Looking Back and Looking Ahead…

Tag: Manchester United News @ 8:50 am

The season kicks off on Monday for us, but let’s use this as an overall preview of the rest of the season as such.

Public perception has been that this summer is quiet on the transfer front. In reality it’s not been quite at all. If you add up signings made during last season and during this summer we’ll realize that the club has in fact spent about £25m on players. True they’ve been spent with the future in mind, but they are signings nonetheless, and what we cannot ignore is that hard cash has been put into players. This is not something that we can write off as pure PR, because money has been spent.

This is not to extricate the Glazers from blame; far from it. We would have spent much more in the presence of a different ownership model—maybe even not had to spend because we’d already have had a better squad, but let’s not fantasize now.

But the question worth asking is: has the money been judiciously spent on signings? To answer that we’d need to go off our hunches, and other suppositions. (“Hernandez already looks a world beater!” “Smalling is a bit raw.” “Bebe? Who? £7.4m? Wha—?”)

Take the case of Bebe. My initial reaction was one of confusion. It’s partly owed to the statement from the official website which had him down as a striker. It’s a bit like Arsenal buying another midget who player behind the striker when what they needed was someone who was more lethal and in the box. But subsequent reports and *sigh* YouTube clips of him showed he was more an attacking midfielder who played either on the wing or behind the striker. Much better, then. Or is it? Well, it’s not really the price that bothered me. But the series of events that led to his signing. He was playing in the Portuguese third division, and signed up by Vitoria Guimares only a couple of months ago. By David Gill and Ferguson’s own admissions they were aware of him only a month ago. Add to that he was a Carlos Queiroz recommendation. His last scouting network find was Manucho, and the one before him Nani and Anderson. But the latter duo were already quite well known in various scouting circles. Manucho and Bebe, less so. Again, Manucho is just one data point, and there’s a significant difference between playing in the Angolan league and being snapped up by a Portuguese top division club. But still, the fact remains that Ferguson moved swiftly to snap up Bebe—paying over the odds in the process—just so others don’t get hold of him is rather odd, considering his recent caution in the transfer market, and his pronouncements about the “lack of value”.

In essence he was splashing over half the value of a star player like Mesut Ozil on an unknown. This is not a criticism of our scouting network, but more about a seeming lack of a plan in the mind of Ferguson. It seems he is as capable of falling to the whims of impulse. Yet he talks about caution and lack of value. They just don’t add up.

I am not calling for us to sign Mesut Ozil. From what I’ve read, and heard from media sources, there has been a solid interest from the club, but the complications arise from the indecision by Ozil himself, Bremen’s quandary over playing him in the upcoming Champions League qualifier (and hence, losing value) or selling their star player at the risk of possible exit from the Champions League qualification stage (and losing millions thereby). Also, there are a host of agents, and assorted hangers-on from his entourage trying to act on behalf of him, often without his or his agent’s knowledge.

I’ve said this earlier: I’d like Ozil to come, but if not, I’d much rather see Cleverley get an extended run. I’d like a more assertive midfielder who has the legs to move forward and help in our attack. Carrick is more composed and less dynamic. Scholes prefers a deep-lying role at his age. And Fletcher is better at mopping up and protecting the defence. If we ever needed to sign a ‘finished product’ I’d want someone in that role. If not, then we move on and look forward to the new season.

Ferguson once again decided to have a pop at the fans. To be honest, this sort of news doesn’t shock me anymore. I cringe when I hear it, or read reports and quotes from Ferguson, but it’s evident that he’s bent upon sucking up to the Glazers and showing contempt for the fans. And from here on, I’ve decided to compartmentalize—block the outrageous nonsense he spouts about fans, and focus on the season and his performance during the matches as and when it happens. It’s not about ignoring the ‘pressing issues’ regarding his attitude towards fans, but every time he opens his mouth about supporters, he isn’t going to be unpredictable. Everything I’ve had to say on him about that has been said. Little value in adding to noise, and redundancies. But every football match is new, every performance—win, loss, draw—is a new experience despite the years, and that is always worth discourse. So talking more about the actual football and less about off-pitch is what I’d like to do more of from now on. (Talking about the actual football—what a novel idea eh?)

Moving on, I have a lot to be optimistic about this bunch, despite my misgivings about the future. The starting XI is as good as any. Rio’s fitness is a worry, but the rise of Evans is important. This is a big season for our right-back Rafael. Neville is a club legend, but I would honestly like him to sit back and mentor Rafael more. Not since Ronaldo have I been as excited about a new signing, as I have with Hernandez. His eye for goal is something and ability to play on the shoulder of the last defender is something we’ve entirely lacked since the departure of Ruud and, to a lesser extent, Louis Saha. Rooney and Tevez always gave effort, often at the cost of not playing like a classic striker. Rooney has steadily improved every season in his goal scoring tally, but there’s something about Hernandez that will hopefully strike fear in opposition defences. He’s also exactly the sort of striker Berbatov would love.

