It’s Ronnie’s Mum’s Turn Now To Join The Real Act + Other Stories

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:07

Oh yes. It’s very clear how desperate Real are to get Ronaldo, and this time it is with his mom. She spoke to AS — which, of course, has been ridiculed for it’s Madrid bias in the past — and said that she would like to see him play for Madrid before she dies.

These rumours, of agents and clubs talking about players, do wear you down but something like this can only make you go ‘What the Fuck!’ Coarse as that may sound, it does express the emotion quite clearly and succinctly.

Owen Hargreaves has gatecrashed a press conference and grabbed the microphone from Louis Saha (who was actually sitting there for the past few weeks) to say what his mate was saying all along: that he is fully fit. However, Owen’s declaration seems a little more convincing because he’s not repeated it as often as our Porcelain Frenchman.

Phil Bardsley, our once promising full back, has now joined Sunderland for £2 million. I wouldn’t be too surprised with that. We have seen more promising players being offloaded by the club. Bardsley, after making an impressive start to his United senior career has somewhat stagnated, as shown by his loan spells at Rangers and Villa. So for £2m it is a good bit of business. However, with the umpteenth ex-Manchester United player signed by Keano, I have every cause for worry. I know he’s not too experienced as a manager and has had an outstanding first season, as well as a distinguished playing career against which he’s been judged. But his approach to signing only players that he knows well strikes me as little naive. For his sake I hope Sunderland avoid relegation and he manages to build a better team with a better scouting staff next season.

In other news, the FA hasn’t taken any action against SAF for his ‘obscene gesture’. I thought it was a non-issue when Steve Coppell and his assistant didn’t think anything wrong of that act. Oh well, good that it’s cleared up.

Anderson has made it to Brazil’s squad for a friendly against Ireland. Which is good to know because it will be interesting to see how Dunga plays him in the team. In the Copa America he was played in an attacking role. But having seen his powerhouse performances at the heart of the United midfield, it quite possible that he gets a similar role — thus lending some much needed steel to the Brazil team.

Before I end this, HAHAHAHA to the Arse. Not just for the 5-1 caning at the hands of Spurs, but for this rather howlarious (allow me licence to use this word) fight between Adebayor and Bendtner.

Another big HAHAHAHA goes to the ‘dippers as they fall further away off the pace. In a funny way the owners seem the more sensible of the lot as they think Benitez is not good enough. While the fans are firmly behind Rafa. In fact, I am with the Scousers on this; keep Rafa in Liverpool, you won’t win a league title for another few years.

And one more extra piece that you can read to keep yourself entertained: ‘Scientific Reason for Ronaldo missing the penalty against West Ham.’ Weren’t penalty kicks more a test of ones’ nerves, or simply, lottery? Hmm… apparently that’s not reason enough for some people. Enormous amusement abounds!

I see no problem with Ronnie’s mum being honest to her family and friends, but to sell out a story to a sensationalist newspaper is a bit low-brow. Then again, she has her own agenda, and you just have to agree to disagree with her.

For me Ronaldo is a bit of twin-edged blade. Yes, at the moment he is shredding through the premiership, scoring at will and single-handedly screaming to the world, look at me, I’m really, really f*cking good. And it’s true. But, watching us without him in the team shows that we do lack some imagination. We’re becoming reliant on him. And I know all teams are reliant on their stars, but perhaps the eleven on the pitch almost become complacent, waiting for that ‘piece of magic’, which invariably this season has been expected to come from no. 7.

And so we may well achieve great short term success, this season hopefully, but what of when he leaves? And he will leave. Will we be like Arsenal without Henry? Will other players pick up the slack? Will we start sharing goals around more? Can we be as good?

This all leads to a potentially worst case scenario: he stays another 1/2 years and we continue to build up the reliance on his skill, then he leaves and we’re left floundering. There’s no doubt that the squad is good enough to compete for the prem without him, but woudl they have the creativity and belief? Because in 1/2 years time we’re going to have to still be challenging for all honours without Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Van der Sar and Ronaldo. And maybe without Fergie. Now there’s a depressing thought.

