City star Aguero charged by FA, could miss Manchester United clash

Sergio Aguero

The Football Association (FA) have confirmed they have charged Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero for an alleged act of violent conduct for his incident during his side’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United.

The Argentine international was involved in an incident where he punched the Hammers player Winston Reid with elbow in the 76th minute of the match at the Etihad last weekend. The former Atletico Madrid star’s behaviour was caught on camera, but was not noticed by match referee Andre Mariner.

However, the video replay shows that Aguero has been guilty and City star has until 6pm on August 31 to respond to those charges.

A statement on the FA’s official website read, ” Sergio Aguero has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.”

“The Manchester City forward was involved in an incident with West Ham United’s Winston Reid in the 76th minute of the game on Sunday [28 August 2016]. He has until 6pm on Wednesday 31 August to reply.”

“Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite match officials.

“Each panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision of the panel must be unanimous.”

According to the Mirror, Aguero could be slapped with a three match ban for his violent conduct. This means City star striker will miss the Manchester derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break on 10 September.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

Manchester United have confirmed their defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has left Old Trafford temporarily and completed a loan switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of the Red Devils’ youth system and was one of the star players for United’s Under-21 side in the last season. His form saw being voted as United’s Under-21 Player of the Year earlier in May.

Under the guidance of Louis van Gaal, Borthwick-Jackson was handed the first team debut due to the lack of options in the left-back position. Luke Shaw suffered a horrific injury, which kept him out of action for the majority of the previous campaign.

The left-back made 14 appearances for the Premier League giants and following the arrival of Jose Mourinho, Borthwick-Jackson signed a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2020.

A statement on United’s official website read, “Talented Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has joined Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the rest of the 2016/17 season.”

“The Mancunian played in the Reserves’ first Premier League 2 game of 2016/17, against Leicester City, and will now link up with Walter Zenga’s side at Molineux as he bids to gain more first-team experience.”

Wolves are in the Championship and Borthwick-Jackson will be looking to gain first team experience and also help them make it to the Premier League next season.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that his side are open to completing transfers in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already added four new faces to their side in the current window. The list includes the likes of central defender Eric Bailly, star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and midfielder Paul Pogba. The France international rejoined his former club from Juventus for a world-record fee of £89 million earlier this month.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager was attending his pre-match press conference on Thursday as United prepare for their first home game against Southampton at Old Trafford on Friday, August 19. In his first press conference as the manager of the Premier League giants, Mourinho admitted that he is targeting four specialists signings, something he and his club have achieved this summer.

United boss admitted that he is content with the business done so far, but refused to suggest that his have concluded the business in this window.

“The market is open until 31 August, but I am very happy with the players I have. I keep saying that I don’t talk about players from other clubs,” Mourinho explained, as reported by United’s official website.

United started the Premier League with a comfortable 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth. He is now preparing for his first match at Old Trafford and Mourinho has admitted that how his side can bring the fear factor back at Old Trafford.

“Not me, but the team, yes. The fans can also help. Everything starts there: the relationship between the team and the fans. If there is a connection then the factor of being really strong at home has to back. The way we play [will help] and if the fans play [a part] there’ll be no chance for the opponent,” United manager explained.

Manchester United’s Mourinho urged to complete triple signing after Pogba capture

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been urged to completed three more signings in the summer transfer window by the former Red Devils defender Paul Parker.

The Premier League giants have already added four new faces, which includes the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba. The latter returned to Old Trafford from Juventus for a world-record transfer fee of £89 million.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager earlier admitted that he wanted four specialists in his team and with Pogba’s acquisition, he has completed that. However, Parker believes Mourinho’s side are still needs a central defender, midfielder and a striker in the current transfer window if they have to win the league this season.

“They still need a forward and a centre-half and another midfield player. Manchester United aren’t finished yet; they can’t be because that present squad just isn’t going to win the league and Mourinho is all about winning the league,” Parker told

United started the campaign with a 3-1 comfortable victory over AFC Bournemouth last Sunday. Parker believes it is difficult to judge whether his former club will finish in top four this campaign.

