Deadline Day Looms…
We lost the Super Cup to Zenit. Chelsea proved they are still shit by dropping points. Liverpool drew to Villa, sussing out early season optimism and, more importantly, both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are extremely doubtful for our Anfield visit.
We have no news on Berbatov, yet. Either way we’ll get to know it today. Hopefully let the good times roll as we get into a two week period of boredom — also called the international break.
Meanwhile, I apologise for not writing up my thoughts on the Super Cup. Or generally not updating this for the last couple of days. Kudos to the folks to keep commenting despite my negligence — trust me this is only temporary. It turns out that I do have a life outside of writing about United, which is what caused me to be off the blog during the weekend.
So, in the words of Arnie, I’ll be back. Hopefully, by then, Berbatov will be wearing the red of United.

cheers red ranter.
i’m glad this 2 week break is in the midst of Ronaldo and Hargreave’s recovery process. it would suck if they got back AND THEN there was a two week break.
silver linings, gotta love ‘em
September 1st, 2008 at 10:12
cheers mate, the countdown to berbatov will end today!
the verdict will be shown, nonetheless, i don’t think giving up campbell for berbie is fair enuff. we should sign berba and still keep our players. IMO if berbie remains at the lane, i think fergie has high hopes and expectations from manucho…
September 1st, 2008 at 10:23
Either that or Fergie screwed up the transfer!!!
HOnestly why the HELL are we paying as much for berbie as liverscum paid for el nino??NONSENSE I SAY!!
fuck berbie id rather see so many other strikers at OT like ronaldinho eto o huntelar trezeguet benzema and even arshavin for that matter that guy is quality…podolski is actually amazing anyone agrees he would be fucking amazing for united?
September 1st, 2008 at 10:25
it is said @http://www.espnstar.com/football/news/detail/item110836/Man-United-hunting-Huntelaar/
even if we get the berbie, fergie will also get the huntie…
hope that’s true
September 1st, 2008 at 10:30
the super cup was a nothing trophy so who cares we lost. good to see chelsea dropping points and fat frank being totally useless. and happy days stevie g and torres are gonna be out for the match….we should def be coming away with a point if not all 3.
cant wait for today to be over so we get on with season without berbacrap. im guessing it will be all quiet on the old trafford front today. i dont think we should get rid of frazier campbell, but Hull are offering 7 mil! thats pretty good is it not?
September 1st, 2008 at 10:31
It least it will all be over one way or the other today, thank God!
We should loan out Campbell to see how he gets on in the Prem.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:33
Hunta and Berba will be a HUGE shock. cant see either of them coming but ya never know
September 1st, 2008 at 10:38
No chance it will be Berbatov or nothing.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:39
Why are we having problems scoring goals this season?
An over reliance on Ronaldo?
Rooney not as good at scoring goals as we once thought?
The central midfield’s poor goal return (bar fletcher?!)
September 1st, 2008 at 10:40
i doubt berba comes.
i’m hoping campbell shines this year
for united that is
September 1st, 2008 at 10:42
@stephen
yeah, either way, it’ll be over, and for that, i’ll be grateful
September 1st, 2008 at 10:49
I really hope for his own sake Berba moves somewhere today. Levy really would be a massive c*nt to not let him leave to go somewhere if the money is good.
See that the spuds have signed Corluka and Pavyluchenko…that’s some decent cash right there. Perhaps the Robbie Keane money but I thought that was already spent. Let’s hope Levy’s fax is in order, wouldn’t want to miss the midnight deadline.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:49
Thaksin has just sold Man City! hahahahaha!
Thaksin Shinawatra has sold Manchester City to the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment. what a twat.

@Craig Mc: Some people may not have the end of season review, so I wil make it easier for people to remember. When Rooney was under heavy critique, I made a long post about every game he played and his biggest contributions in those games. Now it looks like Nani is also in the fireing line and I will stand up and protect him from this critiques. WARNING! Long post. Nanis contribution in 2007/08:
Reading- sub for Rooney at half time, shoots just wide from 25 yards.
Pompey- Crosses to Tevez on 28-yard box, Tevez 1 touch and pass to Scholes, Scholes scores.
City- Gets 1-on-1 with Schmeicel, saves shot. Problems with Richards, but makes some chances with good crosses.
Spurs- Scores his first goal for United with a thunderbolt from 25 yards. Matchwinner.
Sunderland- Passes free kick to Scholes on 25 yards, Scholes shoots just wide because of deflection. Corner assist to Saha, Saha matchwinner.
Everton- Corner assist to Vidic, Vidic matchminner.
Sporting- no major contribution, subbed off for Anderson.
Roma- Beats 2 man on left wing then crosses to Rooney who shoots just over the bar from 10 yards. Cross/shot hits the bar in 2nd half. Assist for Rooney who becomes matchwinner.
Villa- Cross that Rooney converts for 1-1, corner scored from Rio to 3-1.
Boro- Scores 1 goal witha thunderbolt from 25 yards, creates chance for Rooney and Ronaldo, neither manages to find the target with those chances.
Dynamo Kiev- 1 assist for Rooney goal, passes to Evra who passes to Ronaldo for 4-0.
Bolton- no impact, bad game.
Sporting- bad game, subbed off at half time.
Roma- 1 assist for Pique header from corner. Creates chances for Rooney and Saha, neither score.
Sunderland- Wins penalty for 4-0.
Birmingham- Hits post, crosses for Tevez who hits crossbar.
Newcastle- substitue, header down to Tevez who make sit 6-0.
Pompey- 1 assist for Ronaldo, passes to Tevez who shoots, James saves rebound form his dangerous shot, almost scores but James gets to the ball first.
Spurs- substitute, Corner assist to Tevez who scores in 94th minute.
City- No impact, bad game(like everyone else excpet for Andy)
Arsenal- 2 assists to Flecther, 1 goal, toys with the Arsenal defense, takes corner that untied make 1-0 from, makes Gallas look like a kindergarden kid, plays keepy-uppy with Traore, Wenger gets furious about his arrogance.
Lyon- substitute, cross for Tevez who equalises.
Newcastle- crosses to Tevez who heads wide, passes to Ronaldo who scores 3-0, crosses to Scholes good save by keeper, takes corner that Rooney scores from.
Fulham- showboats on the left wing, crosses for Scholes and Saha, neither score when 1-on-1.
Pompey- Horror game that United lose, Nani makes lots of chances, 1 for Tevez, 2 for Ronaldo and 1 for Carrick.
Bolton- Tests Al-Habsi reflexes with great free-kick, beat 1 man before he crosses to Saha who gets injured trying to scroe.
Liverpool- substitute, 1 assist from corner to Ronaldo, 1 goal after pass from Rooney.
Blackburn- returns from injury, corner to scholes who heads to Tevez who scores and makes it 1-1.
Chelski- bad game, bad decisionmaking.
Barcelona- Realy good game, heads just outside from Park cross, shoots over on counter attack, toys with Puyol.
West Ham- assist for 1-0 from Ronaldo, gets sent off.
Chelski, final- scores his penalty.
Hope this cleared so things up!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:00
If we do get him great superb, but if we don’t we are very short, up front. That could seriously cost us this season, but fingers crossed.

well i think we don’t have more time again, what i want is SAF should loan Campbell so that he can have more experience on th league and let have berba and see how far we goes from there,if we don’t have berba then we are short of strikers upfront and we have some important games that we could not afford to drop point and ronaldo out, rooney not too good at scoring….men we need a striker i just hope we get one by today…what about saha guys???where is he now?pls relply!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:23
The Times said this over the weekend:
David Moyes, the Everton manager, believes that Saha is well worth a gamble. “Louis is a good centre forward who has a bit of everything,” Moyes said. “He can run, head the ball and score goals and he hasn’t cost us any money.
Another example of our brilliant transfer dealings, sounds like we have just given him away, comforting!
September 1st, 2008 at 11:39
RedDevil, I’m not criticising Nani. I just agree with Liam that the club might be focussing on the wrong aspects of his abilities. We expect him to be ‘like Ronaldo’ when it’s evident that he is much better suited at developing ‘like Beckham’. He is currently - by far - the best crosser we have. I think SAF should focus on that. I see Nani as a combination of the old Beckham and the old Giggs (or rather a Giggs that can cross like Beckham). I think he has the potential to be great.
“Rooney - better than Ronaldo”
September 1st, 2008 at 11:41
well i really hope we do sign berbatov before midnight today(11 hrs to go in my side of the world). And if berba gets his move, he should do this to levy
September 1st, 2008 at 11:41
@Karl: I wasnt only reffering to you. Lots of people have critisised Nani, which I think is wrong cause 1. he is very young. 2. He was very important to our succes last year. And 3. He is no Cristiano Ronaldo yet!
“Ronaldo - better than any other fotballer in the world”
September 1st, 2008 at 11:42
@Nelson Otieno: HA-HA
September 1st, 2008 at 11:45

