And I forgot. I would give Querioz the job after Fergie as well. Hes been vitally important to us, and deserves his chance at no 1. Hes got a very good track record. Hes a fantastic coach.

And before anyone throws the Real Madrid card at me, he was unfairly treated at Madrid.

Basically, I agree with everything Frankie said about him. Top comment Frankie!

Fantastic article. All true, although you should mention (as someone has in comments) our transfer deals out.

But, talking about right-backs and strikers, no to Alves and no to Henry. Crazy. Alves can't defend to save himself, and Henry coming would be crazy. I would go for someone like Lahm who can play both full-back roles and is good defensively and attackingly from what I've seen.

For the strikers, I would love David Villa, he would fit in to our already great team as hes a great finisher and is also very quick and mobile but he is probably going to be over-priced. So I would go for Santa Cruz. 20 goals and 6 assists in 40 games for Blackburn, great goalscorer, good target man, good holding up, positioning, and he had a fantastic game on the right wing against us. Their both different to the players we already have, albeit they are both VERY different to each other.

Apart from 2 of those 3, we don't really need anymore than that.

I agree with Grognard that much of the credit for the transfers-in has to go to Carlos Queiroz and his connections.

But Ahmed, you've given us only half the picture. What about the transfers out? United did some really good business last summer: Heinze (£8m); Rossi (£6.7m); Smith (£6m); Richardson (£5.5m) and don't forget that Tim Howard was also sold at the end of a loan period for £3m. That little lot amounted to almost £30m. Richardson, Smith and Heinze have not exactly pulled up any trees at their new clubs, and United retain an option on Rossi.

Hargreaves' purchase was from the 2006 summer kitty. So basically United got Anderson and Nani (about £30m) for Smith, Richardson, Heinze, Rossi and Howard. In my view, that was pretty good business. Anderson and Nani have already made important contributions to United's cause this season, and in time will become world stars.

The blend of English, European and South American styles looks on course to producing one of the great United sides.

When Ferguson retires, I don't see any reason why United should look any further than Queiroz. Bear in mind that many of the players are there because of Queiroz. He has a special bond with a good number of them: Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, Tevez readily come to mind. Queiroz deserves to be given a season or two after Ferguson, to see whether he can continue the magic.

Getting rid Queiroz would be undeserved. It would rock the club, undermine team spirit, lead to some top players leaving the club and cause the sort of ructions that Mourinho's departure caused at Chelsea. No, let's stick with what we've got. Queiroz is a fine coach.

I really don't think we need a Berbatov/Huntelaar type striker. While it would be nice to have a player of that calibre and style to bring off the bench, it's unrealistic to expect that a player like that would settle for less than 20 starts per season, especially when so many others are interested. And the last time we had a "clinical finsher" in Ruud we didn't play nearly as well as we do now. What we need is a lightning fast striker with an eye for goal, one that has the intelligence to be truly involved in our build up play, but also the intelligence to wait for the right ball and then the ability to take those chances. As I've said here before, I really think Aguero would be a bargain at anything under 30million. He's been top-class this season, Atletico haven't missed Torres at all.

Alves would only be worth going for if he's going cheapish AND Chelsea want him. No RB is worth 25 million. I'd rather we go for someone who can play both sides as an understudy to Evra/Brown/Neville. Another good young winger would be handy, ditto central midfield.

hell yeah man...alves would b a wonderful signing and he can play as a winger as well....and well istillthink manucho is d answer 2 our problem of tall strikers so maybe we just need to loan a striker till we evaluate manucho properly..how about thierry henry anyone:P...sound outrageous but hes missing his daughter his form and hi confidence...it would be a win-win situatin for all 3 parties..manutd have a quality striker till we're sure manucho is good enough and it gives him that extra time to adapt to the game..barca hav ther man back in confidence and form nd henr meets gets to b closer to his daughter and play as a central striker..4 a while at least
1 more thing..park ji sung showed some flair duri his 1st seson but after the injuries hes got hes sort of lost it.It would be great if he regained it...mae him an even better signg

Quality Article, I agree with everything you say 100%, keep it up! As for a striker to go for we need a target man, as for suggestions im looking at Berbatov or Wellbeck/Mauncho as that tall, quick powerful striker. We also need a quality attacking right full back, Alves comes to mind here. Buy those two SAF and we are set!

Very good Ahmed. Too true mate. I will add this though. A lot of credit must go to Queiroz, his Portuguese connections and the entire scouting department because it is impossible for Fergie to notice all these players without all that help. And we must also send out a special thanks to Sporting Lisbon for being such a fine and responsive farm team. Who's next? Veloso, Moutinho, Huntelaar, Palacios etc? whoever it is I have faith that Fergie knows what the heck he is doing.

No. He played two more games and didn't score so 1 goal in 3 appearances for him. Not a good loan I'm afraid, still hopeful he gets the Work Permit!
