Confirmed Lineups: Brighton vs Man Utd

Manchester United have the opportunity to wrap up second place with a victory at Brighton & Hove Albion this evening.

We have already beaten the Seagulls 1-0 in the Premier League (November) and 2-0 in the FA Cup (March) at Old Trafford this season.  David de Gea needs one more clean sheet to ensure he wins the Premier League Golden Glove award this season.

Brighton are winless in their last seven matches, losing four.  They sit five points above the relegation zone in 14th place.

The two teams for this evening’s game are confirmed as:

Manchester United

David de Gea; Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young; Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba; Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial

Substitutes: Sergio Romero, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard

Marcus Rashford starts up front after Jose Mourinho confirmed yesterday that Romelu Lukaku was ruled out with the ankle injury he picked up in last weekend’s win over Arsenal.  He will be flanked by Anthony Martial on the left with Alexis Sanchez not involved in this evening’s matchday squad, and Juan Mata on the right.  Martial should have success against 37-year-old Bruno.

After the boss said he had the World Cup in mind for his centre-backs, Marcos Rojo partners Chris Smalling in the middle of a back four with Phil Jones still injured.  Eric Bailly returns to the bench.  Matteo Darmian comes in for Antonio Valencia at right-back who has been given a rest.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Mat Ryan; Bruno, Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Gaetan Bong; Anthony Knockaert, Dale Stephens, Davy Propper, Jose Izquierdo; Pascal Gross; Glenn Murray

Substitutes: Tim Krul, Connor Goldson, Ezequiel Schelotto, Beram Kayal, Solly March, Jurgen Locadia, Leonardo Ulloa

The hosts appear to be playing a 4-5-1 with Glenn Murray as the lone striker.  Chris Hughton’s side have a slow defence that we should be looking to exploit with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack.
