Heinze Set to Leave OT
Sir Alex has confirmed that Gabriel Heinze will leave OT.
Well, what else do you want me to say? It’s a hard thing to digest but since SAF has himself confirmed it, he is moving. So what now? Mikael Silvestre would stay for another season, surely.
Would any good come of this transfer? Not if he goes to Liverpool. Just pray he goes to Madrid.
The money might be handy. But it comes and leaves us with a sick taste in the mouth.

If Heinze leaves we are going to have to buy a new left-back because the only other cover we have are center backs who wont be playing in their best positions. SAF did say “the player’s agent says he wants too leave, I’m not sure this is the case though and we have had no concrete offers.” So it is coming from Heinze’s agent and not him and fergie seemed to want to keep him so nothing is for sure yet although after today I would expect plenty of offers to start rolling in…

I am absolutely gutted for a number of reasons. Although I have faith in SAF, I find it hard to understand how he can rate Evra higher than Heinze? Does Gaby’s form at the Copa and at season end not show that he is once again finding his old form and will be once again the best left back in the world? SAF should have shown more encouragement and come out and bloody well promised Heinze his position back in the starting eleven. Christ! Then you have Heinze bloody well convince Tevez, his close friend to sign with Man Yoo, only to want to bolt to Liverpool of all places. Man Yoo and SAF showed no loyalty to Heinze and now he is paying them back by wanting to sign with Liverpool where Captain Rotator will have him sit half the games so that lesser players can squander valuable Prem points from Liverpool’s League quest. I think Heinze and SAF should stick their pride in their collective pockets and have a sit down and talk things out. Man Yoo needs Heinze or we are in trouble if Evra were to be injured. With Heinze as the starting leftback, Evra will be there for backup, just where he belongs. TO BOTH PARTIES HEINZE AND SAF, PLEASE WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES. Heinze belongs with Man Yoo.

Finally some ppl who feel the Heinze should be starting and actually dissapointed in him leaving. They should know by now that we would rather play with him then against him. He is a solid left back and Silvestre is getting no playing time so he should be the one to go. With Neville, Vidic, Ferdinand, Heinze we have a very strong defence. Then we will have Pique, Evans, Evra and O’Shea on the bench which is great. I dont believe he was given a better chance coming back from the injury he had last season. Watching him in the Copa, he was great, cant say the same for Ayala. Also Evra is a good left back as well but defensively heinze has him beat and offensively evra is better. But we need a defensive left back and not a wing back.

totally disagree.while i feel gabby should stay i think evra is a better player. Yes i said it evra is a better player.he is much quicker the heinze and doesnt get beaten for pace as much as heinze.evra also doesnt dive in carelessly like heinze.on top of that evra is still improving which i cant say for gabby.hope he stays though.this is just my opinion

i’m sad 2 see heinze go! it’s not a done deal yet and he was qouted sayin he influenced tevez decision 2 sign for utd. if he does go SAF should take a look at royston drenthe from feynoord, he’s only 20 so may not mind being evra’s back up for a year or to and is already a quality player. he was voted best player at the under21 european championship. SAF should enquire before chelski or madrid get the player! he is really a promising player and would stop any dissapointment that heinx’s departure will leave.

Absolutely gutted to hear this! Question for Ahmed, et al - if(?) Heinze leaves, should we buy a replacement or keep our faith with Evans and Pique? I feel that if we buy a replacement, it will set back the development of these two kids.

Well think of it dis way, wen we sell heinze 2 Madrid we can win de EPL again next season, remember we sold Ruud 2 them nd they won…. jus made dis comment bout de statistics which was put up a couple o weeks bk concernin de la liga nd de premiership…..
July 17th, 2007 at 6:22
Doubtful we will buy a replacement, with Tweety and the youngsters around.

Shit happens. I wish him luck Provided he doesn’t do to the dippers…
July 17th, 2007 at 7:39
Can’t SAF and Queiros pull the same stunt like when they convinced Ronaldo to say?
July 17th, 2007 at 8:20
[Karl]
Any stunt that they wished to have pulled ought to have been pulled earlier. It’s quite obvious that SAF wasn’t too keen to have him at OT. I am pretty sure that if Fergie really wanted Heinze to stay he might have gone to great lengths to persuade him. I bet he hasn’t even met him post Copa America and may not have made too much efforts in keeping him. He really rates Evra higher, I guess. (And sadly, rates even Silvestre above him!)
July 17th, 2007 at 8:58
I don’t think there’s any way he rates Silvestre above him Red
Ranter. I think he rates Evra above him, and it would be easier
to keep Silvestre happy on the bench than Heinze. I wish him Gabbi
luck, but not if he goes to Liverpool. Hopefully, Madrid will come
in because they need a left back.
Indian Punk.. Regarding Richardson.. I hope he does well there and
wish him the best of luck. He was a small fish in a big pond at Utd.
He proved he can play when given the chance at West Brom. But Utd
couldn’t afford to give him that much time to get into a groove. I
hope he does well for Keano too. No matter how crap many of you
think he is, he was still a Utd player.
July 17th, 2007 at 8:59
RedRanter, I guess you’re right. I never really though of it that way.
If he really wanted Heinze, he would not even have allowed this to go public.
Real pity though
July 17th, 2007 at 9:20
I agree De_Roiste he was a utd player after all but somehow i felt he was never a part of the big guns in premiership but i pray he does good for keano
July 17th, 2007 at 12:40
I don’t agree that Ferguson doesn’t rate him.
Heinze has had his injury problems but towards the end of last season Ferguson made him captain.
At the moment it is only ‘agent speak’. So we can live in hope

I suppose if/when he goes Drenthe would be a good replacement and a lot of those Dutch youngsters(Babel excluded) have gone pretty cheap. Look at Rigters and De Ridder who both went for under 1m pounds. I would still prefer Gaby to stay though
