Lindegaard joins WBA

CNwVt0mUsAAKUFiAnders Lindegaard has joined West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer, bringing a five-year spell at Old Trafford to an end.

The Danish, who joined from Aalesund in 2010, had long been made surplus to requirements after struggling to secure a starting spot under Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal and his exit did not come as a surprise.

With Sergio Romero, Victor Valdes and Sam Johnstone still at the club, the 31-year-old knew had very little chance to even force his way into the matchday squad and will be reunited with former Darren Fletcher and Jonny Evans at the Hawthorns.

“I had a good chat with Tony Pulis – I must call him the ‘gaffer’ now – and he convinced me it would be a good move for me and the club,” he told West Brom’s official website.

“From there things moved very quickly.

“I was very keen to get it done so I can just concentrate on the thing that matters most, the football. I am very happy to join and hope I can make a big contribution this season.

Meanwhile, David De Gea is expected to completed his move to Real Madrid later today.