    Real shitting as usual.

Let’s win a treble this year and make AS quiet(For a few months at least;)

You know what, this Ronaldo speculation has been bothering me for quite sometime now. I think we just need to get over it and enjoy his football while he is still our player. We can trust the fact that Sir Alex will show enough tenacity to hold on to Ronaldo for atleast another couple of seasons. If you remember, after the Euro-fracas Ronaldo had all but made his move to the continent, but Sir Alex along with Carlos Queiroz motivated/persuaded/forced him to stay at Old Trafford. The good thing for us is that now, there is a sizeable proportion of portugues contingent at our club as opposed to when Ronaldo had first arrived, and ofcourse we have Carlos Quieroz, the best no. 2 that Sir Alex has had with due respect to what Steve McClaren did for our club.

The stories will make rounds till the 31st of Jan, they have papers to sell, bloody seagulls. Sit back, relax, we still have that boy Ronaldo!

    Well said.
While it looks almost like destiny that Ronaldo will leave in the future,
(Since his ambitions are as big as his talents)
It shouldn’t stop us from enjoying his skills on the pitch.

I just hope we win a treble each year so it will be hard for him to leave:)

As for Rafa, yes I do want him to stay.
    He gives me such relief.
Not only Rafa, I hope Kuyt, Voronin also stay forever with the liverscousers.

Danny Wellbeck is an exciting prospect.

He is in the same mould as a young Kanu isn’t he…

For a 17 year old to come away with the first team is a fantastic boost for the kid.

I might be getting carried away with myself but Manucho could be a huge hit next season.

How much power does Manucho generate from that head of his? bloody hell…

Looks like it’s going to be Chelsea vs. Spurs in Carling Cup Final. I’ll be rooting for Tottenham on that one! Sad to see Everton didn’t make it.. maybe if they’d had some of their African talent. But on the other hand Chelsea was also missing quite a few important Africans. But now Everton can focus more on keeping Liverpool out of the top 4.

It is a conspiracy, I am sure the only place in Britain where they must have conducted this poll is liverpool. Where is Patrick Vieira?? What about Martin Keown? I think they have been a bit harsh with Fletcher, surely ain’t ugly enough to be in the top 20. And if there were to be a poll for the ugliest manager in the world, Avram Grant would win it, hands down! :D

  29. ttotade says: Reply to this comment

Hit them while they are down, I just love you Fergie! :D Sir Alex Ferguson last night accused under-fire Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks of having no class over their shoddy treatment of Anfield boss Rafa Benitez.

Gillett and Hicks caused outrage among Liverpool fans when it emerged they had gone behind Benitez’s back and sounded out Jurgen Klinsmann about taking over from the Spaniard.

Manchester United boss Fergie leapt to the defence of the Spaniard and warned Liverpool’s American owners they risk tearing the club apart if they continue to undermine their manager.

“That was a bad piece of business on Liverpool’s part, there’s no doubt about that,” said Fergie.

How stupid all these people are? Since when Real Madrid is an ‘organisation’? There is no connection between Real Madrid and any of the derivatives of the word ‘organise’. The only reason Ronaldo “must play for Madrid” is to work under a new manager every few months.

  33. Liam O'Kelly says: Reply to this comment

Ever since the Henry saga ended the Spanish media need a new target for rumours to take up column space every few days and they have switched their target to Ronaldo and it’s very annoying but let’s all just live with it. Ronaldo is tied down until 2012 and it would take an insane amount of money to take him off our hands before then. And who knows, if Queiroz replaces SAF then he might stay longer.

    When are Angola playing again?

  34. fred the red says: Reply to this comment

look guys, relax about the Ronaldo speculation, its not about to to go away. Certain people in Madrid are determined to unsettle the player and I must admit that I am stunned at the lengths that they are prepared to go to to make this happen.
My heart tells me that He will stay, but my head tells me that eventually he will go, probably in 2 or 3 years time when United will recieve a fee somewhere between 70 and 90 million. I hope it never happens, but if it does remember this, many a player has left United that was supposed to have crippled the team, Robson, Ince,Cantona, Beckham, Ruud, Keane, all have come and gone but United remain. No player however good He is, is bigger than the club so just relax and enjoy him while He is here. Only last year people were telling me when Scholesy retired we would be finsihed, has Scholesy played this season? and how have we done without him?.
A bigger concern would be how much longer will SAF be there.

