Sanchez urges Arsenal to sign Hernandez – report

Alexis Sanchez has urged Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to sign Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window, according to Don Balon.

Hernandez joined Bayer Leverkusen this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United by Louis van Gaal.

The Mexican has flourished since moving to Germany, scoring 22 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for club and country this term.

Sanchez, who is currently injured, has been impressed by Hernandez and wants Arsenal to sign him in January.

Hernandez was a fans’ favourite at United prior to his departure and it would come as a bitter blow if he joined and did well at Arsenal.

The potential move would compound the misery supporters have felt over Hernandez as he continues to score goals for Bayer while United struggle in front of goal. The hope is that Louis van Gaal has one or two targets of his own lined up as United are in desperate need of some attacking impetus.

Why United need a new manager for 2016

Manchester-United-v-Norwich-City-Premier-LeagueDecember tends to be the time when resolutions for the upcoming year are put in place and the events of the last 12 months are often reassessed.

However, Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United are unlikely to dwell for too long on what this year delivered and will in fact want to bid it as swift a farewell as possible.

Cresswell: West Ham don’t need motivation

West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has insisted that his side will need no motivation ahead of the game against Manchester United this weekend.

Man United currently sit third in the Premier League table, while West Ham are eighth following a good start to the campaign.

Slaven Bilic’s side have already beaten the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal on the road this season and Cresswell is confident that they can take away a positive result from Old Trafford.

“We don’t need any motivation playing at Old Trafford,” Cresswell said.

“They are a fantastic team and are third in the league. We need to go there and try and get something out of the game.”

West Ham enjoyed some superb results during the early stages of the season but they’re progress has been hampered somewhat due to injuries to key players such as Dimirti Payet and Diafra Sakho.

However, they still pose a big threat and Louis van Gaal will undoubtedly have his players prepared for every eventuality ahead of the match. Van Gaal also has to figure out how to give his side some more cutting edge as United have struggled up top in recent weeks.

Strongest XI: Man United vs CSKA Moscow

There is no denying that Manchester United have a problem right now and although Louis van Gaal doesn’t seem to accept it, fans are well aware how much Wayne Rooney‘s presence is hindering the team.

It’s more the indirect presence of him than his performances themselves because of how it displaces Anthony Martial’s position. The Frenchman scored three goals up front for Man United but has since gone a few games without finding the back of the net because he is now stuck out on the left wing.

Seemingly, the only way for Martial to go back in as the No.9 is without Rooney. For some reason, van Gaal doesn’t even want to play United’s captain in the No.10 role – technically, that could see both play but if we are to have one isolated striker then that has to be Martial.

Rooney up front is not the sole cause of United’s problem right now but one game without him and Martial leading the attack is exactly what everybody wants to see.

Testimonials are usually given to players at the end of their career and the money raised gave some security to footballers at a time when they could earn more in an everyday job. These days the money is given to charity and Rooney will be donating to children’s charities via his Wayne Rooney Foundation.