I have my reservations on the midfield, partly because I don’t rate Anderson enough, and partly because I felt Carrick went backwards last season. I hope Carrick returns to his usual steady self, because it’s a damn indictment of our midfield if a 35-year old Scholes is the best we have.

Anyway, onwards and upwards we go. Hopefully the shower at Eastlands keep up the dreadful form they showed against Spurs.

The preview to our opening match will be up tomorrow.

Till then.

  • Red Ranter, You’re not going to stifle my reply to your last post to me that easily. So here it is.

Excuse me mate but whatever happened to people who don’t agree or share my opinions just ignoring them? When you buy a paper do you read it every article? Of course you don’t. So why censor me and stop my right to pursuing my campaign against the evil that has taken over Old Trafford? I believe in my heart and soul and every fibre of my being that I am right and I have given valid reasons as well as proof for my position despite some on here who continue to ignore the proof I and a few others have offered up in defence of our position.

It is not like you to allow youerself to get intimidated by the bellyaching crybaby act of a few conformist chimps who see no evil hear no evil and speak no evil. This site is not just about analyzing matches and debating about players. It’s about Manchester United proper. And the Glazer corruption and extortion and Fergie’s willing compliance in it is something that shouldn’t be ignored, it must be addressed.

Do you honestly think that thousands of Green & Gold fans out there are with RedRich, Conor, Madschester and all the other conformists? I think not. I know from the correspondence I get from Must every week that I have way more people on my side than these people would like to admit to. Fact is they are scared because they don’t like turmoil and disturbance in their daily patterns. They wake up and expect things to go along swimmingly and avoid all the problems because their stress levels can’t take it. So they like to be positive and optimistic while they hide behind their white picket fences in suburbia where the sensible people live.

I really don’t care so much that they aren’t buying into the whole conspiracy angle I and those who agree with me are offering. Like I said earlier, it’s their prerogative to disagree. But they don’t stop there. No they insist that I stop….PERIOD. Well that’s not fair and that’s not democratic and it goes against every rule you have ever set up for this blog. Like I have said to you and others at infinitum, I only get nasty when threatened or told I must stop doing what I am doing. For you to tell me to stop is like a knife in my back because you above all people I would expect more from regarding this serious and delicate matter of free speech and expression.

I am not cheering against United, I am fighting for them. I am fighting a fight that I admit to be losing on this blog because too many on here are too thick to get the reality of the situation. Instead they suffer from a lethargic and hopeless denial and the only thing that concerns them is if we beat Newcastle. The last time I saw that kind of behaviour it was from a drug addict or an alcoholic. It’s sad and it’s pathetic and when this team is threatened with receivership and financial ruin in a few years, when the loans are due and the Glazer’s have defaulted and skipped town, then what will you and everyone else who doubted me say? I’m Fucking sorry.

Did it ever occur to you and these people that maybe, just maybe I and those who see clearly like me could actually be right? But instead I get accused of being anti-United and or on being on a personal vendetta against the manager for reasons I do not fathom, nor should they. The whole Glazer debate has not run it’s course. I, Craig, TonyMontana. and others have plenty to say about the crap that is going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford but now you are saying a topic that is vital and pertinent to the future of this club is off limits. CHRIST ALL MIGHTY, the Glazer’s are winning. You are letting them win. How many other blogs I wonder are suppressing their ant-Glazer campaigners? This is so wrong on so many levels. Need I say how many evil individuals in history took power and kept it because of suppressive measures that infringed on the rights of individuals to speak their mind against something, even if it was unpopular and in the minority.
It’s shocking to me that i am getting my wrist slapped for doing nothing wrong. Absolutely nothing wrong other than voice my displeasure over the current regime running Manchester United. And for very good reason I think.

My critics never have considered the fact that I was a strong loving supporter of the Boss until I could see he was not playing by the rules and not concerned about the fans. Time after time he has come out in support of the owners while condemning the Red Knights and the Green & Gold campaign. Time after time he has lied to us about the transfer market and other things and as this goes on so does the extortion of the owners and Fergie sits there and says and does nothing against them while the debt grows, and all the profits from the club miraculously disappear. Yes by all means, I am the bad guy. So I will shut up but I won’t shut up without a fight. Instead I’ll tell you and all those guys against me to stick it because all of you are wrong and are acting like a bunch of neocons.