September 1st, 2008 at 12:07
@Stephen: The thing with Saha is he is unlikely to command much of a fee due to his injury history. Who’s going to stump up £5m or so for Saha if he ends up spending most of the time in sick bay. By letting him go for free they get a high wage earner off the payroll and if we sign the Berb he’d be a long way down the pecking order if he stayed. That said I’m sad the way his United career pettered out, when fit he’s a dynamic centre forward with a lot of weapons and perfectly suited to United’s fluid formations. You can see why it’s a good deal for both Everton and United (assuming we get someone signed today).
September 1st, 2008 at 12:11
Dimi ain’t going no where and he sure ain’t going to OT …so everybody take a deep breath and pray that we survive this season!! Come on guys, this exact team won us the EPL and UEFA CL last season !! Relax and let it go will you. I can’t wait till this dreadful transfer saga ends, hopefully not so long now. It’s as if there’s a fucking force out there that wants to redirect all United fans attention from the glory of being champions, to being totally focused on the Berbatov transfer story. arrrgh !!
September 1st, 2008 at 12:11
@Uncle Roy: I can’t see why he cannot command any fee? Owen who’s contract expires next season, and with an equally poor injury record as Mr Glass, was touted over the weekend for £2m. I can’t see how giving away a proven goalscorer in the top flight is good business for us, as we still have not signed replacement.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:15
If Owen was really available for £2m I’d bite someones hand off. You want someone who really could be a Solsjkaer replacement - look no further. If we only used him in the last 20 mins of matches, hopefully he’d stay fit more and the boy knows where the goal is. Something we sorely miss.
Now that would be a nice surprise, IMO.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:28
Spurs have signed Corluka for £8.5m and Pavlyuchenko for £14m - these are the actions of a club who expect some significant funds to come their way by the end of the day.
So I remain optimistic on Berba. And pessimistic about a surprise extra, though I’d love that whoever it was…?!
September 1st, 2008 at 12:30
Hrm, so I almost came on here when I saw the City news and said I hope they don’t try and get into a big d*ck waving competition and hijack Berba with stupid money. But then I realised that would be completely ridiculous.
But now rumours say they are trying to do just that.
Look at it from Spurs perspective and it looks rather peachy: More money, not sell to United and spite United too. Eeep.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:36
@Beachryan: doubt berba can ever accept that…looking for more CL action and city nowhere close to it…
September 1st, 2008 at 12:39
Actually I am pretty sure Saha was sold for no initial fee but a fee based on appearances.
The main problem with Nani is judgement and mediocre passing ability-he gives the ball away a lot. That will improve. In the meantime the positive aspects of his game (he can beat a man and cross) will be brought out by a target man.
Around 12 hours to go and no Berbatov. God knows how im going to work as im checking the BBC feed every five minutes! It hurts to see all the other clubs pulling off these surprise deals
September 1st, 2008 at 12:48
No hunter… Link
September 1st, 2008 at 12:52
@Stephen: I think the fact that he won’t be pocketing a hefty wage at OT for the remainder of his contract is as good as a transfer fee for United. Given his injury record any deal to offload him needs to be incentivized for both Everton and Saha himself since he could easily sit out his contract at OT.
However, I agree with you that it could prove to be a bad mistake if Berbatov doesn’t sign.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:00
Owen would be an amazing snap up… but I hope for the sake of the club we keep hold of a talent like Frazier Campbell. It would be great to get Dimitar but if we let Frazier go I will have to wonder why on earth we are becoming a feeder club in terms of our youth system.
Berba may get offered a City switch but he wants Champions League football now. and at the very least he’d be waiting 4 years at City.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:00
@Uncle Roy: If we don’t get Berbatov it could cost us more than his hefty wage mate, we need Berbatov badly now.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:04
Stephen. I don’t agree. can someone please explain to me bar Ronaldos injury what is so different this season compared to last? surely other teams strengthening isnt getting you worried? we still have a great team with good work ethic and have shown with our goals thus far that we dont rely purely on Forwards to win us points with goals… they come in from everywhere. Once Carrick is back you will see a huge difference in our build up play.
also, would it be a good move to take Smith back on loan if no Dimitar deal gets done… or even if it is. We could get him back on track, I still miss him
September 1st, 2008 at 13:04
its really getting on my nerves when people say things like “we need berbatov badly now” HELLO, we have the same squad as last year more or less, and they didnt do to bad, shit man, you people are speaking like we are living in 2005…
September 1st, 2008 at 13:07
dan(u-ol)I couldnt agree more
September 1st, 2008 at 13:10
@dan(u-ol): @sig: We are struggling in front of goal at the moment, we can’t rely on Rooney and Carlito for goals. We have only 2 reconised strikers on our books and do you guys really think Ronaldo will score another 42 goals this season?
We won the ECL on pens and league on the last day of the season and yes I am worried about other teams strengthing and we have sold our only out and out striker, know one knows what to expect from Mancuho, so yes in my view we need Berbatov.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:20
we struggle in front of goal last year as well, in the beginning.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 13:23
Stephen. I understand your fears, but I think we proved last season that we dont play in the old school way of having a dedicated marksman, thats why I dissagree. I think Dimitar would be great in terms of holding the ball up in the last 3rd of the pitch but his other qualitys such as poaching goals are already posessed by other players…
NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUST IN. Sky Sports News:
A bid has been tabled by Manchester City in excess of £30 Million for Dimitar Berbatov
September 1st, 2008 at 13:24
@Stephen: how many players get 42 goals a season, not many, ronaldo was lucky, to get that. Even if we get berbatov he would only be expected to score around 35 goals, not 42. what ronaldo dod last season is a once in a life time thing for players, and most players dont even do it.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:26
Ok we now have major problems. In excess of 30mill and with Spurs really not wanting to sell to us we are screwed.
And the options remaining are either untested having played in weak leagues (Huntelaar) or will cost us significantly more than £30mill
September 1st, 2008 at 13:28
City are beyond stupid, did you see Sky interviewing cit-eh fans wearing gaffa tape on what looked like sugar paper strapped to ther heads like head scarfs? They gave their full and undying support to shiwanatra and seem to have forgotten about him just as soon. If they get berbatov that would require Dimitar to accept non european football as well as giving up on his ‘dream’ of playing for united so despite this 30+ million muscle flexing by Englands richest new club i cant see it hapenning
September 1st, 2008 at 13:28
@sig: Who is a goal poacher for us bar Tevez? We need more than two reconised forwards @ the club. Manucho is completly unproven @ this level as his Welbeck and Campbell. Teams will also work our how to play us and sometimes we need another option, also if we get injuries to our forwards then we are very thin up there, surely its obvious?
I trust the players we have because they have done it, but teams around us have bought and we haven’t, you can’t say that because we did it last year then we will do it again this, we need to progress the club and Fergie has admitted we need a striker for over a year.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:28
@dan(u-ol): I just think mate we need another option up front.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:30
Tevej - better than Rooney…
Messi - better than Tevej…
Ronaldo - better than any other fotballer in the world…
hmmmm…
Rooney - atm certainly better than A. smith…
September 1st, 2008 at 13:33
@Stephen: no you didnt, you thought we where not going to score goals without ronaldo.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:37
FUCKING BERBATOV… BID… FROM FUCKING CITY!!! MUST KILL SOMEONE!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 13:41
@Little_dud: remove the caps or risk the rath of red ranter…
city are just playing the role of newcastle in the rooney transfer.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:41
Whatever way you spin it, our current complement of senior strikers stands at two and to make matters worse both are support strikers naturally. I would say that getting another striker in the door is pretty essential at the minute.
Personally I think the actions and negotiations around Berbatov have been badly mishandled by ourselves and Spurs in an effort to haggle an extra million or two out of each other. Let’s just hope we get some form of sensible resolution to the whole thing before the transfer window shuts.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:46
@dan(u-ol): I know what I meant, and we do need more goals from another source other than Ronaldo.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:49
berba would be an idiot and a complete **** if he went to city. that’s all I have to say.
September 1st, 2008 at 13:52
It is a worry for me that we havent added a striker and in my books berbatov suits us.granted he does drop deep but it cannot be compared to the way tevez and rooney do it. i just love the way he constanlty switches from the ‘hole’position to that of an out and out striker. For me just having the same squad like last season doesnt guarantee us bagging, only increases our chances
Finally off topic, to all England fans,if only your beloved team echoed your counterparts. read this.Makes you sick doesnt it
September 1st, 2008 at 14:05
Berbatov is on a plane to manchester (sky sports news)
im hopeful because i really dont think that berbatov wants to go to city
September 1st, 2008 at 14:08
@dan(u-ol): I think the caps were necessary given the situation and i dont think a british transfer fee record sounds like its going to be a bit-part role in Berbatovs transfer.
September 1st, 2008 at 14:13
The Red Devils greatly need a post striker, and I always see Klaas Jan Huntelaar to take over nistelrooy’s place.
Berbatov is not the one for man utd even though he’s great.
September 1st, 2008 at 14:13
bloody hell….37 million pounds. maybe a tad over-valued?
September 1st, 2008 at 14:20
@Little_dud: Ignore the “City offer record fee headline”.
“Spurs accept offer from City” is a slightly different matter.
September 1st, 2008 at 14:32
FUCK what happened to the surprise I was supposed to wake up to?
September 1st, 2008 at 14:32
@DMC: sorry if i dont share your optimism but i think Mark Hughes has confirmed it and Spurs would be stupid to turn it down
September 1st, 2008 at 14:39
Tottenham is not going to pull the plug on this deal, Berbatov is. He wants European football and will not go to Man City unless Man Utd never come in with an offer.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 14:41
@ Little_Dud. Can Spurs, or for that matter, can a club force a player to join another team just because they have accepted their bid or does the player have to consent to it?

well if thats the only good news of the day I’ll be happy… good look to Saha… now do whatever you have to and get a replacment

September 1st, 2008 at 14:55
DAVID GILL WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU.. stop knocking out a crafty one and get your fucking arse in gear.. if the scum across the way manage to pull this one from under our noses i swear…. you’ve had how many months to wrap this one up and what have you been doing? laurels and resting scream to mind!
im starting to think that grog was right with his claims that we have fuck all to spend… i mean.. £30mill?.. oh yea didn’t we get that much for winning the champions league? where the hell has that gone?
fucking glazers… (i really want to be retracting this entire rant by the end of the day.. seriously.. what a day to wake up to)

Ajax have ruled out Huntelaar move. LinkI. wasnt expecting it to happen anyway
September 1st, 2008 at 14:56
Why do city think theyr the new chelsea, chelsea had an excellent foundation of a team which in all honesty had underachieved massively in the pre mourinho years, cit-eh on the other hand have a handful of gifted stars but are looking to create a super team. I really hope berba sees sense and sees the opportunity that Manchester United can present him with, not the cash lump that city are planning to drop on him. These SSN letters are really annoying me, it reminds me just how much the average football fan is willing to hate United because of our success, we havent been attall obnoxious throughout the summer or in recent memory, were just a damn good team who get results and never seemingly get the man we want anymore, can any see yet another highjack on the horizon? Essien, Ronaldinho, Bale, Mikel and now Berbatov to the shitty?
September 1st, 2008 at 14:56
if i was fergie, i would bid £40 million for benzema…
September 1st, 2008 at 14:56
@Nelson Otieno:
The player has to agree to the move.
An example is in 1998 when a sale between Man Utd and Tottenham of Ole didn’t go through because the player turned the move down.

