Jose gives update on Alexis Sanchez transfer

Alexis Sanchez has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United all month.

Earlier this evening we confirmed that Manchester City have pulled out of a move for the Arsenal contract rebel.

Sanchez is in the final six months of his current deal at the Emirates and with no signs that he is going to end that current deal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger conceded that the player is set to leave the club and did not include the 29-year-old in his matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Bournemouth.

Following today’s developments, Manchester United are 1/8 favourites to sign Sanchez this month with bookmaker Sky Bet:

Speaking to Sky Sports after this evening’s 3-0 thrashing of Stoke City in the Premier League, Jose Mourinho had this to say about the Alexis Sanchez transfer rumours:

“I have no idea. I have completely no idea. Today I was completely separate on that, concentrating on tonight’s match.

“I am not going to speak about hypothetical situations. He is an Arsenal player and can be Arsenal player.

“Probably there are other clubs interested.  I feel I shouldn’t speak about a player who is our player.”

To add further fuel to the fire regarding the transfer speculation, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was left out of this evening’s matchday squad with Mourinho saying that the player has been distracted by transfer rumours.

The Armenian has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal as part of an exchange deal for Alexis Sanchez.
