him for free and he’s only 25 and has pace and would fit in well up front and if he doesn’t then sell him next Summer for 5-10 million profit.