(Screams, throws the computer against the wall and runs down the street butt-naked yelling: BERBATOV, HI-HI-HI! CRAZY!!!)
September 1st, 2008 at 14:58
I hope Berba doesn’t aggree terms with shitty-city…
Ronaldo - way way better than Rooney…
September 1st, 2008 at 15:04
OI! BERBA! fancy some champions league action… well. theres only one team in manchester your gonna get some of that my bulgarian friend… come on just think off all the effort you’ve put in to being a miserable sod… you really want to continue to be miserable at wastelands? come on.. join the devils.. you know you want to.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:04
To everyone who’s up in arms that City might end up with Berba, look at it this way: the boy wants Champions League football, and while City may be able to offer him crazy money from their new owners they won’t be able to give him the prestige of playing in the biggest club competition in the world.
Anyway, Berba’s good but I don’t want the kind of player who’ll sulk and refuse to play if he feels like it. On the Plus side though, the BBC are saying (albeit through an almost-anonymous text-in) that Benzema’s been spotted in Manchester.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:05
Wow, things are really hotting up
Though if Berba joins Shitty, I’ll be up in arms too with ya RedDevil..one more computer crashes against the wall..

@antsBoy: make that three.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:08
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****¤”"”!!”!¤#”%”#¤*!”#¤*”"!*#”!*#!”*#*! !” !”*f** FUCKING CUNTS!
Still, I hope Fergie does the Rooney-type of thing and gets Berba right in front of Hughes` ugly, old and beaten-up looking face. What are Spurs doing? Are the Stuuuuuupid? Are they Cheeeaap? No, they are jsut SOME FECKIN IDIOTS THAT DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SULKY, NOT-SO EXPENSIVE 27 year old Bulgarian and a 18 year old boy for the future. If they think Berba is worth more than Rooney, THEN LICK YOUR *#!¤”! For Gods sake, they value him £37 MILLION! Somethying is wrong with that Levy guy, something is just wrong!
Okey, I just needed to get that out of my system. Come on, really? Berbatov to Citeh? ARE YOU FECKING KIDDIN ME?!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:09
@michael: I went to the BBC website and saw nothing on Benzema.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:10
dont get excited sig… Benzema… in my dreams… I cant deal with this at work I have sky sports news in the background… its to much to take
September 1st, 2008 at 15:11
@RichmondRed: yes it does on the transfer deadline day thread, but its a blatant lie though(benzema rumour that is). im keeping all of my anger inside but its really hard, WHY DOES THIS SHIT ALWAYS HAPPEN TO UNITED!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:11
@RichmondRed: he said it was in an anonymous text-in. won’t be on the front page or even in the news section.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:11
If we don’t get him then we have made a mess of this, we needed a plan B, and leaving your only target to the last day of the window is very risky to say the least.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:13
Also, why are we all so crazy about Berba. This is a forward who at Tottenham, one of the freest scoring teams in the league, has not yet managed to get near twenty in the league, and only has decent stats because he bangs in goals against teams like Aalkmar in the UEFA cup. I see his value to us: he’s slow the game down up front and really allow us to dominate up top with more precision and control, but he’s not the clincal finisher everyone thinks he is. How we haven’t managed to use this summer to identify a similar player aged 10 years younger and costing half (if that) as much I don’t know. I won’t be unhappy if we get him but for more than £20mil I think it could be a rip-off.
And dan, while it’s probably a lie about Benzema, I fucking love that boy so I’m keeping hope alive in the rationality-deprived part of my brain.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:13
@dan(u-ol): Because Fergie has pride I guess. He wont fall in, he is to stubborn to realise that we actually need Berba more than Spurs need to gat him away. They can just give him to a club like Citeh, but we cant! WE HAVE TO GET HIM, BENZEMA OR HUNTELAAR FAST OR I WILL SCREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAM so loud Ill scare the neightbours.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:14
oh my, i’m going to
now. man i cant even put my anger into words. f*ck you city bitches
September 1st, 2008 at 15:14
There is nothing on Benzema. Some clown just texted in saying that his mum, who works at a taxi company or some shit like that, had an order for a car for Mr. Benzema at Manchester Airport…
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 15:15
I dont care if Fergie buys Berba for 1 million quid or 100 mill. JUST SIGN HIM!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:17
@Andrei: Stop with that “Rooney - better than Ronaldo” crap. We all know Ronaldo is the best player in the world and I will be delighted when he returnes. He give the team something extra when he is on the field. RONALDO IS BETTER THAN ANYONE!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:18
I doubt Berbatov will turn Citeh down unless we get a bid accepted sharpish.
Think about it, there is no future for Berbatov at Spurs, it would be best for him to leave for Citeh and get a massive pay packet instead of staying with Spurs.
I don’t see Spurs even accepting our offer if we matched whatever the bitters paid, they’ll probably start asking for £40m, and if we don’t pay up (which we wouldn’t) then they’d go to Berbatov and say “it’s Citeh or nowhere”.
He’s moving today, and it is up to us to get an offer accepted before it’s too late.
Spurs will be loving this, after we played a game of “chicken” with them, waiting until the very last minute and seeing who concedes to the others demands first, someone has just come in and given Spurs victory.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:18
I hope Red Ranter dont ban me for all the caps. But I hope he understand that I am going mental here and just want to show people how I really feel.
RONALDO IS BETTER THAN ANYONE!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:18
why do none of my comments go through?!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:19
i just came down..if he is leaving for money then let him leave….the history repeats…we know what happened to greedy cunts like robben, ballack, mikel …. city can have him for 34 m… since there are no much strikers available , lets have a quick fix this time ..may be a loan move and then nxet year we can enter teh market ….Hughes is really creating a team there …a Top 4 ???????
September 1st, 2008 at 15:20
@RedDevil: you might not care.. but i bet the glazers do…. clowns in suits.. thats what they are if we get fucked by spurs.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:23
This day is getting more shitier. Man city berba’s bid accepted?
Antsboy and Will, I will make it four computers plus the TV.
Fuck Man Shitty
September 1st, 2008 at 15:24
@dan(u-ol): Agree 100%
September 1st, 2008 at 15:25
This is stupid though; while we have money, we shouldn’t let clubs dick us about for extra cash, otherwise we’ll turn into Chelsea, paying £30 mill for every player who realises he can get great wages and agitates for a move. We should go with what has worked for us in recent years, which is importing high-quality youth.
Btw, dunno how reliable this site is but apparently Berba signed for City on £150k a week

September 1st, 2008 at 15:26
This crazy, mental-making story told in a footballing way!
Martin Tyler:
“Manchester United have the chance to win the CL again, they just need to score this penalty. Its 4-4 after 5 penalties to United and 5 to Spurs. If Ferguson can put this ball behind Levy, then its victory for United.”
Andy Gray:
“Its been a cat and mouse game, and it goes to the last moment. I cant bare this Martin!”
Tyler:
“Ferguson steps up….OH-NO, he slipped! This looks bad. He got injured while running up to the ball, and he slipped just when he was about to kick it. The ball hits the post and its sudden death…. GILL MISSES! Its Hughes going forward! HE SCORES! TOTTENHAM CITY HAVE BEATEN MANCHESTER UNITED. And what a humiliation for Ferguson and United. They had the chance to win, but they blew it!”
September 1st, 2008 at 15:26
Spot on AlexOfMancunia…they will laughing at us
now we dont have any other goption but to go with an offer that matches with that of city’s … any chance of geting Benzema ??? may be a 35 m bid wud temopt them ..or aguero ? since we have Manucho we have that aerial presence…so shudnt be a problem even if the striker is short ! but no way 35 m for the bulgraian…
September 1st, 2008 at 15:27
Grrr, fuck all of this. City can get Berbatov because we sure as hell won’t get him. Unless we offer Campbell to sweeten our offer, I don’t think we can match City’s offer and, while we need him, the team will not fall apart if he goes to City or stays at Tottenham.
Man Utd - better than Man City no matter what happens.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:27
@dan(u-ol): You sound like the buyer United need!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:31
Whoa.. RedDevil ur on a roll! Nice metaphors but it’s sickening..
This is like Bayern getting beaten by us in 1999! S.I.C.K.E.N.I.N.G!

what the hell is going on. seriously. what the fuck. fucking fuck. this is now officially biggest joke of a preseason ever. cunting cunts.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:33
heard that united have offered 20m + campbell to counter city offer ….they will just reject this ofer
September 1st, 2008 at 15:33
dear fraizer campbell… you better be fucking good.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:34
This is worse than a suspense thriller. I wish this transfer window can just close.
It appears that the new City owners want to prove a point by forcing United to increase their bid.
I for one would have liked SAF to get fat Ronaldo while we wait on Benzema instead. Pity though.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 15:34
Is Alan Shearer history repeated. I guess that this crap happens if you let yourself being boxed with no options until the last day of the transfer window.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:35
I think that Spurs would be mad to accept an offer from a club owned by someone with their bank accounts frozen. The newspapers are going on about the Abu Dhabi’s but if that gets held up, and Shinawatra cannot pay, Spurs are in a hole having already spent £20m today. Presumably they would want a bank guarantee to accept it which may explain I cannot find one source at Spurs quoted confirming that they have accepted a bid from City.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:35
Forget Berbatov now, no way will we pay what the bitters are paying for someone of his age.
Ronaldo’s return from injury will be our new signing. We are over reliant on Ronaldo these days to get us goals, why? Because he is the only legitimate goal scorer we have. The team is built around him, and with him in the team, we can play Rooney and Tevez together up front as Ronaldo will drift into the middle a lot and act as a proper striker. However without Ronaldo in the team, a taller, pacy(ish) striker is needed to give us what Ronaldo does (height and the ability to stretch the opposition defence), and to finish off what we create.
With Saha gone, only Manucho could possibly be able to give us this, but we don’t know how good the guy is. If he repeats his abilities that he showed in the ACN though, I think we will be OK.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:36
Now Berbatov can go to the pub with his mate Petrov. Isn’t that feckin sweet!!!

