Dream on…

Tag: Opinions/Columnsk9 @ 10:30

First things first, Ha ha ha ha in the face of the ‘dippers. They really, really need to rethink their gameplan. Benitez was hoping for a 1:0 before halftime so that he could sit out the second half in the trenches. Sadly, he underestimated the United backline and overestimated his own ageing one.

Now, onto other things. Arsenal win at home against Chel$ki. Nice game too, for snoring through. The gooners were in fine counteracking form and the Russian circus put on another priceless show of absolute ineffectualness. But I’ve got to say, they were pretty tight defensively, conceding only thanks to a ‘keeper’s error of judgment.

How is this going to affect us in the weeks to come? Well, for one, the league is now a two horse race more or less. Chelsea are five points down and have lost Terry to what appears like a ruptured metatarsal. Liverpool are definitely out. I’m looking forward to Benitez’s sacking in the next two months because with his defensive outlook, the Merseysiders aren’t going to see too many goals coming their way. A draw here, a loss there, and they should be a healthy 12 or 15 points adrift.

Arsenal are a point up. Just one point. What is the bet they are going to lose quite a deal of those in January especially with the African Nations cup at hand? Toure, Eboue and Sagna (RR: Sorry K9, he’s French) are out, leaving them with one Gallas and one Clichy for first choice defenders. Moreover, Wenger has built a one man team, whether he likes it or not. Their prime mover, Fabregas, is not been dipped in the river Styx either. The guy is certain to miss a couple of games through injury and the Goons are sure to stumble.

If all goes well with United, we should see Gary’o returning in January. I’ll keep my fingers crossed on that one. That should make a world of difference to us what with his running down the right flank and his brilliant crosses. An Evra down the right, if you will. Think of the possibilities. Rooney isn’t doing too well yet, admitted. But we’ve stopped depending on a full fledged striker as of last season. Park is coming back, to give us that much additional speed down either flank. Scholes, our playmaker and by far our best attacking midfielder, should be back in time to start by late January. Things are brightening up and then some.

I know I may be a bit out of my depth here, but I’ll stick my neck out nonetheless. By February, with a bit of luck, we should be sitting pretty atop the table with a at least a 5 point lead. And success this season, like last season, should be well within grasp. The only real worry now is the January transfer window (barring injuries, of course). I hope Fergal isn’t pressurized by the Glazers to do a sale of some player, because that would be disastrous considering how well this team is gelling together. Fucks to all those people who will point out to Ronnie’s selfishness, or Rio’s bling thing. That is nothing compared to how well these guys are playing in the face of adversity. I know this for sure now because of what I saw today. If Anfield isn’t adversity, I don’t know what is.

So to all you lovable fellow reds, Dream on! Let’s hope that this time around, we face Kaka and company with a full squad in the Finals. I’d like to see Ancelotti smirk then…Cheerio…

are you the one that wrote this article about 2 yrs ago which yyou wanted to get rid of fergi becauce hes old finished and so on

Spot on mate.I am of the feeling that
come march we should be in charge of
proceedings so we can concentrate on
    going to moscow.Hopefully by then
rooney should be on fire to carry us
    through.I believe ronaldo will start
    performing(against the big teams) as
    soon as Anderson starts getting
involved in taking the opposition to
    pieces ala kaka/young scholes

I think not qualifying for carling cup has been our best result its give us time to rest players and the temptation of playing first teamers doesn’t come into the equation also qualifying early for champ league another extra weeks rest. 12 out of 12 over xmas has to be acheived or anything more than arsenal!!!

If we play milan with a team full of players we didnt have last season, they would get ruined. Vidic, Neville, Owen, Anderson, Tevez, even Nani. They are a good attacking side. but only good. They are not great like…Us or Arseanal. Barcelona, Real and Inter.Thay only rely on Kaka and Inzaghi, belive it or not. Their way of scoring goals is either set pieces, or play the ball to Kaka, then he has the ball a little before he gives it to inzaghi, who is only 2 yards out. I mean, that guy cant play football. They have a defence older than my grandma! How cant players like Giggs, Rooney, Tevez, Anderson, Scholes and Ronaldo break that down. By the way, do you think we would have won if we played with two strikers against them? Like Smith and Rooney? I dont rate Giggs or Ronnie as strikers.
And how did Ronaldo get behind Leo Messi in FIFA worldplayer of the year. Alright second behind Kaka, but behind Messi? Like, what the fuck??! What did he do last season, beside being injured. Even Tevez deserves to be before Messi. He did more for West Ham and us , that that kid did for Barca.
Congrats to Ronaldo, I still think you are the best player by miles.
Why dont Arsenal lose Adebayor? He is from Togo, and they are in Africa. If not, I fucked up in geography.Toure is a major loss, though. Senderos is goingto replace him in one month, and that is good for us.That guy dont know how to tackle or how to pass. the only thing he knows is to head a ball across his own six yard-box. Might become some own goals there! Chel$ki will lose Essien, Drogba, Mikel, Kalou(not a major loss) and Malouda. That is not exactly reserve players!
    Good luck to them(NOT)!!!

Adebayor is from Togo. Togo is in Africa. True.
But Togo did not qualify for the African Nations’ Cup.
And Malouda is from France. Unless he’s injured, they don’t lose him.

I think, K9 was not the one who wrote any article on Fergie 2 years ago. (Correct me if I am wrong, K9)

    Anyhow, Alan, explain your point.

  7. Martin S. says:

Excellent rant dude. It looks good for us, given Arse’s christmas scheme compared to ours and the fact they will lose key players to African Nations Cup.

If Ronaldo again turns up as he did last christmas (he’s in quite impressive form now, the Lpoo’ game the exception), then we should be a couple of points before any other team in Prem by 12th of january. :D

Mmmmm - don’t count yor chickens before they hatch.
I’m ManU thru and thru, but too many of our strikers
are dreadful away from home. Ronaldo, Rooney and esp
Giggs seem very ordinary in away matches. Yet they turn
it on at home - can’t understand it really. Ronaldo
needs to stop fancy footwork in away games, because he
needs to get passing and contribute more to team play.
We need team effort away from Old Trafford, and fancy,
and often fruitless fancy dan tiptoeing should be out
the window. Sorry if anyone is offended, but that’s
    my opinion.

Glad to see that I’m not the only one wishing that we get AC Milan again this season…the sooner, the better!

  10. sunny says:

sorry mate, pointless article .nothing here that we already don’t know.and don’t underestimate other top teams.i mean, any team can lose 2 games and other can win 2 in a fortnight.then the looks of the table will change too.

  11. Conor says:

Craig the fact that Ronaldo does tricks in away matches means nothing, he contributes to the team greatly, home and away, same for Rooney, and Giggs just hasn’t really hit any sort of form as of yet this season. Ronaldo puts in a great amount of effort, I’m sorry but does scoring goals and making goals not count as team effort? the fact that he’s probably the only selfish player in our team should not change your opinion of him for the worse, selfisness can be an assest if used right, and more often than not it works to our advantage, just llok at the amount of goals he scores.

  12. Faizan says:

If utd continue their good form,i think they will be miles ahead of the other teams by january.
