Another good morning, all.
Not much happening around. There was the Carling Cup where Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and some other team, that I am unable to recall, managed to progress. But who cares about the Carling Cup anyway!

So the festive season is well and truly on. The Anfield win just makes things feel a lot more special. However, the busy period has just begun and we will be stupid if we thought the title has been all but wrapped up. We have another Scouse team to deal with — in the form of Everton — and they have proven this season that they are no mugs. More on them when we get closer to the date of the clash.
Meanwhile, Cristiano must be feeling a wee bit sick in the stomach. After being kept quiet for much of the Liverpool game, he would have been shocked to see himself finish third — behind Lionel Messi — in the FIFA World Player of the Year Award. It’s one thing finishing second best on two previous awards. But finishing behind a player who, despite his obvious talents, has not really won anything of note and yet is in the fray, would be rather gutting for an ambitious lad like Ronaldo.
Oh well, the FIFA Awards are a sham; sour grapes, and all that.

United continue their dominance over Liverpool as another 1-0 win pushed the ‘dippers further away from the title race. A joyful day for us reds, which would have been better had it not been for some toothless display from Chelsea, it was — in the words of Fergie — “a typical encounter” against our traditional rivals. But it was also a display that brought another facet of our team to the fore.

Aaah! My head hurts! But it’s good to be back, nonetheless.
Ahmed shared some thoughts on how to beat Liverpool. Of course, it attracted some hyper-active scouse bastards on here to spew their venom. We didn’t find any of those comments remotely courteous/balanced enough to be approved. So needless to say, we duly banned them.
On second thoughts, we should have approved those comments for their sheer entertainment value — sometimes cretinous comments add value, you see!
On third thoughts, hoping for sensible comments from their lot was always going to be one of those false dawns — not too different from their title hopes for the last million years.

There may not be enough time for me to do a Roma preview tomorrow so I’d rather do it today.
For the discerning ones, who are curious to know the reason behind my reduced involvement in the affairs of this blog, let me assure you that things will be back to normal for sure. The first two weeks of December was always going to be an exceptionally busy period in my life and this mad couple of weeks would end on the 15th for me; after which things will return to the usual. That I could find time to post in spite of all this was a miracle, if you ask me. (Thanks, of course, to Ahmed who chipped in.)
Anyway, on to the preview…

So as expected, United comfortably saw off Derby County on their way to a 4-1 win. Giggs opened the scoring, Tevez added two and Ronaldo capped it off at the death, converting a penalty.

It’s been quite a week for me, so it should come as some sort of relief to be back finally. Much thanks to Ahmed for chipping in as usual and preventing the site from rotting away. Of course, a more than cursory nod is in order for the readers who kept dropping by while participating in the banter in the comments thread. Needless to say, you people form the other half of this site — the better half, that is.
Anyway, onto the game and we face Derby County today — a club that could easily be termed as among the worst ones to have ever played in the Premiership. Bookmakers, fans and pundits alike predict a goal fest. The manager also expects more goals from the side - expecting the players to show a much more ruthless streak in front of goal.

We face Fulham in a late kick off on a Monday. I know, it can be frustrating if your team is not playing in the weekend. But that’s the way it is, and with the extra day that the lads got to rest you have to think that it should serve them well.

Update: Word from the official site is that Neville might be back for the Roma game. But we have heard about his ‘impending return’ a lot for the past eight months. We’ll have to wait and see.
And Rooney looks likely to play against Fulham. Now here goes another article rendered irrelevant! Oh, well. Read the rest of the article if you still have to.
It’s now official. Or so it will be, if all these months weren’t enough to convince us. The Telegraph confirms some of our worst fears. Captain Gary Neville may not be back until after the New Year.
