The Grog is right, celebrate all we want now but when we're honest (and sober)the bitter taste of the double loss to 'Pool will still haunt us.

My Scouser mate keeps taunting me with it, that it takes the gloss of us being Champions. Well I say he can well hold on to that point as the years without winning anything piles up on him and then he dies. Let's beat Barca and that's another trophy to taunt the Scousers with. And let's do them good next season, cant wait.

Jon, you are a genius. Have you got the tix for when United come over to Malaysia ?

@Fred The Red: What I see is a very thin line of separation and when that line is so thin, hypothetical if's and buts play a big role in concluding who is best and who is lucky. And trust me, we were lucky a lot this season. Yes we are champions but we are not resounding champions who know they are better because they won comfortably or at least because they dominated the other top 3 teams over the years. We won by a nose hair and for me that's not good enough. What you and everyone else who have complained to understand in my argument is that I look at things differently than you or most of the fans out there who just define a win as a win. I have said on numerous occasions that I am a bit of an elitist and a perfectionist when it comes to my tastes and desires in sports and entertainment. I can handle my team finishing second or third if I can clearly see they are not good enough, but I have a harder time when I see a team who wins it when I know that they aren't as good as their victories proclaim.

A lot of factors come in to play on the road to a championship and United just had a break or two more than Liverpool. The difference between them is a an if or a but, because against us, they were the better team this year, and that will always sit and fester in my soul. Had we lost to them twice and badly but finished second, I wouldn't be so upset.

I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that in my life I have followed 6 sports with great passion and interest and 7 leagues as well as International football for countries. I have seen too many of my teams or the enemies win and lose and in my day I have seen a lot of unworthy and highly overrated teams get crowned champions while seeing many far better teams lose and in many cases get cheated or screwed out of a title. So many factors from referees, to weather to injuries to fatigue and scheduling have played major roles in often crowning the wrong team. Now my bias tells me the right team was crowned yesterday simply because I hate the Scouse and because I love United. But if I am honest with myself, only 1/3 of our team could really rejoice with this triumph. Our defensive unit who did a masterful and consistent job all year. Our midfield and attack was for the most part in shambles all season. And we lucked out on many results where we never deserved the three points.

Being a bit of a perfectionist never allows you to just inject the moment into your system and let it just happen. You cannot help but over analyze the team, the games the scenarios that defined the team's entire campaign.
When it comes to Europe I have no problem saying that United are the best team. They did all that was asked of them and they were especially great warriors on the road when they had to be. Winning in Rome would make them worthy champions where Barcelona are incredibly undeserving as I still feel the referee secured their spot in the final because Chelsea were by far the superior team to them. That kind of realistic and honest perspective comes from not just a fan of a team or the game, but truly a student and objective mind. And whether that is appreciated or respected on Red Rants, that is what I am. I will and always call it as I see it, not just as a pro United supporter.