Thank you so much for repressing my freedom to speak against the owners and the manager of this club who are leading us down the garden path to doom. One day you will all see rerality and then I hope you all swim in it. You deserve it. Assholes Shame on you Red Ranter and double shame on those who drove you to this because they are truly sad and pathetic individuals have no sense of soul or respect for freedom of expression. And if there are any in support of my position, now would be the time to speak. I’ll expect silence in a situation like this as I feel like I am being crucified for taking a virtuous cause seriously. Christ you people have hurt and disappointed me this evening.

  • Well I could care less about the game and the season because frankly I have had all the piss and vinegar kicked out of me due to my anti-Glazer/Fergie stance. So I’ll gladly make many of your’s day by fucking off for a brief while until I can let the pain and betrayal subside a bit. It’s so much fun being part of a blog that respects people’s rights to speak their minds.

  • @Grognard: Perhaps it’s time you took a step back and wondered why I didn’t take your side today.

And please, RedRich is not a conformist. If you think he’s a conformist then your argument is a joke. They disagree with you, and a lot of their argument is a bit more nuanced than being bracketed as a conformist. Just like yours.

Also it’s never about right or wrong. In my opinion, I believe that you and TonyMontana are 80-85% right (with the remaining 15-20% a mixture of insinuation/extrapolation.) And I believe OPTI, for example, is further from the truth than you, although there are some aspects of his opinion that I agree with. But my point is it’s just that the Glazer debate positive or negative adds no value to this blog anymore. Period.

Oh and you may continue your campaign, just letting you know that repeating the same thing over and over again adds nothing of value. No offence, even if you are likely to be offended by this. And I’ll say the same to those who talk positive things about the Glazers and Fergie.

Anyway, I am not going to let myself be drawn into explaining myself here.

This blog has been very receptive of your rants, so don’t fool me by telling me my advice was censoring your opinion. That’s ridiculous. And we’ve been through this song and dance before. So let’s cut through that BS already.

  • It’s just funny how one of the most regular contributors of this blog, thinks this blog doesn’t let him express himself.

    I just don’t think I’m that irony-deficient.

  • If someone really believes that there is a new angle in this Glazer debate let me know.

Also, if someone can really tell me what is exactly happening behind the scenes in the boardroom, let me know, with proof. And maybe I’ll accept this debate hasn’t run its course.

If it’s insinuations on what might be happening, then well, I can make stuff up too.

And let me say this: my comment in the last post was not only addressed to the “negative” folk (even if I think negative is an unfair word to use). I actually roll my eyes at those who think every thing is going swimmingly well at the club—and even those kind of people don’t have any new angle to add to this debate.

There is honestly nothing new in this Glazer mess that hasn’t been talked about. Maybe it’s worth revisiting this topic in say a couple of months?

I am not censoring people. I am just doing my duty as a moderator by giving a change of direction by switching it to the season and actual football.

If people want to get offended and take this personally then be my guest.

It goes without saying that: what I do here on the blog is nothing personal.

  • @Grognard: Ah come on Grog – you know you care about the game and the new season. It may not turn out to be all we desire in terms of our team and their performances, but then again we won’t know until we kick off and see how each and every player and game pans out. Fergie has made his stance well known now regarding the unmentionable fan campaign, and we have long made ours, so I can understand if people in general want to change the subject and talk now about something else. I see no reason for you to piss off as you say because fans on here have many other things for us all to debate. It is pointless to me anyway, to make enemies with United fan bloggers because they are tired of the same old same old discussions being repeated all the time. Everyone is FULLY aware of where we stand, and Grog why let it spoil your whole new season enjoyment – plenty of other things United to get pissed about and debate – right! After the hornets nest that arose on the blog because of my mentioning the Glazer’s again and Fergie’s fan comments – well I want to move on for the whole thing myself, because the feeling is so ‘boiling up’ under the surface in the emotions of both camps. .

  • @Grognard: Mate, you’re missing the point. People aren’t asking you to stop voicing your opinion – it’s valued – but repeating your opinion over an over again and calling other people idiots just because they can’t see it your way – something you’ve got the audacity to criticise em for, which a least shows you recognise it’s a problem – only stifles the debate. As to the paper analogy, it’s not like buying a paper and ignoring the ‘showbiz section’, it’s like buying the daily sport for the articulate articles and suddenly realising it’s dominated by crap. You can’t ignore you because you’re here, there and everywhere, so if you want to read this blog you have to read at least some of your comments.

