Manchester United completed their fourth signing of the summer transfer window as Paul Pogba returned to Old Trafford from Juventus.

The 23-year-old left the Red Devils as a free agent in 2012 and joined the Turin club, where he won four league titles along with other silverware. His form for both club and also France attracted interest from the Premier League giants.

United re-signed him for a world record fee of £89 million on the day after they defeated Leicester City 2-1 to win the 2016 Community Shield. Jose Mourinho’s side take on AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League opener later this Sunday and the France international will not feature against them.

Pogba has already started training with the Old Trafford club and has reunited with some of the former players at United. In addition to this, he has also joined other players at United’s first team training session on Friday.

A statement on United’s official website read, “New Manchester United signing Paul Pogba was part of the squad that featured in a session at the Aon Training Complex on Friday morning, as the Reds continued preparations for the opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Sunday.”

Manchester City have confirmed they have completed the signing of Manchester United defender target John Stones on August 9, Tuesday.

The 22-year-old left Everton and made a switch to the Etihad, signing a six-year deal with Pep Guardiola’s side. Before he joined City, he was also a target for their local rivals as the Sun reported that the England international was wanted by the Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, who is an admirer of the central defender.

United manager is looking to further strengthen his side’s back four for the 2016-17 Premier League season, having already added Eric Bailly to the squad.

However, Stones decided to join City as he became their eighth signing of the current summer transfer window. They have already added Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Aleksandar Zinchenko, Aaron Mooy, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Marlos Moreno this summer.

A statement on City’s official website read, ” Manchester City are delighted to announce the permanent transfer of John Stones from Everton. The England international defender has signed a six-year deal which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2022.”

Stones will wear No 24 shirt at City and he explains why he decided to join the former Barcelona manager at the Etihad. He also went on to thank Everton and wished them lick for the upcoming campaign.

“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for City and now the deal’s done I’m looking forward to the next stage in my career,” Stones told City’s official website.

“I’ve obviously seen what’s going on here at the Etihad, it’s an ambitious Club with a great manager so I can’t wait to get stuck in and help achieve the goals.

“I know it will be tough getting a place in this team but I’m determined to become the best player I can be and help us to success. I had a wonderful time with Everton and wish them and their fans all the best but now I’ll give my all for City.”

Manchester United have confirmed they have completed the signing of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba on Monday.

The 23-year-old has returned to Old Trafford, four years after leaving the Red Devils as a free agent in 2012. He joined the Turin club, where he established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. He won four league titles with the Old Lady.

Pogba, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus was also a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid. The Champions League winner’s coach Zinedine Zidane was also looking at the option of signing the France international in the summer transfer window, according to the Express.

However, the French midfielder snubbed a chance to join the 11-time European champions in favour of United. He has signed a five-year deal with United, with an option to further extend it by one more year.

A statement on United’s official website read, “Manchester United is delighted to announce that Paul Pogba has completed his transfer from Italian club Juventus. Paul joins on a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year.”

“Paul, 23, has been with Juventus for four seasons, making 124 appearances and scoring 28 goals. He joined the Bianconeri from United in 2012. The midfielder has been capped by France on 38 occasions, scoring 6 goals and was a member of the recent squad that reached the final of Euro 2016.”

Timeline set for Manchester United to complete fourth summer signing

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed the Red Devils will complete their fourth signing before the end of next week. This has hinted that Juventus star Paul Pogba could be edging closer towards completing a switch to England.

The 23-year-old left Old Trafford as a free agent four years ago and is currently one of the best midfielders in Europe. His form for both club and country has seen him attract interest from Jose Mourinho’s side.

Earlier, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager admitted that he is not willing to talk about players of other teams, when asked about Pogba rumours. The France international is a target for United and is linked with a world-record move to rejoin his former club.

The 2016-17 Premier League season will kick start next weekend and United will take on AFC Bournemouth in the first match of the new campaign. Mourinho remains hopeful that his side can complete their fourth signing of the summer transfer window before August 14.

“I don’t like to speak about other players. Other managers like to do that. What matters to me is only what happens in my house, not the house of my neighbour. Pogba is a Juventus player until officially he isn’t. It stays like this,” Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by ESPN FC.

“Honestly, the market closes on Aug. 31, but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before Aug. 14. So hopefully be next week we will have our squad closed.”

Manchester United have been beaten by Manchester City in the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus. The Citizens confirmed the capture of the Palmerias star on August 3, Wednesday.

