Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he wants to bring another player to Manchester United before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday night.
We’ve already brought in three new players this summer with Romelu Lukaku joining from Everton, signing Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and bringing Victor Lindelof in from Benfica. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been re-signed.
Lukaku has made an instant impact with three goals in his first three Premier League games for us, whilst Nemanja Matic has been a rock in the centre of our midfield. Victor Lindelof has yet to make his debut whilst Ibrahimovic is not due back from injury until the New Year.
Manchester Evening News have quoted Mourinho as saying that he won’t be putting on any pressure on the board. He said:
“Everyone knows I would like a fourth player and I cannot hide that because I had that in my mind. But I am happy if I am not going to have that and I don’t think I am going to have that.
“I was the first to tell my board not to feel any kind of pressure from me in that respect.
“Probably next summer, I will have to try and get a player from a position I think can make us stronger.”
There’s little speculation over to what position Mourinho is thinking about upgrading. Phil Jones has made a solid start at centre-back to start the new season and Lindelof has yet to be tested in this position. We’ve been linked with a number of right-backs whilst the boss has never seemed settled on a left-back.