“Would you say United can even finish top four after what we saw in the Bournemouth game? I’d have to say not really,” he added.

“Liverpool look good and Arsenal will improve. Tottenham and Chelsea are hard to break down and will be in there.

“So United have some work to do between now and the end of August to bring in at least three players to guarantee a Champions League spot and maybe win the league.”

Liverpool legend labels Manchester United star as rough diamond

Zlatan Ibrahimovic-Eric Bailly

Liverpool legend Jamie Redknapp has labelled Manchester United new star Eric Bailly as a “rough diamond” and has backed the defender to become a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

The Ivory Coast international became Jose Mourinho’s first signing since he was appointed as the Red Devils’ manager in May. He arrived in the Premier League from Villarreal and has started in all the matches, including the pre-season fixtures, the Community Shield and even the Premier League opener against AFC Bournemouth.

While on the pitch, Bailly has been impressive and his display in the first Premier League match of the 2016-17 season saw him bag the man of the match award as United sealed a 3-1 win at the Vitality Stadium.

Redknapp has been closely following the centre-back since the pre-seasons and has been impressed with his playing style. He also added that his ability to move forward with the ball will help the midfielders at Old Trafford.

“I was so impressed with Bailly. He’s a rough diamond. We all make mistakes. He’s raw, he’s quick. I watched his first game against Wigan and he kept diving in and I thought he’s got a lot to work on,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“But he’s a midfielder’s dream because he can also play. He’ll pop the ball into midfield at times, he’s got great pace, he’s uncompromising. Man Utd fans are going to love him.

“He is a very, very good defender. He doesn’t mess around – when it’s got to go, he’ll kick it forward. He is very strong and could be money well spent.

“[He played] Alongside Daley Blind, who I also thought played very well today. Before the game, I thought they’d have problems with the front three of Bournemouth but they didn’t really. They were composed and I was very impressed with Bailly.”

Chris Smalling was suspended for the clash against Bournemouth. It should be seen whether the England international will partner Bailly in the heart of the back four for United or will he play alongside Blind in the upcoming fixtures.

Mourinho explains how his strategy helped Manchester United to complete summer signings

Tag: Manchester United @ 7:00 am

Jose Mourinho has expressed his delight after Manchester United’s transfer strategy paid off in the current summer window. He admitted that he analysed the Red Devils’ squad since he was sacked from his post at Chelsea last December and suggested how that helped the 53-year-old coach in completing his transfer business.

The Red Devils have added four quality players this summer, which includes the likes of defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovi?, playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba, who left United as a free agent in 2012 rejoined them from Juventus for a world-record fee of £89 million and was the Old Trafford club’s fourth addition of the summer transfer window.

Despite not being in the Champions League, United were able to attract star players. They are arguably, if not the best, but one of the best in the respective leagues they played in the last season.

In his first press conference, Mourinho admitted that he wanted to bring in four players. The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager is delighted to have completed those business even before the start of the new season.

“First of all, I didn’t buy these players. I don’t have enough money to pay these amounts! Credit should go to the club and the potential the club has, not just financially, but in what the club means to the world of football, which helps attract players,” Mourinho explained, as quoted by United’s official website.

“I think I gave a contribution because I was very objective. I think some managers have doubts and find it difficult to decide. The clubs get the impression that you are not so sure on a signing. I was objective from day one.

“Of course, I have been in the country for many years  and was able to watch United many times from December, so I had an idea about the squad. When I arrived, I was ready to be objective and could say what I wanted to have and explain the numbers I wanted for each position. That way, if you could not get option one, you go for the second or third.

“Every time, I made a written report to the board, the board could feel consistency in the analysis,” he continued. “The targets were there on the table, so, after that, the club’s powers did everything. They were very strong, doing everything before the 14th. They could do it by 30 August, but no, they did everything much earlier. I am very happy with the market.”