maybe everyone should just calm down and see what happens. dont believe anything you read on tranfer day until you see the player standing infront of the cameras with the shirt!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:40
Man City - Ronaldinho - Barca - Milan
Man City - Berba - Spurs - M.U
September 1st, 2008 at 15:41
Fantastic, City have become billionaires overnight and are spending like crazy with a rumoured 4 new signings. And what are the best news that ManUtd.com can report?
“John O’Shea:I’ll remain a Red!” FFFFFUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!
I am not generally one to give in to throwing fits of temper or blowing my head off but this is a blatant slap in the face of the fans from Man Utd. Everybody in the world and their football illiterate grandmas know that United needs reinforcements up front. Portsmouth we managed to scrape through, what happened against Zenit?
How one earth are we going to manage with just 2 decent strikers? One of whom can’t seem to score even if his mom’s life depended on it? I can be optimistic and say that we managed with those two last year, but last year we had Ronaldo who was banging them in at will, and luckily Rooney or Tevez werent injured at crucial stages. Luck doesn’t stay with you for one more season. The only way we can win ANY sort of silverware with the team we have right now is if there is nobody injured ever, and perhaps Manucho turns out to be a natural goal scoring machine.
Has the Board and SAF and the support staff become complacent and think that we don’t need to win anymore, or maybe we will win it all again? That just ain’t possible. Every other team in the League and Europe has managed to bring in some positive changes and are better this season. What have we done? Fuck all!
I don’t know why, but sometimes when I am making a long-winding rant, I always tend to look at two sides of the coin. On one hand there is all this doom and gloom and “we are DEFINITELY fucked” side of it, and the other one which is more like a dark faded side, but with only a single speck of bright light on it at the moment, is that the crux of the team is the same and we are bringing in some promising youngsters into the first team, who (as Becks, Scholesy, Nevilles, Butt so memorably did) will prove us all wrong and turn out to be better than any player we could sign within the next 10 hours. Does this little speck of shine have any chance of turning into blinding dazzling luster? We will only know this a couple of months later. But whatever happens, whichever fucker decides to join shit teams over the best team in the world for a few quid more, Berba or no Berba, new signings or none…
MANCHESTER UNITED FOREVER!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:41
If Berba really moves to City, is safe to say that HE IS OUT OF HIS MIND!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:42
What f*cking ever! If I’d said two days ago is Berba worth a british record transfer fee, very, very few people would have said yes. So there’s some new money bags in town throwing around stupid money, great for them. If a player wants to just earn the best wage possible that’s their decision. Berba has to move today, so he’ll probably go to City. He’s not worth £35m pounds and I’d feel ripped off if that’s what we paid for him.
So we move on. Maybe with the squad we have. It’s still a strong squad, and we’ll see how City fair by the end of hte year.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:43
@bond:
You are looking at £40-45mill for both
September 1st, 2008 at 15:45
@Beachryan: I know, he is defo not worth enough to beat the Enlish transfer record. I think Schevchenko deserves that one!
September 1st, 2008 at 15:46
@RedDevil: got it in one.
£35 million shows city are desparate…. now where have i heard city paying over the odds and still getting fucked by the player… oh yea… ronaldinho..
September 1st, 2008 at 15:49
just watching the interview unedited…
‘would you hope to meet berbatov today’
‘yes I would HOPE to meet berbatov, we’ll see what happens’
September 1st, 2008 at 15:49
@Will: Founjd it on the RoM site. Commented by someone else.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:51
@sig: Who is that being interviewed? Mark Hughes?
September 1st, 2008 at 15:52
Fuck berbatov, he was never my first choice. Lets just bid everything for benzema or the hunter.

@RichmondRed Yeh Sparky
September 1st, 2008 at 15:57
@michael:
Youre exactly right mate, everyone here at RR has become a little bit too obsessed with signing Berbatov right here and now when hes clearly an underperforming whinger in the vein of samuel etoo, prized the world over but when all is said and done not the clinical finisher we need. Torres would have fit united like a glove and made the team utterly invincible and i can therefore understand many-a red’s concerns about united’s lack of spending in the transfer market this summer, after all were always beaten to our prey, Essien, Ramsey, Bale, Mikel, Berbatov?, Ronaldinho being some big example but we are champions of europe and england with our current team for a reason, lets not get hung up on this cowardly cit-eh raid on talent that weve taken a wee bit too long to get our hands on but look to some of our younger talents to make the grade this year and become the prize assets of the future. Lets just stop panicking shall we people?
September 1st, 2008 at 15:57
pictures coming in via sky sports news of Berbatov signing balls for City fans… I think its all over
September 1st, 2008 at 15:58
I think this is a brilliant attempt by the new owners to ‘impress’ the fans. I seriously doubt they really want him and have a feeling that they will have massive problems if they somehow mysteriously manage to land him. My reasoning, the manager would have known before the time if they wanted to make a serious bid. It appears that Hughes knew nothing.
Good luck to City. Hope it backfires on them.
September 1st, 2008 at 15:59
Mihir - I understand your anger, as I am feeling it a bit myself. I however did feel we had sufficient cover, until we sold Saha. Now that Saha is gone a new striker is needed at the club. What shocks me is that we let Saha move on, without having a solid bid accepted for the striker we do want, Berba or not.
With that said, there is still time and just because City’s bid was accepted doesn’t mean Berba will confirm terms with our rivals. I doubt his “dream” is to move to the lovely city of Manchester, and play at a club that has a long way to go to match what he wants at his age. He is 27 and its time to win trophies and odds are better at United than City.
Now if he does move on, Untied will have done themselves no favors. We had months to find a striker and instead settled on Berba cause he is a “perfect” match for our team which I think is bull. One fault of Fergie’s which are few and far between he gets his mind set on certain players and has to have them. Laurent Blanc is a great example. No one knows if Berba will be a perfect fit and if I remember correctly most of us was sure Juan S. Veron would be the best signing United would ever make.
United, as others have pointed out, should have been looking all over, scouting the Euro’s heavily, and reviewing game film on certain players and begin negotations over 3-6 strikers instead of one. We could all be fooled cause we have no idea whats going on so we need to relax. Our anger can explode tomorrow if nothing has happened and United are still lacking upfront.
But I will be incredible shocked if Berba “ok’s” the move to City.
But remember, Manucho has looked good in the African Cup of nations and is the type of striker we need at United. African strikers have enjoyed successful careers in the EPL (Ade, Yakuba, Kanu, etc..) and just watching him in 4-5 games I really think he could perform at a high level with United and could solve all our problems. Even with Manucho, I would feel more comfortable with at least 5 strikers and we truly need one more at United.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:02
Damn the last thing we need is a bidding war with a cash flush City. Berbatov is worth 25 million tops and I would be mad if we paid more than that.
I want us to admit defeat tell Tottenham 25 million is our final offer and to get back to us if they can’t sell to City, and I want us to line up a decent striker for around 10 million to provide cover. Failing that another winger.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:05
Come to think of it. If Berbatov agrees, this will be the second time that he screws United.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 16:07
I would not be all that upset if Berbatov didn’t come to United, I would only be upset that he went to City. I also would be upset that I wasted 2 months of my life tracking this bastard like United supposedly have done. I want my 2 months back Mr. Berbatov!!!

im just gonna shut up and keep it to myself…
September 1st, 2008 at 16:13
give us the link!! haha, I am at a loss right now. I just can not believe it has got to this point and why is there no other options for United and Fergie? I hope Manucho lives up to what I think he can become.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:14
Maybe the City fans were United fans in disguise and the Man City bid was really a Man Utd bid which the faxed in the name of their bitter rivals only to increase the likelyhood that Tottenham accept the bid…
Rooney - better than Ronaldo

Sig- I remember in January I was watching Eurogoals and Ajax when the reporter said Huntelaar was going to United. I posted it on this iste and everyone got mad at me. Dan flipped out!
I think he got suspended, dont remember. But I only said what I had heard so… Dont do the same mistake to say something unless you have proof. Advice: dont believe a reporter.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:20
Can Berbatov stop Tottenham from selling him to City, in spite of City having offered more moolah, and instead force a move to us? I mean, what does the rulebook say?
I am damn sure if it were up to the cunt Levy then Berbatov will already be packing his bags on his way to City. I remember last season Benjani didn’t want to leave Pompey but the owners sold him off to City and he had to deal with it. Can someone clarify this?
September 1st, 2008 at 16:21
@Andrei: I dunno mate, at this point anything is possible isn’t it? Things are sort of backwards today. City bidding for Berbatov has made me wipe my penis after a piss and shake my ass after I shit!

September 1st, 2008 at 16:23
He and City do have to agree on contractual terms, how much per week, how long, etc… If Berba is not convinced and doesn’t want to make the move, he won’t. He can kill the transfer but what choice does he have? Play for City or sit in the reserves the entire year and hope he is still valued by big clubs in Jan. or next summer.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:23
@RedDevil:
September 1st, 2008 at 16:23
@Mihir: When United accepted Spurs bid for 20LEgend in 1998, he refused to leave United and he stayed. Its possible of cource, to refuse to go to a club if you dont want to go.

