Jose Mourinho ‘likes’ World Cup player, club willing to ‘listen to offers’

Jose Mourinho is out in Russia for the 2018 World Cup as he does some scouting of his own ahead of trying to bring more players to Manchester United ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

So far we have landed full-back Diogo Dalot and central midfielder Fred, but more players are expected to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

Although Dalot was a right-back for the FC Porto B team last season he made six appearances at left-back for the senior team in place of the injured Alex Telles this past season.  It is possible that the Portuguese Under-21 replaces Ashley Young in that role next season.

Antonio Valencia turns 33 over the summer so the boss is also expected to be on the look-out for the Ecuadorian’s long-term replacement.

Whilst working as a pundit for Russia Today over the weekend, Jose was watching Croatia’s 2-0 victory over Nigeria in which the boss made a comment on Atletico Madrid right-back Sime Vrsaljko.

The right-back played the full 90 minutes in his side’s 2-0 win which led to Jose Mourinho saying that he “likes” Vrsaljko.

What’s more, Spanish outlet AS report that Atletico Madrid “will listen to offers” for the 26-year-old.

Sime Vrsaljko was part of the strong Atletico Madrid defence under Diego Simeone this past season, also registering four assists in his 21 La Liga appearances for the Europa League winners.

Whether there is any serious interest in the 26-year-old remains to be seen but he is certainly an option to Jose Mourinho if he wants to bring in Antonio Valencia’s long-term replacement this summer.
