Lewandowski – “has made his decision”
The Poland international has long been linked with a move away from the German champions, with Manchester United among the favourites to land him.
Now his representative, Cezary Kucharski, has claimed that the 24-year-old already knows where he is going, hinting that he will leave Dortmund this summer.
“Robert has made his decision. Only he decides when he will make his decision public, though,” Kucharski told Polish TV.
“Those who have followed Robert’s career will realise that he’s never stayed at a club for longer than two seasons.
“He’s already in his third season at Dortmund. Read between the lines and you’ll know what this means.”
Lewandowski’s current deal has just over 12 months to run.

Hopefully we can get a nice disussion going on here, without another thread coming up.
I hope we can inject some life back into this blog because it truly is one of the best manchester united blogs out there. There are some really intelligent arguments and perspectives made on here that often give me food for though and its great to come on here and vent when things dont go the Mnachester united way, it really is a relief.
There seems to be passionate Man Utd fans on here who show the maturity to argue their points without getting too disrespectful when others disagree with them. Sometimes people even agree to disagree.
Inavriably we can all agree one thing,WE ALL LOVE MANCHESTER UNITED
Oh and we hate Man Shitty and Liverpool
Well done lads

Moving on….
Lewandowski. First things first, Robert Lewandowski is a top player, very similar to Ruud Van Nistelrooy in my opinion, also very similar to one Javier Hernandez. His instincts are top notch and he just knows how to score. I will say this though, his all round game is far better than Chichrito, considering they are the same age. However, if we do not intend to start him, i say hes a luxury we just dont need because as much as Chicharito is scoring goals, he begrudgingly accepts his role as a bench player/backup striker in Man Utd. A player coming in and sulking for being on the bench can destory squad morale. All this i based on manchester united adopting the same formation next season. You never know, swap rooney around and we might for him in as well. i reiterate, a luxury we just dont need. However with both Falcao and Cavani likely to join Chelsea and Shiity for ridiculously amounts of money, Lewandowski might be a bargain.
For the record i rate Edison Cavani as the best of the three players. He is phenominal
The Midfield conondrum: We have one of the best deep lying playmakers/interceptors in the world in Micheal Carrick. Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, John Obi Mikel, Andrea Pirlo, Mikel Arteta, Yaya Toure are probably the only other natural ones in world football. They really are a rarity these days. Now he is 31 and hes finally come of age- credit to him. I do expect more from him though and i am slighly nervous when he receives the ball in front of the back four because hes not the strongest, he is not the most skillful and he is not the most composed. A phenominal passer i must admit, i often feel he is a passenger and has had the potential to do so much more. Its almost as if , when the going gets tough, Carrick gets going. Remeber the thrashing of Roma 7-1, thats the Carrick i expect to see more often. With his potential, can anyone blame me? ont he flip side, remember Carrick being substituted against Man city in the Charity Shield last season, Cleverly came on and along with Anderson changed the game completely. That was no fluke, we had conceded two goals in the first half, the midfield was being over run by the flair and dynamism of Man City, crucially Carrick was largely immobile. Carrick couldnt get into the team for the next 4-5 weeks. we beat spurs, we thrashed Arsenal, beat Chelsea, thrashed bolton. We were free flowing, confident, youthful, box to box, wellbeck was scoring, rooney had consecutive hat tricks, nani was scoring, ashley young was scoring nevertheless though we were also naive… I would advocate for a strong and consistent back four and a midfield duo of Anderson and Cleverly, bringing on carrick during the latter stages of the game to sure things up and when Anderson inevitably tires. Thats how Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas, Scholes got as good as they are today, they were backed by the manager and were played week in week out, protected when they made mistakes, praised when they had a good game. They were gaining experience…
Which brings me to my next point Gareth Bale and Danny Wellbeck, we have all seen the development of Bale over the last couple of years PLAYING WEEK IN , WEEK OUT for spurs anyone who cannot see shades of both Becks and Ronaldo in this Lad need to go to specsavers. On current form( and thats what football is- CURRENT FORM, not past or potential exploits). He is playing out of his skin and is easily the best winger in the world and he hasnt even peaked..23 years of age, 9 goals in his last 10 games… Speed, delivery, freekicks, heading long range shots, drive, strength. Whats not to love…. imagine him in SHitty or Chelsea….PLease fergie buy him at all costs.. if you had seen him last night, no one would argue. he is a world beater. i predict 45-50 mill. a bit excessive to say the least but with going rate for Ronaldo and Messi in excess of 100 million, 45 mill for seems an expensive but still a good deal. With Bale in Man Utd, we would be unstoppable, he would achieve all of his ambitions, we would compete with the best and best part he wouldnt want to go to Madrid or Barcelona. Right now he is angling for a move to Madrid but thats only because Man Utd havent comne in for him and it would be disrespectful to Tottenham to offer himself to a rival in the same league. Break the bank for BALE. Now COntrast him with Danny Wellbeck, bags of potential but the Kid doesnt seem to be getting better and that is because he is not seeing any action in his preferred role. How on earth is he supposed to get better? I would rather sign him on a 5 year contract and loan him out for two seasons to a club that would play him every week. He comes back as soon as RVP is decling and starts as out top striker. i would be royally pissed if we waste his talent. Players only get better if they are playing.
Thanks for listening lads, opinions please

@One United: Agree on Bale part. The perfect Giggsy replacement (something we have struggled with so far). Cut losses on Young, Nani can stay or go as he pleases (Vally and Zaha can fight for that other wing). I’m sure its end of Mr Anderson here as well as a 40 year old giggs is being preferred to him in central midfield. So a CM is also needed (Strootman gets linked but I so want Christian Erikson from Ajax).
So my wish list for next season: Bale, Erikson & Baines
Out go: Young, Nani, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Chicarito (Nani and Chicarito for their own good. They are too good to sit on the bench for their ages)
That makes total outlay of around 50m. Does Fergie has that kind of budget?