@Jonboi: Please do not post that crap! This site is stating things from another site, that is also unreliable. Unless it is Sky or BBC it is worthless as far as I am concerned.
September 1st, 2008 at 16:29
Speaking of red ranter, he has been strangely silent, yohooo RR are you there
September 1st, 2008 at 16:29
@Kevin:
We know united bid for Silva so I don’t think we can really say they have been just focusing on Berba. The problem is if we think spurs are trying to get too much for Berba then the other options are even worse. 25mill for Huntelaar (25 years old and totally unproven at a good level), Benzema for 45mill, David Villa before he signed his new contract was £35mill ect ect.
There was evidence most of the summer that Fergie wanted 2 new strikers, the sale of Saha certainly adds to that and I just think that too many clubs are playing silly buggers with the potential signings by asking way too much
September 1st, 2008 at 16:31
@Jonboi: that site is bullshit… they don’t even know who the spurs manager is!!! and cant even spell Dimitar!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 16:31
of all the days to talk about cricket… why are sky sports even bothering… just give up all other sports today.. just for once ay?
September 1st, 2008 at 16:36
skysports news say berba is at carrington!!!! Also, Spurs are yet to confirm that citys bid has been accepted..
September 1st, 2008 at 16:37
is it wrong that I’m very happy with this development. Berbatov is not worth over 20m and even that is a stretch. Never wanted him and hope he joins City. They are saying on SS that he’s in Manchester and since we haven’t had a bid accepted it can only be to talk to City. But they are saying now he is at Carrington. WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?
September 1st, 2008 at 16:38
Watching all this on sky would be miles more fun if it were being handled by the gillette soccer saturday team, Richard key’s churning out the news nonstop and cammy telling us how both city and united were working like beavers to bring berbatov in
September 1st, 2008 at 16:39
yeah right on will. This is football day, drop that god damn cricket. For today, nobody gives a shit to other sports as for we are focusd on this issue. if Berba decides to sign with stupid city, then he is not that of United calibre.

Laim, this is not about Berbatov, Tottenham or any amount of money that Levy is asking for. This is about two very important things:
a) Man Utd have not signed anybody so far this summer and that is unacceptable.
b) Man Utd are about to lose a transfer target to Man City.
We are a obnoxious, success-spoiled, money-filled club who does not out to anyone at anything!!.
LOL RichmondRed… “wipe my penis after a piss and shake my ass after I shit!

I wonder why city are getting all the business attention at the moment, for one thing you dont delve into an investment opportunity in an area largely controlled by a powerful rival (the mighty red devils
) hoping to turn the tide? At least put the money into a worthwhile outfit, say a biggish club languishing at the wrong end of the league or perhaps lower? This ironically named Abu Dabi ‘united’ Group are only hoping to cash in on thaksins limited success from last year
September 1st, 2008 at 16:49
Berbatov - better come to United

some of the assholes emailing SS are asking for Ferguson to be sacked if Berba doesnt join
Andrei; I really don’t want him so anyone who will take him is fine with me. I have to go to work in about 15 mins so I’m hoping for news before then

BBC confirms that Spurs have accepted City’s bid for Berba…
September 1st, 2008 at 16:51
@Will: What’s the source or quote? Is it one of these “Sky sports understands….” type of things?
September 1st, 2008 at 16:52
Madrid have entered the race according to SS!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 16:52
BREAKING NEWS/ SICK SPANISH JOKE
, according to sky sports news tv Real are offering 36 million pounds for berba, what an absolute joke, even if its true there just doing it to have a stab at us over ronny and a wholly unapreciated laugh at our expense
It seems the spanish press are getting in on this nightmare scenario now
September 1st, 2008 at 16:54
@ Beachryan.Link please.
Boys this soap opera has many twists. even makes puts real directors to shame
September 1st, 2008 at 16:54
PhakeNews: Berba spotted being shown around Carrington by Gary Neville.
*antsBoy hits head against wall, wondering how he’s become so sadistic*
September 1st, 2008 at 16:57
@ Nelson: Link confirming Spurs have accepted City’s offer
September 1st, 2008 at 16:57
I think I might want to bid 40000000mil pounds for Berba myself, since its the “trend” nowadays. ;p I guess the only way to find out who the lad has joined is by reading tmr’s papers!
September 1st, 2008 at 16:59
Just because sky tv say he is at Carrington, doesn’t mean it’s United, because City training ground is also at Carrington. If Berba goes somewhere else last minute, just like Ronaldinho did, then Fergie cannot blame Stupido Kenyon this time. United need to get their transfers sorted a lot feckin sooner than they do. I am disgusted with them.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:00
If Real get Berba can we offer £15m for Ruud and admit we should never have gotten rid of him please? Older, but still the man…
September 1st, 2008 at 17:01
@ Beachryan:At least they havent said Berba’s agreed. let me continue reading how the drama unfolds. wish sky was available in my country
September 1st, 2008 at 17:01
@antsBoy:
classic
September 1st, 2008 at 17:03
@Jonboi: so true…. This lad, through no merit of his own, will become one of the most expensive players of all time and certainly the top summer transfer. Everybody is bidding for him eventhough it is crystal clear that he is not worth more than 20 mil…
BTW, the Real Madrid rumours are bullshit, I think… but, on a positive side, Bullard has been seen at Arsenal’s training ground.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:04
@Craig Mc: Fergie picked him from Manchester Airport himself. He has been there for an hour and a half.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:05
BERBA WITH FERGIE AND TALKING!!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:07
@ Traverse:it seems Fergie wont let Berbatov head to manchester city.even if it means kidnapping him at the airport
September 1st, 2008 at 17:08
This is how my mood has been today:
CRAZY!!!
CONFUSED!!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:08
@Nelson Otieno:
September 1st, 2008 at 17:12
according to 606, city have put in bids for silva and gomes, sure;y that means no berbatov for them.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:12
@ RedDevil:
at least i aint the only one confused
September 1st, 2008 at 17:14
Traverse, who said that mate?. Was it on sky news that Fergie picked him up. I mean, is it a definate he is with Fergie, cos with all the rumours flying around, nobody knows what the feck is going on mate.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:14
oh’shit
September 1st, 2008 at 17:15
@ Dan: it looks like city arent used to big money and they have gone nuts
September 1st, 2008 at 17:16
david villa and mario gomez!!! the other 2 the wastelanders have bid for… i reckon they are not wanting berba… just bidding for a shit load of strikers.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:17
is it just me or this stuff is getting out of hand?!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:19
@Beachryan: @Nelson Otieno: That link does not quote any Spurs sources, just Sparky. There must be a reason why Levy is finally keeping his mouth shut
September 1st, 2008 at 17:20
@john freakin’ o’shea: Its not just you, believe me! This thing has become crazy. I dont even know if I really am awake or if this is just a really crazy dream. Yeah, its become that crazy now. Just finish this!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:22
Does anyone else think that ADUG are just doing this because it will cost them nothing (to get rejected by the player) and absolutely rules out any objection from those at the Wastelands to their takeover.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:24
God Five hours(on my side)to go. Very long time indeed
September 1st, 2008 at 17:24
@RedDevil: Spot on, I thought i was just having a weird dream.. this is whacked, madness!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:27
Yup sky said Fergie picked him up himself and drove him to carrington…fucking rich bastards are gonna fuck up things now They said theyl buy anyone!!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:29
I wonder what berbatov was thinking when that photo on sky was taken. looks a bit silly
September 1st, 2008 at 17:30
I just have to ask you! Is this soap-opera/whack dream making you laugh or cry? I know I cant stop lauchin at this when I try to remember what has happen since this morning!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:33
@ John Oshea and @ RedDevil. Something to take us out of our misery
September 1st, 2008 at 17:33
My jaw is still dropped and I got the hang of this about 5 hours ago. Dunno whether to laugh or cry.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 17:36
I cannot believe it. All we had to do was stump up the money, which we could afford. The complacency is creeping into the team again, and I do not want it to be another decade before we win the champions league again, but I can see it going like that. Unbelievable. Manucho better be on form. We could use a couple of those wonder strikes.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:36
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
Agreed.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:36
this is the best deadline day ever!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:39
I’d better go get myself a nap. hopefully when i wake up this is all over
This stuff is making me dizzy from laughing and having brief periods of annoyance
September 1st, 2008 at 17:40
Levy is screwing us over, he has opened his mouth and stated United havent been granted permission to speak to Berba. I doubt we would have sent Fergie to pick Berba up and drive him to carrington without being told we could so I just hope we have the evidence that they ok’d it else knowing the FA, UEFA and FIFA we will get a 2 year transfer embargo
September 1st, 2008 at 17:40
@dan(u-ol): To think that only a few weeks ago what we were worried about was “Ronaldo being driven to the Bernabeau by…”
September 1st, 2008 at 17:41
@Nelson Otiento: Hahaha! the queen is riding on with the chelski bandwagon
September 1st, 2008 at 17:43
arguably ronaldo > rooney. for now.
for all those who are still pissed at real,
would you rather burn calderon at a stake or boil him dead with oil???
September 1st, 2008 at 17:45
@dan(u-ol): Agree! Yeeyy!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:46
@john freakin’ o’shea: Boil him, no doubt! The oil sounds more terrible!
September 1st, 2008 at 17:47
@John:I thought you went to take a nap.
are you sleep-talking
September 1st, 2008 at 17:50
Apparently all this stuff is making me such! (sleep-talking)
September 1st, 2008 at 17:52
The oil sounds like a fitting fate for him, no doubt, but he’s not really the bad guy here. No-one is. Our top scorer wanted to go to his childhood dream club and we said he couldn’t. If anything we’re the bad guys, not that I imagine any of us give a crap.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:54
rather than boil him… id just tie him to the centre circle at the nou camp and let the pigs heads do the work
September 1st, 2008 at 17:56
Andrei yeah it is crazy. He is worth 20 million and Id accept another five million because we’re in the same league and are Champions. But 35 million or whatever Tottenham are asking for and will probably get is ludicrous.
But then transfer prices between English clubs have always been ridiculous.
I’d like us to boycott the English market and look for the few good deals that are available on the continent. But then we are liable to end up with Djembas, Forlans, Klebersons and all the other mid-range transfers that blew up in our faces.
Football is a sellers’ market so as a buying club we are liable to get screwed over and over. But maybe that is the price of success.
September 1st, 2008 at 17:58
@Will: That sounds fun. If that ever becomes available, Im there!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:00
Are City really going to be as rich as the other cunts who play in blue??? if not richer??? ANYBODY???
September 1st, 2008 at 18:02
@Ishaq(South Africa): Doubt it, but “Only God Knows”.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:04
heres my thinking…. citeh have bid for…. berbatov… villa and mario gomez… i think they want ONE of these 3 and which ever it is they will be happy. but to me.. it screems football manager… i mean.. who else has got to the last day of the window.. with 23million and 4 targets… you put in bids for all of them… as soon as one signs you forget the other 3… a bit of a vague analogy but i suspect thats whats happening… now what pisses me off is if they have bid for the villa and mario gomez… why do they need to bid for berba… utter cunts.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:06
Berbatov in a car going into manchester. Wether he is on his way to citeh, to a hospital for a united medical, or to old trafford to be paraded about is yet to be discovered. Expect a big hint as to where he will be going based on his destination… All this from SSN.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:07
@Ishaq(South Africa): I haven’t got confirmed proof, but Chelsea fans are saying that the new City owners are 10 times richer than RA. That is one crazy rich club now…
Latest rumours on BBC say that Peter Kenyon’s been spotted on his way to City. That would be Brilliant. What a feckin cash glutton.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:07
@Will: Becuase they know there is no chance of beating us. They are just looking at the opportunities. I guess they think we cant beat them without Berba.
And who knows, they might just try to impress the fans by showing ambition.
HA-HA
Most stupid opportunity: They think City are United.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:08
Will:
Citeh are drunk with money .that is the only logical conclusion i can think of.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:11
@Nelson Otieno: Nothing about today has been logical!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:11
Like me, does anyone else feel we should have more than two Transfer Deadline Days in an year?
This is feckin brilliant!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:13
@antsBoy: i bet robinho wishes there was. looks like he’s gonna sulk on the sidelines at real..
September 1st, 2008 at 18:16