Has anyone watched Manucho, I was hoping for an article analysing his performance trying to figure out whether he could ever be more than a back-up player for Man U. I heard he scored a decent goal..

as far as the ronaldo to real madrid rumors are concerned, i suggest people to ignore them…….. ronaldo sees his immediate future in Manchester and we all know that he wants to move to spain at some point in his career……. lets leave it at that

Was reading the Tribal Football comments… Was wondering why do Madrid fans try again and again to tell people that they are the greatest club in the world… They have some sort of a superiority complex.. poor pricks… Highly delusional brains… Im of the class who believes that you don’t force your stupid choice on other people especially by downgrading their club… If i meet a Madrid fan (or any other) who calls Utd a feeder club or something, beyond a point i would punch a hole in his mouth… Hate those Madrid A*ses…

  38. Red Ranter says: Reply to this comment

First of all, everyone — as a rule — never trust tribal football. They make their living out of copy pasting tabloid gossip from around the world. Having sensational headlines is a way to attract people to their sites in the hope of making money with the traffic and ads.

And if you can’t resist the urge to visit it. At least avoid discussing stuff posted on their site. This is precisely what they want. The site is run out of Australia for your information.

It’s also a reason why I hardly ever link to TF. Even if I did it would have been with sufficient warning. 90% of what they post is BS. And if that is the reliability level of a site, I wouldn’t want to visit it that often.

Let the Ronaldo to Madrid rumours rest for now. We’ll bring it up again if sources like the BBC etc come up with quotes.

i watched the angola vs south africa game last night and i’m really excited about Manucho linking up with the first team. He’s strong, pacy and skillful enough to hold the ball and play one twos with his strike partner Flavio (i think). His diving header was absolutely first class. He dove for the ball at full stretch and looped the ball over the keeper. absolute class. And he’s also a hard worker and willing to run back to defend. he was pulling his own weight in the defensive duties and in the 2nd half even charge all the way back to make a goal line clearance!! A great addition to our attack as it will give us another different dimension in our attack. I wish he was more involved in the game though. cant help it since S.Africa was having so much of the possesion. =/

Ronaldo’s mum is a Real Madrid fan. Which has no bearing on Ronaldo. I hope this helps.

  41. karl says: Reply to this comment

Pity Benni McCarthy wasn’t there. Would have loved to see him play as well. Perhaps that match would have convinced SAF to get him (he obviously had to watch the match to see what Manucho was doing).

  42. MCRx3 says: Reply to this comment

Ronaldo needs to come out and say he is staying at Old Trafford without leaving an open ended comment about how one day he dreams of playing in Spain.

One day he may move on but he doesn’t have to continuously be stuck up Real Madrids butt in the hope of a future move!

No doubt he will go on the cheap too. I mean Beckham went for £25 million. Real Madrid made that up in the first year on shirt sales alone. He should have been sold for £50 million atleast!

Then there was Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He was a good striker but what that made United very one dimensional. We play better football now. He should have been sold for £30 million!

Now they are constantly talking about Ronaldo. Putting stories out in the press. Now saying they are fed up of chasing him. Is this reverse psycology to get him to think it’s now or never for a move?!

Manchester United is not Real Madrids feeder club. We need to make that clear in the press and the media.

  43. Hamzah says: Reply to this comment

People who keep on about Madrid pinching our players seem to forget that both Beckham and Ruud never wanted to go to Real Madrid!!!! we sold them because Fergie didn’t want them, they were both desperate to say as for Heinze, he actually wanted to move to Liverpool rather than Madrid, for all 3 players, Madrid was not their 1st choice, Ruud and Beckham were forced out and Heinze wanted the scousers, maybe you should try telling that to any deluded Madrid fan who thinks we are their feeder club!