@jos: Gareth Bale? Yes.
Leighton Baines? Yes. definately. Buttner is still a bit raw.
Christian Erikson? I don’t know much about him. Please tell me why him?
And what are your thoughts on Victor Wanyama at Celtic?
I totally here on the note about Nani and Chicha needing to play week in and week out. But I don’t wanna lose them.
Imagine how good Chicha could get if he played in every game!
Nani also needs to just be given game time. He must not be dropped every time he has a bad game. Rooney doesn’t get dropped everytime he has a bad game.
Even if we just got Bale and Baines I would be over the moon. We would be an all conquering force again.

@The_Philosopher: Erikson is a midfield man. A very cultured player (theres something of a scholes in him), he is the reason Man City are out of Europe this year. he can run games for us while carrick sits back. wanayama i wont mind but i think he is not fergie type of a player. the top sides in europe (read real, barca, milan, bayern) do not play with any midfield enforcers!
Chicha is not going to get the main role at united till RVP is there. He is not as good a player as rvp. but he is good enough to start for 99% of sides on earth.
nani has lost fergie’s confidence in him. i think the contract talks have gone over his head. he must be looking at the likes of nasri who make 180k a week while he is only offered 90k here. he should be able to resurrect his career elsewhere. why stagnate with us?

@One United: I am actually torn over the striker situation. I like Danny Welbeck but the fact that he isn’t as clinical or as ruthless a finisher as RVP, Rooney or Chicharito sticks in my craw.
It just feels like there’s a gap in our strike force. If we’re going to have four strikers lets have 4 good strikers and not 3 good ones and one so-so striker.
Thats why I would advocate the purchasing of Ledwandowski. We need someone to cover for RVP and Rooney when they’re off form or injured. Chicha is perfect as a goal poacher coming on in the 70th odd minute.
That would be an amazing strike unit.
But then there’s the argument that Welbeck can play different positions when we need him to, like the left wing for example. I say rubbish! If we just bought a proper left winger (like Gareth Bale) there would be no need for Welbecks “versatility.”
If we had a proper left winger would Welbeck get games?
Well said on the Welbeck issue. The kid was showing grreat signs of improvement last season when he and Rooney were playing up front on the regular. RVP came in and unfortunately de-railed his progress. He has lots of potential but only if he’s deployed in his favoured position. I totally agree with you, he needs to go out on loan.
If Ferguson can’t give him games then someone else must.
I love your idea about the midfield. Anderson should always start with Cleverley. And then as Anderson tires in the second half we introduce Carrick. Those three need to play that kind of rotating game almost like Vidic, Ferdinand and Evans are doing right now.
I remember that run that Anderson and Cleverley had before injury sidelined him for an extended period. I think it was Kevin Davies that took him out.
With Gareth Bale I think its more of a loyalty to Totenham type thing. He wouldn’t want to play against the club that took him in as a young left back and turned him into the next best football player on the planet. He is happy to go to Spain because that would mean that he can play for a big name team without having to betray Totenham.
Its like Lampard coming to us from Chelsea. Although he started out at West Ham. Chelsea has been his home about 9 years now. Its a very difficult thing to do. Imagine Ronald coming back to England only to play for Chelsea or City. Its a betrayal.
I would love to break the bank for Bale, however. I would even participate in a fans fund where all us United fans the world over just contribute a couple pounds to the purchase of Gareth Bale. There are millions of United fans across the globe who would join in for such a cuase. But what kind of a precedent would that set?

Didn’t Fergie try to get Bale for like 3M when he was a left fullback at, was it Southampton, and Bale, whose hero is Ryan Giggs still turned him down?
Now, Spurs gets to sell him for many times what they bought him. Berba, Modric, now Bale: Levy must love this game! Why can’t we do similar with say… Anderson for example?
Perhaps that’s what we did with Pogba but kept on the bench too long. Powell may prove to be 20-30M player in a few years though.

Why would we need another striker? It must be nonsense unless one is leaving. Hate players that do this too, who do they think they are? It will be Bayern
anyway!

I will repeat my thoughts.
1. Sell Valencia.
2. Buy an explosive, strong, box to box midfielder, buy a new Essien, a fucking great defender and not impressive but accurate passer.
3. Let Giggs , Scholes retire as 2013 champions. They need it!
4. Sell Vidic or let Ferdinand go
. Jones and Smalling are too good to be true. They are great defenders and Evans is maturing as a quality choice.
(5. Evra is good. But for how long can he play week in week out? Buttner is shit. Buy a quality upcoming left back and let Evra rotate)
6. Change into a narrow 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. We do have technical diamonds in central midfield. We do have the No. 10s tha play as wingers or strikers. Young, Nani, Kagawa, Rooney, RvP
Where do Chicharito or Danny fit in? I don’ know. So, yes, feel free to sell Chicha for 30m and loan out Danny.
Zaha will be the 6th for the three positions upfront.
7. Cleverley, ando, Carrick, the new Essien ….plus two more players. Powell and Fletcher are in the squad. Sell one of them and bring one from the rserves. Pogba is gone. Plenty pogbas are waiting.
We already don’t use the wings. So, sell the typical winger in the name of Valencia. We need a massive box to box midfielder and the squad is full of talent.