September 1st, 2008 at 18:17
@Will: Dude, never say never. 6 hours is still a lot of time. Would love to see him sulking though. And Scolari too
September 1st, 2008 at 18:21

September 1st, 2008 at 18:33
City have bid for Robinho
Whos next? Ronaldo(fatty), Kaka, Rivaldo? Those guys are seriously thinking this is football manager.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:36
What the?!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:36
Back to some “actual” footie news, scans show that Torres may be out for 2-3 weeks…hahahaha. Would love to see them play against us without Stevie and Torres!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:39
i dont know my arse from my elbow with all thats goin on today, seriously messed up, still hopeful on berba deal, he would have to be completely daft to choose blue over red…..
September 1st, 2008 at 18:42
THIS THING IS NUTSSSS! AND I blooooody LOVE IT! Hope we all are still sporting our million dollar smiles once this thing ends! How much time to go on the clock for midnight in UK??
September 1st, 2008 at 18:43
bout 5 hrs 17mins, appar he’s just left uniteds carringtons where he might of haad a medical……….
September 1st, 2008 at 18:44
@Mihir: 5 hours and 17 minutes
September 1st, 2008 at 18:45
Anyone see that interview with the guy representing City’s new owners? Long and short of it was a) they know fuck all about football, b) they’re able and willing to spend outspend Roman and c) they will fire Mark Hughes if he doesn’t make the top four this season.
he thing is, apart from the top-four this season thing, their aims seem fairly realistic. They’ve got the money and can afford to blow it, the squad at City isn’t bad now and with (say) £150 mil to invest next summer and a truly fantastic manager (which could be Sparky, who knows?) they could really become a force. And once you have Champions League football to offer almost any player in the world will come to you if you’ve got the cash to throw around.
September 1st, 2008 at 18:45
@antsBoy:
HUZZAH! We already kick there asses when they have Torres and Gerrard! Without them they may not get into the attacking 3rd!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:45
@RedDevil: brilliant.. sheer genious.
im gonna love watching city play…. no defenders no midfield and 10 strikers… has sparky lost his tiny welsh mind?
September 1st, 2008 at 18:46
Berba is having a medical for Manchester United…
September 1st, 2008 at 18:47

You guys need to chill, RR is right, someone will die because of too much refreshing the web. That and the constant fear of not buying anyone lol. I wish groggy was here, he would’ve loved this
September 1st, 2008 at 18:56
my clicking fingers ist kaputt!
September 1st, 2008 at 18:58
im crackin up im crackin up,
September 1st, 2008 at 19:04
@Jezta: come on let us have this one day… we’ve had a whole bloody summer.. of ronaldo leaving… loosing the super cup and even vida moaning about the weather! this is the first good news of the season… that and saha has fucked off.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:07
what the….
18.41: Dimitar Berbatov has reportedly already had a medical with Manchester United but it would appear Spurs still have not given permission for him to talk with The Red Devils, which would spell big trouble for United?
Link
September 1st, 2008 at 19:08
The good news is that SAF is still our manager. We don’t need anyone else.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:17
@Will: I know we’ve not had the best summer and the best start but going crazy over transfer news on the last day isn’t helping out mate. Let’s just wait till there’s something on the official website.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:20
I wasn’t this much tensed even on my engineering result days…
My parents are gonna sue fergie if I die coz of heart attack…
Ronaldo - way way better than Rooney…
September 1st, 2008 at 19:35
Long time without any news now(15 mins). For a day like today, it feels like a lifetime.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:39
Hey everyone, just got a great new job up north. Lots of travelling involved. Will be going to Spain, Denmark and somewhere called Govan in the first few months alone. Anyone know where I can buy some good Vodka to celebrate? (Prefer Bulgarov if u know where they sell it)
September 1st, 2008 at 19:41
It is not like UNited to let know that they had a bid for a player accepted until the player gave a response. They didn;t even do tha with Ronaldo. See, Real Madrid made it public that Chelsea had bid for Robinho before the final outcome of this transfer became certain… Man Utd never does that, so they might have agreed a deal with Tottenham, but we just do not know about it.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:46
Yup, I agree things have slowed down a bit. But I bet that’s the calm before the storm. We’re in for the climax soon
September 1st, 2008 at 19:50
36 million offer from City for Berbatov, and Radio 5 reporting that Levy made a statement saying Berba does not have permission to speak to United, but only City now. I very much doubt United will get dragged into a bidding war, it is just up to Berbavtov to say he is not willing to go to City or anywhere else. Will he though?. Not if his agent is seeing ALL those ££££££££££££££ signs.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:51
Hi there everyone, just got a new job up here. I’m absolutely psyched, lots of money and lots of travelling, between now and Xmas we are off to Denmark, Spain and somewhere called Govan. Going out to celebrate with de lads tonight. Anyone know a bar that sells ZAGORKA beer? That’s all I drink now that I have given up the Levy Whine.
September 1st, 2008 at 19:52
bbc say tottenham have released a statement saying we haven’t got permission to hold talks with berbatov…wtf is going on?? are we illegally doing this????!!
September 1st, 2008 at 19:58
This puts the Tevez transfer to shame
September 1st, 2008 at 20:01
i dont think fergie cares if we are doing it illegally, as long as its a fine and not points deduction.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:09
i am about to go berserk.what the fuck
, i really hope i will be in good spirits after 12.00.01.
and OH fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccck u leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevyyyyyyyyyyyyy
September 1st, 2008 at 20:10
Apparently the new owners of Citeh have now bid £35m to stop Gustav “the Hurricane” going to New Orleans.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:11
It cant be illegal,if it is then fergies lost his mind, picking him up at the airport?and talking him for hours without permission??cant be
September 1st, 2008 at 20:13
No way would United carry out a medical illegally. United did have permission this morning to talk with Berbatov. So everything was probably done then. They were saying on Radio 5 that once City came in, Spurs phoned United and stopped the Berba deal. So who knows what is going on.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:15
manucho > rooney
September 1st, 2008 at 20:15
has fergie’s mind finally gone? unless there is something that we’re all missing… this seems to be sailing very close to the wind in terms of legality…. that said.. if berbatov wants to leave this much.. surely spurs should just take the money… whats the alternative? that he sits in the reserves all year whilst they pay his wages?
we shall see…
also.. i just found out that dong got released.. ha! i knew it.. purely for shirt sales..
September 1st, 2008 at 20:17
Berbatov better be damn good if we get him after all this bother!!
September 1st, 2008 at 20:18
ive got a suggestion to red ranter. since today i have set a personal record of the number of times ive refreshed this site, you should kinda like tweak the site that it auto refreshes say after 10 comments or so. it will be more coooooooool
manucho>roony x100000000000000000000000
September 1st, 2008 at 20:21
@Nelson Otieno: i second that idea!
rooney + berbatov > ronaldo?
September 1st, 2008 at 20:21
This is serious now. We CANNOT let the bitter blues get Berbatov. Period. The guy is in a class of his own, wants to come to Utd and Fergie is probably the only manager who can shake him out of any periods of sulk. Remember Cantona was something of a loose cannon before he resurrected his carreer at Old Trafford.
Why are we even haggling over a couple of million squid? We need a striker URGENTLY and Berb is the man. No doubt. It is now imperative that we sign him because if he goes to City you can bet he will perform well there and the blues will never stop taunting us about it. Buy Fergie, BUY!!
September 1st, 2008 at 20:26
What the hell is happening? I have been gone a couple of hours.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:27
Ronaldo + Rooney + Tevej + Berba = UCL + PL + FA
But… still…
Ronaldo - way way better than Rooney…
September 1st, 2008 at 20:28
Seriously, wo would have expected this to happen today? I would certanly not.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:30
@RedDevil: Honestly I thought I would wake up this morning, grap my coffee, scratch my balls and find out to my surprise that Berbs had already signed for us. Now I am just left scratching away.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:32
Damn its fucking 10:45 on my side. gotta sleep tommorow is a long day(and will be longer i wake up and see no additions to the squad.Peace am out
Manucho> Rooney+ John Oshea
September 1st, 2008 at 20:36
3.30 Hrs to go… and everything is quiet……………….
September 1st, 2008 at 20:36
Rooney>Berbatov+Robinho+Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 20:39
holy. . .
i’d like to see citeh get all those strikers.
next year we could probably get one or two on the cheap
September 1st, 2008 at 20:42
I have to say this is very worrying. Chelsea got threatened with a transfer embargo and point penalties if they didnt clean their act up. Spurs will almost certainly complain to every football governing body about us and with Platini and Blatter on a witch hunt against us we could be screwed.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:43
argh.. do i go pub? or do i stay and watch sky sports…. answer.. find pub with sky sports.. sometimes i do amaze myself.
come on berba… come to the red half of manchester, it’ll mean more shiny silver.
September 1st, 2008 at 20:45
Check out Citeh!? WTF! Even Sparky was struggling to hide a cheeky smile then on SPN! Bet he’s lovin it, still think Berba will choose United - but Levy accepting any offer seems unlikely seeing as hes put out press saying we have no permission…..
More drama here all night than anywhere on TV !
BurnleyBoy.
P.S. Shame on u Eagles (Straight Red @ the weekend) lol :o)

