Southampton v Manchester United - Premier LeagueLuke Shaw could become the world’s most expensive teenager beating a record previously set by Wayne Rooney, after Manchester United have reportedly raised their bid for the Southampton left-back to an eye-watering £34m.

Shaw, who is set to make his first start in a competitive match for England today when Roy Hodgson’s men face Costa Rica in their final World Cup game, was subject of a £27m offer from United last month, which was swiftly refused by Southampton, who are under no pressure at all to sell one of their stars.

large_275f15e2ad0a0f4d301d0bfdfae12c8f7c939016Manchester United’s quest for a new centre-back could soon become more complicated as reports in the Dutch press suggest Porto are ready to open talks with Feyenoord for the signature of 22-year-old Bruno Martins Indi, who, alongside a number of other members of the Holland squad, was reportedly on Louis Van Gaal’s radar.

Ducth football magazine Voetbal International claims that the Portuguese club are looking to make the most of United’s current situation – with Van Gaal set to be involved with Holland until the round of 16 at least – and pip United in the race for the centre-back, with Feyenoord thought to be open to discussion for a fee of around £6.5m.

Tag: Transfer Rumours @ 9:31 am

eliaquim-mangalaManchester United will face strong competition from Chelsea in their quest to sign Porto and France centre-back Eliaquim Mangala, after Barcelona pulled out of the race for the 23-year-old, who’s been on United’s radar for months now.

The French international looked poised to move to Manchester City at the end of the season, but the Premier League champions have since cooled their interest after reports suggested Mangala himself wasn’t particularly keen to moving to the Etihad and would prefer a move to either United or Chelsea.

wilfried-zaha-manchester-united_3004830Wilfried Zaha could make a surprise return to Crystal Palace this summer if, as expected, the South London will enquire about their former player once their manager, Tony Pulis, returns from Brazil where he’s been on commentary duties for the World Cup.

United signed the 21-year-old for £15m in January 2013, beating Arsenal in the race to the player many considered one of English football’s hottest property, before allowing Zaha to remain at Selhurst Park for the remainder of the season, one which ended with Palace promoted to the Premier League thanks also to his eight goals and 10 assists.

Defender denies United link

Vermaelen_2942911bArsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has played speculations linking him with a move to Old Trafford this summer and insisted he’s happy to fight for his place at the Emirates, despite losing his place in the starting XI to Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.

Earlier this week, the Telegraph reported that the 28-year-old had agreed a deal in principle with United to move to Old Trafford in the summer, as United and Arsenal were expected to sit down in an attempt to reach an agreement for the transfer of the Belgium international, whose contract at the Emirates runs out in 12 months.

2,w=650,c=0.bildManchester United target Toni Kroos has admitted his future remains up in the air after revealing that he’s no closer to committing his future to Bayern Munich, despite the fact that two of his teammates, Philip Lahm and Thomas Mueller, have put pen to paper on new deals with the 2012-13 European champions.

Lahm, the Germany and Bayern captain, extended his contract until 2018 while Mueller, who netted a hat-trick as Germany dismantled Portugal 4-0 in their first game at the World Cup, will remain with the Bavarian club until 2019 but the impasse over Kroos’ deal is still far from being resolved.

Defender wants United exit

Alex ButtnerAlex Buttner has claimed that Louis Van Gaal’s arrival at Manchester United has convinced him it’s time to bring his United career to an end and he’ll leave Old Trafford in the summer, with Russian Premier League outfit Dynamo Moscow his most probable destination.

The Dutch left-back was a surprise signing from Vitesse Arnhem two years ago and failed to establish himself at United, playing just 28 times for the first team – even though, bizarrely, he claimed he was named man of the match 14 times over his first two seasons at the club – and with Patrice Evra extending his contract for another 12 months and Southampton’s Luke Shaw firmly on Van Gaal’s radar, Buttner’s time at United is very much up.
