Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Possible Lineups & Key Stats

Manchester United kick off the Premier League season for a second consecutive year but will be hoping for a better result than 12 months ago when Swansea City took three points away from Old Trafford in Louis van Gaal’s first match in charge.

Tottenham Hotspur are the visitors this season, thrashed 3-0 by the Red Devils in this fixture only five months ago. Mauricio Pochettino has added to his defence over the summer but their summer dealings look far inferior compared to the hosts.

Van Gaal has brought in German centurion Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, the highly-coveted Morgan Schneiderlin, goalscoring threat Memphis Depay, a solid right-back in Matteo Darmian and backup goalkeeper Sergio Romero – all of whom are available to make their debut on Saturday.

There were only six points between these two last season and this is arguably the most-anticipated match of the opening weekend. Manchester United look set to mount a stronger title challenge this season and are the bookmakers favourites to finish ahead of Tottenham in the league, but they will need a couple of more signings and show more consistency before they can genuinely displace Chelsea at the top of the pile.

Man Utd transfer roundup: Di Maria and Rafael to leave

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Monday was dominated by two players who are set to leave Old Trafford in the coming days – Angel di Maria and Rafael.

Di Maria has been pictured in Doha ahead of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, while Lyon have confirmed Rafael will join on a four-year deal.

As for incomings, Ed Woodward has reportedly flown out to Barcelona to complete a deal for Spanish forward Pedro.

There were hopes that he would be joined by Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos but a fresh report from Deportes claims that he will instead sign a new long-term deal with the Spanish club.

Meanwhile, PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted that he could have played his last game for the Parisians.

It is an interestingly timed comment given Di Maria’s impending move to PSG and the fact that Louis van Gaal hinted he is in the “process” of signing a mystery player last month. Could he be coming to Old Trafford? Probably not, but one can dream!

Di Maria taken off with suspected injury in Copa America final

Angel di Maria had to be taken off with a suspected hamstring injury in the Copa America final.

The Manchester United winger was running at full pace before he pulled up and he wasn’t able to run it off, so he had to be substituted.

Di Maria, 27, will be devastated to have gone off in the Copa America final having missed the World Cup final because of an injury as well.

In both the World Cup and Copa America, Di Maria played an important role in Argentina earning their place in the final, so it is a real shame for him to have had such bad luck with injuries.

Man United fans will understandably be concerned about any injury for Di Maria because it was so crucial for him to have a proper pre-season in order to start well next year.

Hopefully Di Maria’s injury is nothing too serious but it looks like it could be a hamstring problem. We’ll bring you an update as soon as there is one.

Here is a video of Di Maria’s injury:

Who Is The ‘Manchester United’ Of Australian Soccer Teams

Tag: General Football @ 8:03 am

Manchester-United-v-Manchester-City (1)Who is the Manchester United of Australia soccer? It’s an interesting question, given Man U’s reputation. Manchester United is easily one of the most popular soccer teams in the world, and it has fans everywhere. If an Australia team can measure up, it means that they too share a rabid fan base. Establishing just who is the best team in the country is a contentious process, and one that will undoubtedly get many soccer fans mad. As a hypothetical question, though, it is interesting. Who, after all, can really measure up to a team that is that famous across the world?

In terms of success and fan appeal, it seems that Melbourne Victory probably clinches the top spot as Australia’s big team. It certainly has the most championships in the national league, and it has enough fans that they tend to dominate any online conversations about Australian soccer. It’s just as easy to say, though, that Manchester United is still the Manchester United of Australia, though. They’re incredibly popular in the country, and any local appearance by the team is sure to sell out quickly. Popularity isn’t confined to one nation, after all – but if you’re going local, you’re going to Melbourne.

In the end, though, it doesn’t matter which team is really the best – it changes every year, and most people don’t have the luxury of always being right. What really matters is how fans support their team, and how they show it. There are fans of soccer clubs all over Australia that might not be behind the biggest or the best, but they’re certainly just as loud and proud as supporters of any other club. That’s what makes soccer so special, and what makes so many fans look for ways to engage in activities that will show exactly how much they love their team.

One of the most common ways that fans show just who they support is, perhaps surprisingly, online casino games. Over the past few years  online casino games have become very popular in Australia and supporters of various clubs play these games, some for pure entertainment purposes  and others to fund their favorite football teams and to get the funds so watching their favorite teams becomes a reality.

There are soccer clubs of all sizes in Australia, and it seems safe to say that it’s the fans, not the size of the club, that matters. Supporters go all out to show that their teams are the best, and that support has made its way into the online gaming sphere. If you really want to show that you are a fan of the best team in Australia, it’s a great idea to register a name and to take a look at what online games are out there. Being affiliated to the online gaming world, will give you the opportunity to not only fund your betting, but you will be able to buy all the latest apparel as well as tickets to live games and especially  show your support to all your soccer hero’s live.

Schmeichel: “United need to send a message with De Gea’s deal”

Tag: Manchester United News @ 1:28 pm

Manchester-United-v-Burnley (1)Peter Schmeichel has urged Manchester United to extend David De Gea’s contract in a bid to send a strong message to other Premier League and European clubs.

The 51-year-old has suggested that a new deal for the Spanish keeper, whose contract expires at the end of next season, would not only strengthen United but it would also reiterate their intention to remain competitive.
