Belgium international: “Manchester United is the perfect club”

Belgium star Thomas Meunier has described Manchester United as “the perfect club” in a recent interview.

The Paris Saint-Germain right-back admitted to being a fan of us and praised the team that Jose Mourinho has put together.

We are currently joint top of the Premier League after four games ahead of Sunday’s match with Everton at Old Trafford.

Meunier told SFR Sport:

“I play with PSG on FIFA to play myself upfront otherwise with Manchester. As in Manchester United, the real one, the real one.

“I have always been a fan of Manchester United. They are back in the Champions League, they have formed a good team this year. I am thinking of Matic, I would have loved him in Paris, he is really an exceptional player. For the rest, they have a great team, a great manager, great fans, its the perfect club.”

Thomas Meunier has made six appearances at right-back for PSG this season, which led to Serge Aurier departing to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of this summer’s transfer window.  However, he does face tough competition from new arrival Dani Alves.

The 26-year-old is a very quick defender who scored a hat-trick in Belgium’s recent 9-0 hammering of San Marino in their 2018 World Cup qualifying match, playing on the right wing.  Romelu Lukaku also helped himself to a hat-trick in that match.

Meunier joined PSG from Club Brugge after Euro 2016 and made 22 appearances in the French Ligue 1 (18 starts) in his debut season.  He recorded four assists bombing on from right-back and scored one goal.  He also made six appearances in the Champions League (5 starts).
