Join 08/09 Red Rants Fantasy Football. Win Prizes!

There have been requests for a fantasy football league to be setup in the comments, so I thought I’d do it. I just wasn’t sure if it would keep up the attention span of people for an entire season, but hey, if there are prizes to be won, then I guess that is enough motivation.

Anyway, here is how you join:

1. Visit fantasy.premierleague.com and sign in (if you’ve never registered at the site before, click here to register). Depending on your account history, you might need to add your team and pick your team colors before moving to the next step.

2. After logging in click the ‘Leagues’ link in the left navigation panel, enter the Red Rants league code: 303689-66861 in the ‘Join a League’ text box and click the ‘Join League’ button.

The Prize:

There is only one prize which is USD $200. Ok, it’s not enough to pay for your summer vacation but it’s still handy money to buy some cool electronic gadget.

And if you want more money, then you can also join the Soccerlens fantasy league. (You can be part of both leagues.)

To get a completely free £25 bet from Betfair on all Manchester United games, click here.

Never understood this fantasy football lark myself. Some of my mates – i swear – will cheer if Gerrard scores for liverpool…because they’ve “got him in my fantasy football team”.

    It’s a discrace i tell you!!

It’s ten times worse than cheering on Gerrard, or Terry, or whoever in an england shirt (which i can’t bring myself to do anyway.

Anyhow – as you were gents.

    I entered aswell.

Question. I have, Vidic, Anderson, Tevez, Berbatov in my team. What will happen if we eventually buy Berbatov? I will have to drop one of my MU players as we are only allowed 3 from each team??

@zzxxrrss: Only when you attempt to make a transfer. But if you have them in your team and Berba moves to United you will be able to play with all 4 players until you attempt to make a transfer when you will have to remove one of the United players or you wont be able to make the transfer.

off topic i know but in an interview fergie said this:”If you take the squad I had in Moscow for the Champions League final, I had 23 players and those 23 players will still be there.” one question please, was Saha one of those 23 players and does this mean that he will not be leaving?

@ Mike I hope he leaves, but probably depends on if we bring another striker in.

a bit off topic, but it turns out I was right about fergies interview in the Sun coming from that Norwegian fan site, the site have owned up to it and said that fergie never actually mentioned berbatov, its all just a misunderstanding.

I’d like to see whats in Levy’s dossier now

I only play a complicated version of Fantasy Baseball where you actually build a team and play your league opponents. The stats are based on the real life stats that are compiled that week in real baseball. So you are actually in a league where there match ups, lineup and coaching decisions and real games with box scores and not just counting goals and assists and totaling everything at the end like most fantasy leagues. I’ll stick to that for now. Also, the thought of having a Chelsea (except Balalck), Arsenal, or Scouser on my team just sickens me. I don’t feel that loyal or defensive when it comes to any other sport on the planet. There is only one fantasy football team for me, and they are Manchester United. Who needs anything more.

    Team is:
    ——–Foster—-
    –Brown-Rio-Evans-Silly-
    —-Gibson—Carrick–
    -Eagles——–Martin–
    ———Tevez——-
    ——–Campbell–

Our possession has been so much better, passing crisp and decently taken goal. Look a lot stronger than on Saturday.

Ah Jeez. In a moment of weakness I decided to join up too. Who knows, it may be fun. One thing for sure, no matter his value Ronaldo is not on my team. Even winning a fantasy league isn’t reason enough for me to add him to my team.

@Grognard: in fantasy football you have to let go of at least some loyalty. That said I’ve never picked any L’pool players (or Chelsea) but Fabregas is a must pick IMO. I’ve a lot more respect for Arsenal than our other rivals though.

@Liam: You don’t have to tell me that because I have been paying $150.00 every year playing my baseball one for 20 years. Is there a worse feeling than watching one of the player you own break a personal slump and belt a couple home runs against your favorite team and your favorite pitcher, who also happens to be on your fantasy team? It’s Hell. This is why I debated whether I wanted to do this. Still, I’m not taking it too seriously because it didn’t cost me any money. At least I have a team with Ballack on it that wears red, black and white. For me no Liverpool scum, only Ballack from Chelsea and Bentner from Arsenal as my 3rd forward. I think my sleeper pick pick will be Sidwell as I expect him to be big for Villa.