The Brazil international, who was a initially part of the national squad for the 2016 Copa America Centenario in the United States. However, an issue with his passport forced him to withdraw from the squad.

Jesus, who was wanted by the Red Devils as the Brazilian publication Globoesporte reported that United were ready to pay a fee of €38 million. However, the 19-year-old has decided against joining Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford in favour of playing under his City counterpart Pep Guardiola.

City confirmed that Jesus will continue with Palmerias until the end of the calendar year and will be at the Etihad from January 2017. A statement on City’s official website read, “Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras.”

“Gabriel Jesus is recognised as one of South America’s most exciting talents and he was named “best newcomer” in the 2015 Serie A Campeonato.

“The 19-year old has signed for Manchester City FC despite strong interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world. He will join the team in January 2017, with a contract that runs until the end of the 2020/21 season. He will remain at Palmeiras until December 2016.”

City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain remains hopeful that the South American forward can hit the ground in the Premier League when he moves to England next year.

“We are delighted that Gabriel has chosen to join us. He is one of the most exciting young prospects in world football and plays the game in a spectacular way. We look forward to him making a big impact at Manchester City in January,” Begiristain said, as quoted by City’s official website.

Manchester United v Everton, Wayne Rooney’s testimonial: Confirmed XI

Wayne Rooney’s testimonial will see Manchester United take on the England international’s former club Everton at the Red Devils’ home ground, Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

The fixture will see Jose Mourinho take charge at Old Trafford for the first time since he was appointed as the Premier League giants’ manager in May. The former Chelsea manager replaced Louis van Gaal at United after the Dutchman was relieved from his duties after he guided them to the FA Cup triumph.

United have signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovi? and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer transfer window. The trio could be seen in action when the 20-time English champions face the Merseyside club.

It will be the Red Devils’ last friendly fixture, before they take on Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield at the Wembley Stadium later this weekend. Rooney admitted that he could be emotional before and after the match.

Manchester City have managed to beat Manchester United in the signing of German international Leroy Sane.

The 20-year-old was spotted in Manchester after Schalke confirmed their player was in England ahead of his proposed move to the Premier League. According to The Daily Mail reported that the Red Devils were looking at the option of signing the winger in the summer transfer window in order to bolster their squad for the new season.

Sane was also wanted by Pep Guardiola at the Etihad. He decided to join City and became their fifth summer signing of the current transfer window.

The winger, who is one of the brightest prospects in Germany has left the Bundesliga outfit and signed a five-year deal to play under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager on Tuesday. Sane will be wearing No 19 shirt at his new club.

A statement on City’s official website read, “Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Leroy Sane from Schalke 04. The German international becomes our fifth signing of summer 2016 and will wear the No.19 shirt.”

“Sane has signed a five-year deal which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2021.”

After signing for City, Sane expressed his delight on becoming Guardiola’s fifth signing at his new club. He said, “I feel really good, I’m happy to be here and happy that it has all worked out. Now I can settle here in Manchester and play for City.”

“One of the reasons I decided to join City was Pep Guardiola; he convinced me to come here and that I can continue to progress. I know I will learn a lot under him and now I can take the next step in my career.

“I followed Pep at Barcelona and at Bayern where he achieved a lot and worked really well with young players.

“I think he can make me a more complete player. I think I will need a bit of time to start with because it’s another league and there’s a different style of play but I think I can adapt very quickly.”

Manchester City are edging closer towards completing a deal in signing Manchester United summer target Leroy Sane in the summer transfer window after Schalke confirmed the player is in Manchester on August 1, Monday.

“Leroy #Sané is currently in Manchester and will not be travelling  with #Schalke to the training camp. #s04,” Schalke’s official Twitter account tweeted.

The 20-year-old has been linked with both City and United after his impressive display in the Bundesliga last term, which saw him score eight goals has seen him attract interest from both the clubs in Manchester. The Daily Mail report suggests the Red Devils were looking at the option of signing him, who is valued around £40 million this summer.

However, that Sane is set to snub Jose Mourinho’s side and BBC reports claim he will join their local rivals City this summer. Pep Guardiola even confirmed that the Premier League outfit are looking at the option of bringing the Schalke star to the Etihad in the current transfer window.

“Of course we talk to him – Schalke know we are interested but at this moment we don’t have many possibilities to get him,” Guardiola said.

“There is a difference [in opinion] between Manchester City and Schalke and it is quite big. I do not know what is going to happen but right now he is with Schalke,” the former Barcelona manager added.

There were even pictures of Sane spotted in Manchester, which was reported by The Mirror.