@Uncle Roy: where the hell did that come from :S
September 1st, 2008 at 20:53
@Uncle Roy: OH MY GOODNESS LOL
September 1st, 2008 at 20:56
@Uncle Roy: Effing Serious?????
September 1st, 2008 at 21:00
@Uncle Roy:
You can make the official site bring up most premiership players past and present by finding the corresponding team and player id’s. Someone the other day posted the link showing Dean Widness and Darren Anderton were part of our squad
September 1st, 2008 at 21:00
@Uncle Roy: Thats a fake, says he joined 9-9.06. Cant be serious.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:05
whats new?…any news ppl? this is killing me
September 1st, 2008 at 21:06
guys relax berba is ours. i’ve just been at MUTV and paddy creland says all that scrap on setanta, sky and bbc is not true. he goes on to ask ” is there anything those lads no that we dont know ?” “us and them who’s more informed than the other via this transfer issue” they are conc sure come tomorrow morning berba will be a red devil. viva united
September 1st, 2008 at 21:10
@RedDevil: I’m guessing it was Saha’s, only the name has been changed, no? lol.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:10
long live paddy
September 1st, 2008 at 21:10
@Uncle Roy: How did you find the link?
September 1st, 2008 at 21:20
would someone need to work for the site to change the name or could it be hackery at work?
September 1st, 2008 at 21:22
I can’t take this anymore. Pat Crerand on MUTV is convinced Berb will sign for UTD. But SSN and Setanta are saying he’s going to City. Hughes is apparently ’stunned’ that an offer has been put in. Bet he fuckin is. Just like a man who’s won the bleedin’ lottery. This deadline day will go down as the most dramatic in football history. Don’t any of you lot tell me to calm down. Berbatov is tailor made for Utd and HAS to come here. If you think otherwise you are only showing that you know very litle about the game.
Wake me up when it’s all over will you..but only if it’s good news!
September 1st, 2008 at 21:22
skysports.com says on the main page that Berba is having a medical in Manchester. Thats all the info. they give so I have no idea what that means, I would assume it is good news since he has been talking to United for awhile now. Hopefully some final information will come in the next couple of hours, but I am not getting my hopes up.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:25
All of these comments about Levy being pissed that United are talking to Berbs, but no one is quoting the guy. For me, Berbatov will be a Red Devil very soon.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:26
@Andrei: What type of an engineer are you, if you dont mind me asking…And lol people im sure City are filthy rich now…I mean has anyone ever seen Dubai? It makes New York look ancient…
September 1st, 2008 at 21:28
more news, Paddy says during his 20 minutes break offline he’s seen plenty of camera men and journalists and he goes on to say that ofcourse they are here for a reason. guys these lads are in OT in the studios so they are well equiped with info than all the others except gill and SAF. so fingers closed berba is in the box.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:28
fucking unbelievable …last day of the transfer window is bloody heart attacking drama….we should buy berba until now…this is huge lesson for fergi and gill…unbelievable
September 1st, 2008 at 21:29
Pictures of Berba outside the hospital in Manchester after his United medical are out! Looks like hes gonna be a RED DEVIL!
September 1st, 2008 at 21:29
FFS even using a differnt name and email didnt sort the moderation issue. And now my posts that were in moderation now seem to have been deleted. I was considering coming back fully but this is utter bullshit so i’m reconsidering again.
And ofc this post then went through without moderation
September 1st, 2008 at 21:34
@Ishaq(South Africa): I don’t mind you asking, but I am not an engineer… I am student of psychology…
But somebody here is an engineer, I remember him saying that he “wasn’t this nervous as he was waiting for his engineer results to come out” or some like that…
September 1st, 2008 at 21:35
@michael:
Lets try again, if this gets moderated though and I have to write this same thing for teh 2oth time im going to explode.
The website has players from all premiership teams past and present in it. Change the player and team id correctly and you get any player showing up. In the last week or so someone used it to show that we had signed Dean Widness and Darren Anderton.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:35
is it just me or do you guys notice that sporting life just steals all manchester evening news articles???
September 1st, 2008 at 21:36
@Ishaq(South Africa): It was AndyCR7 mate.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:37
Oh OK, thanks Wakey. Why though? Why does it not just have United players?
September 1st, 2008 at 21:37
@RedDevil: How do you know that:
a) that is the Manchester hospital?
b) that picture was taken today?
c) this is somehow related to United and not City?
Sorry to burst the bubble, but I am trying something new… called realism. See, sine I discovered that people laugh at optimist, I have decided to allign myself with the rest of the world, but pessimist is just too damn hard!.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 21:42
@Andrei: I dunno. Says so on Sky and Sportinglife.
Ronaldo - best player in the world
September 1st, 2008 at 21:43
@Andrei: lol oops my apologies Andrei…Got muddled up with the Andy/Andrei…Anywayz yea Andy @AndyCR7: Umm what type of an engineer are you? How many years did it take you? I go to varsity next year and my mind is like dead set on Aeronautical engineering*…
*Subject to change without notice(LOL)
September 1st, 2008 at 21:43
Sign on the fucking dotted line Berba you cunt. Do you want to be famous at the best club in the world or the same miserable twat playing for the most miserable fans in the world. It’s a no brainer maaan.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:43
SkySports clockwatch:
21.38 Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov is at Old Trafford as he gets set to complete his move to Manchester United. Berbatov has undergone a medical and has been pictured meeting Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill at the club’s stadium.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:45
Thank god for that!
now I wonder what kinda money we’re paying….
September 1st, 2008 at 21:46
@michael:
There’s probably a few potential reasons, the two i think are most likely are
1) The database entries are there for either a legacy feature of the site that isnt used anymore or a potential future feature
2) The player records are there because the company running the website either runs other teams sites or has ambitions to run other clubs sites. They could effectivly use the same framework and database and just change the look for each website (How i believe the sites that use premuimtv as their website operator do)
September 1st, 2008 at 21:46
@RedDevil: you ARE quick hahaha. I’ve been refreshing that every 30 seconds. i’ve got bbc, the guardian and sky sports transfer watches on.
September 1st, 2008 at 21:48
@Wakey: spurs have exactly the same website layout as united. would explain that. their membership is even called One Hotspur or something
September 1st, 2008 at 21:49
It has to be equal to what City’s bid was accepted for, or Frazier Campbell will be part of the deal of the dollar amount is lower. I will be sad to see Campbell leave as I wanted to see him get more of a chance at OT, but don’t know if I want to spend over 30 million. I assume United might of had to force a transfer through with an equal bid to City’s which forced are hand or maybe the Americans brought with them from there time in the NFL the crazy trades that have players from three teams being moved but I doubt it so I am guessing a larger bid.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:00
No problems, I do get called Andy a lot - it is sort of my nickname.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:03
RR: 324 comments in 12 hours, must blow your previous record out of the water
Apparently Man City have had a bid accepted for Robinho
September 1st, 2008 at 22:04
Shit! This is going to happen. Are we seriously paying £30m+ for Berbatov? WTF!! I would prefer Robinho who is going to City (?) for a similar price
September 1st, 2008 at 22:05
big news…£32m bid for robinho by man city has been given the green light by Real. eat that chelski!
September 1st, 2008 at 22:05
Robinho on his way to City! WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY, HAS THE WORLD GONE INSANE?!
September 1st, 2008 at 22:07
From worrying about our targets getting knicked from right under our noses as the rest of the league laughed on, it looks like now well be the ones to sit back and laugh while the shitty worry chelsea over robinho for the next two hours HA! what a night!
September 1st, 2008 at 22:07
Sky are reporting a 40m euro bid was accepted by Madrid for Robinho.
Setanta reckon that the fee for Berbatov has been agreed and Campbell is part of the deal.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:12
Feckin hell..it’s 2.41am and I’m still waiting…
(well, I’ll try n sleep at work tomorrow)
But it better be worth it! Berbaaaaaaaaa…sigggnnnnn!
September 1st, 2008 at 22:13
lads if we do sign berba for that little bit extra bit of cash, honestly who cares, he’s gonna bring that extra dimension to our play which give us that added boost up front that is definately worth the extra quid, sure it sounds like its gonna be an inflated price, but im just too excited to care and uniteds official photographer has apparently arrived……… woofookinhoo
September 1st, 2008 at 22:14
Citeh are pimping big time, anyone you want, they’ll pay cash! lol Talk about drama!
Still no response from Spurs but all signs at United are pointing to an official signing and photo shoot so who knows.
Gripping drama from the final transfer day, good sheet.
BurnleyBoy.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:22
Could somebody please tell me what the time is in England
September 1st, 2008 at 22:23
ok Berba, you are going to have to really light it up and be at the top of your game until you are about 33 to prove to me you weren’t a complete waste of money. How long does everyone give until the media are on his back? Also noises are coming from Spurs that this is an illegal move. I still can’t believe that we are going to pay so much for a 27 year old
September 1st, 2008 at 22:23

Count Dracula will be ours by midnight. The transfer deal that has risen from the dead. Ha ha. I am funny but all my comments await moderation. Sorry for calling Berb the ‘c’ word earlier. It was just high spirits guv. The guy makes time stop still when he gets the ball. The perfect antidote to Rooney’s boundless energy. It’s gonna work guys, believe me. It’s going to be magical.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:28
Berba tov-tov-tov
He told Tottenham to beep off!
Berba tov-tov-tov
We told City to beep off!
With his left With his right

September 1st, 2008 at 22:46
Mark Hughes was interviewed on Radio 5, an hour or so ago. I heard the interview with my own ears. When asked about Berbatov, he said, well we have had a bid accepted by Spurs, so we have tried to get him. But the lad has made his position clear for a long time now, and everybody knows that he wants to play for United. Still, we are in their trying, and letting everyone know that from now on we are very seriously going to be competing with everyone for the top players. He said he hoped to get a chance to speak to Berbatov, but it is very late in the day now, and he didn’t sound very hopeful.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:47
@Mike: That’s like 20min old mate..seems there’s new vids of him signing a contract!!!
SURREAL.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:47
would rather keep campbell he is fast as shit and young too.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:48
@hiepdn: Well.. That just proves it, Robinho is a greedy money-grabbing cunt. His ‘desire’ to play for the rent-boys hah! What a joke. Thanks mate for the picture.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:49
I am not worried about who our compition is for the player, but I am worried we are going to be docked points. spurs have been dying to get the evidence needed to see we have done wrongly and they see a great chance to shaft united. I have been not impressed with spurs manchester united and berbertov the whole thing stinks including the price to pay for this player.

Berba doesn’t need the media on his back Liam, when he has United fans like you on his back already.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:53
Jetza, Robhino just wants out of Real M. He would have come to us and not stopped running all the way, but Chelski was the only club in for him. Don’t think its’s the money mate. Chelski messed up when they sold replica shirts and didn’t even have the player yet. Football transfers are getting dirtier and dirtier.
September 1st, 2008 at 22:57
To the tune of er yer know…”The whole things daft” song or “premier league, You’r anin a laugh:
We’ve got Rooney
He looks like Shrek
But Berbatov will bite your fuckin’ neck.

September 1st, 2008 at 23:07
and spurs
September 1st, 2008 at 23:11
@gator: Ive beaten you too it. I transferred Berba to United, nr.9, and Corluka to Spurs, Quaresma to Inter and Robinho to City. Berba has scored 7 goals in 4 games for me. 1 against Real Madrid, 2 vs Spurs, 0 vs Inter(sub for Tevez, 67 mins) and 4 vs City(with Robinho). Ive updated my United lineup. What do you think about this:
VDS
Brown Vidic Rio Evra
Ronaldo Anderson Rooney Nani
Tevez Berbatov
subs: Foster, Rafael, Neville, Hargreaves, Carrick, Giggs, Scholes.
I RULE ON FIFA 08. Im ready for FIFA 09.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:12
What the hell is going on, I am biting my nails that we don’t get bad news that we could be docked points. What the hell is man utd playing at. man utd better not have done it by breaking the rules otherwise the christiano ronaldo saga would show united as hypocrites and black kettle.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:13
@RedDevil: is rafael in the game?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:15
Of course Berbatov was ’sulky’ at Spurs. But why not replace ’sulky’ with just ‘unhappy’. Now watch him start smiling. We will soon see how much he wants to play for the champions of England and Europe. I know we should give him some time to settle in before we judge him but I can’t help imagining a brilliant start for him. With the delivery he will get from our wide players (at a level of quality Spurs could never reach). I cannot wait. The guy doesn’t need 4 or 5 chances to score like some of our forwards I could mention. Berbatov is cool and lethal in front of goal. I am so chuffed. I have of course convinced myself we are going to sign him. Has anybody else?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:15
@RedDevil niiiiiiice
if you play online cant you have them update it for you frome their sight?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:15
@dan(u-ol): Yes. Search for Rafael when you look for transfer possibilities and youll find him in a brazillian club, dont remember the name. Fabio isnt in it though.
But Rafael is, date of birth and all confirms it. He actually looks like him too.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:16
I tr@gator: I transfered Berbs to United a while ago, however there is no room for him on the pitch because in Fifa 08 my created self is better than Berbs.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:18
yea me too i have benz berba aguerro and hunter and am in jan transfer window waiting to sell some of them to get the final squad hahaha
September 1st, 2008 at 23:18
@RedDevil: I think the clubs name is fluminges? Something like that I think. When you search for names in trasfers you will find him. I transferred him in July!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:19
@dan(u-ol): I think the clubs name is fluminges? Something like that I think. When you search for names in trasfers you will find him. I transferred him in July!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:21
@gator: Fifa 09 cannot come soon enough. Come to think of it, neither can the end of this bloody hour. I hope this isn’t one of those situations where all the proceedings are done by midnight, but there is not an announcement until tomorrow!!!!

berba will wear the number 9…’official news’
September 1st, 2008 at 23:22
That’s enough fantasy football for now. We are about to sign Berbatov!!!?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:22
Fluminense! That is the name!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:23
@RedDevil: Fluminese
September 1st, 2008 at 23:23
So it’s confirmed…Robinho to Shitty for 40m euros…I can’t wait to see Scolari’s n Kenyon’s faces!!! And the two teams play each other in 2 weeks time too..magical.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:24
FIFA 09 is in the European shops 3rd October 2008.
SkySports say that Berbatov will wear the nr.9 shirt this season.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:25
@themec: I thought signing Berbatov was a fantasy mate?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:26
3 hours after Uniteds win against Liverpool at Anfield is a fact City will welcome Chelski to the City of Manchester stadium. If Robinho makes his debut then, I hope he scores.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:27
SSN says that we have submitted the paperwork to the authorities…it’s just a matter of time….
BERBA-NINE-TIME!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:27
Real M say THEY have made an agreement. Nowhere does it say that Robinho has agreed to go to City. It could just be Madrid trying to screw more money out of Chelski. It may be another Berba scenario, where the player only wants to go to Chelski. We’ll see.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:30
Setanta says we ‘appear’ to be wiining the battle’ to sign him. What battle. Are SAF and Hughesie having fisty cuffs or what?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:31
am im stupid or is it impossible for robinho to have a medical in 30mins, flyin from spain, does he have his own personal mill falcon or can the medical be completed 2moro?????
September 1st, 2008 at 23:34
Only 25 minutes left to go, i’m getting a touch worried, i know it’s only a matter of time, but sadly time is running out!!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:34
I think that as long as you provide evidence to the FA that any move was delayed by technical difficulties, they will allow for the player to be registered at a alter date.
Rooney - better than Ronaldo
September 1st, 2008 at 23:35
@Jononotbono: Millenium Falcon…LOL!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:35
Robinho is currently in Brazil. Where it is reported Anderson has become injured (the injury hasn’t been named though).
I would imagine that instead of having a medical they’ll just blindly buy him
September 1st, 2008 at 23:36
Also, I think that I’ll have to change my F5 button. I kept count… have pressed it about 1000 times today.
Transfer deadline day - best day of the summer by far.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:37
Phew! I’ve never followed a deadline day quite like this before. Will we know for definite (either way) at midnight?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:41
god tonight is 25 mins away from being one of the best nights there have been since this silly transfer deadline rubbish lol… entertaining though innit? I would love a link to a Chelsea blog to see what there fans are going through haha
September 1st, 2008 at 23:43
THIS IS AWSOME!!! I have never, ever experienced anything like today before. And its still not over. 18 minutes to go! I wonder if Berba will get his debut against Pool or Villareal. Aw, well as long as youre here, thats what matters to me! Welcome home Dimitar!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:43
@Nick:
Anderson injured? Oh hell.
September 1st, 2008 at 23:47
I’m refreshing about 8 websites fucking announce it already!!
September 1st, 2008 at 23:50
I think they’re going to wait till 11:59:58. Just like we get our last-min goals…oh wait, do they have injury time here too?
September 1st, 2008 at 23:51
I honestly think we need Berbatov to retain the European cup. Sublime genius added to the genius we already have.

September 2nd, 2008 at 0:13
Will:
It’s been a crazy night. City have just become the new chelski but I believe the biter blues will drag it all down soon enough. Why aren’t they announcing this signing? The window is now officially CLOSED!!

September 2nd, 2008 at 0:37
We got him (according to SSN) 30.75 is quite hefty but at least spurs have dropped their silly feud now, wahey!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:37
0034: ENORMOUS BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS
The Spurs website says they have agreed to sell Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United for £30.75m, with Fraizer Campbell going to Spurs on a season-long loan. Did you get all that?
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:38
Brilliant. Frazier only on loan! soooo happy we got the best of this deal… so glad we didnt let Frazier go permanentley
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:38
say ooh aah berbatov, say ooh aah berbatov!
say ooh aah berbatov, say ooh aah berbatov!
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:39
season long loan! does that mean after a year he can fuck them off and come home?!
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:39
congratulations to us and all united fans worldwide
hope he turns out to be one hell of a signing
on an even brighter note, my comments are finally going through. things are looking up
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:41
What an anti climax. Where is the announcement? Well I’m going to bed and trying to convince myself that the Berb will be scoring his debut goal against the scousers. That’s the dream I hope I have…..
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:41
We win, i can finally go to bed now
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:42
Bloody hell Robinho at Man City. Add Jo and Elano to the mix and you have samba fever.
And WE HAVE BERBATOV. OK 30 million is way too much but as Tottenham wanted 35 million we at least weren’t held to ransom. I’m delighted Campbell went the other way. He has a better chance of getting games there and if he can gel with Tottenham’s impressive team then he will have a good chance of stepping up to play for us in the future.
And Fergie once again got his man!
Roll on Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney and Berbatov the best forward line by far in the entire world
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:43
@Will:
I would imagine so….yay 450th comment
September 2nd, 2008 at 0:44
At last! A warm welcome to DB. Now I can sleep easy. Things can only get better.