  • Yeah the glazer talk is really the same stuff over and over again everyday…their cunts, their sucking the life out of the club.Fergie is wrong for not only doing nothing, but supporting them too, gill is a cunt too. Were in debt its growing and we the fans should do something about it…thats the summary.Hearing it everyday though is tiring because weve really heard it too many times before. Im glad the season has started because I am looking forward to actual football now.I hated the World Cup.I Cant stand international football and the game between spurs and City yesterday reminded me of why the premier league is the best league in the world. The pace is just great.I expect a good game tomorrow with us giving a good attacking lesson to the magpies.

  • Somehow I have a feeling Rooney is going to be plagued with injuries this season. For him to stay injury free so long last season was quite uncommon. And as we all know if Rooney gets injured it reinforces his tendency towards streakiness. How often have we seen Rooney go on a goal scoring spree, get injured, then come back from injury and go months without scoring?

If my prediction is true we could really struggle UNLESS Hernandez and Berbatov seize on the extra playing opportunities and average a goal every other game. I also think that Michael Owen could have a part to play this season.

  • A reply to Conor from the previous thread.

@Conor: Sorry you feel that way. You may think i am missing the point and perhaps in your way of looking at things I am, but in my world it is you who is missing the point entirely. Do you honestly think I get up every morning thinking that I want to come on here and feud with you and others and to start bellyaching about Fergie and the Glazer’s? HELL NO! It bores the crap out of me too but Fergie and his actions so infuriate me mate, that I cannot help myself. I so loathe the man these days for what he has and hasn’t done that I find it hard to contain myself when he comes out to the media and starts spewing his vile PR BS about the need for the fans to united with him and the team and to stop the anti Glazer stuff. I cannot tell you how that offends me and disturbs me to the core.

I cannot speak about you but I am a member of MUST and i wanted the Red Knights to take over and clean house. I donated a fair amount of my hard earned money to that cause and so the cause means something to me. It’s a noble and honourable crusade against greed, corruption and the rights of us fans to have a say in how this club should be run. So imagine my shock, surprise and disappointment when fans on here turn on me like I am some kind of Judas.

I am being accused of being redundant and not letting something die but this is war. Fergie and the Glazer’s are doing the same thing. They refuse to alter their position but you and others on here are forcing me to do that simply because you don’t share my beliefs or concerns about the club we all passionate about. I have talked at length about how many refuse to come out of their cocoons and see the big picture and what doing nothing now will mean in 4 years time, but it seems to mean nothing to many of you as all you care about is the Newcastle game.

Finally, you are in no position to tell me about RR and my relationship with him. If he wanted to ban me he would have because he has banned many others. The fact is that whether he agrees with me or not, he knows that most of my bad behaviour is provoked. People get into it with me and they start the name calling whereas I finish it. I rarely ever start that name calling but I do admit to having a short fuse and retaliating easily. Trust me, he has slapped my wrist more than once about that and many times I deserved it and accepted it but in this case I respectfully say that he dead wrong in his assertions and you are too. The bottom line mate is I respectfully have the right to offer my opinions on anything to do with Manchester United as long as it is clear I am a fan of the club and not an Arsenal follower. And you have the right to ignore my comments. So I ask you to kindly consider that option in the future. It is not my intention to antagonize you or piss you off. I believe in this crusade and all I am doing is venting my dissatisfaction and displeasure over what is happening behind closed doors at Old Trafford. I am not out of line here and I feel I have earned the right to do so. It matters not to me if it comes across as redundant to you or others because causes often do.

I believe in what I am saying and I know there are others who do so to. So all I ask is that you respect my feelings and rights to articulate my views on the game and on the current situation without getting this moralistic verbal diarrhea shoved at e every time i say something that offends your’s or somebody else’s senses. Sometimes the truth hurts and even if you don’t believe it to be true, it’s my view and my view should be respected if not agreed with. I respect yours, even if I don’t agree with it. And remember, my name calling only occurs when people break my door down first. Look it up and you will find very few instances where i have breached that law. I may have yesterday as my frustration level over everyone’s denial of the facts just reached peak tolerance. What can I say, I’m sorry but I am human. Again, I mean no disrespect to you or anyone on here but I am highly offended by the position you and others have taken against me on this issue. Fine, don’t agree with me but pleas, respect my right to vent my feelings as I would respect your right to do so. Disagree if you must but trying to force me to stop is not an option and not fair. And above all, I would like you and some others to stop making me out to be this horrible monster that has taken over this blog and is holding everyone hostage. That is so far from the truth and incredibly hurtful and awfully personal, don’t you think?

  • @Red Ranter: First off, RedRich has been a conformist. I like the guy greatly and I respect him but he has taken it upon himself lately to lambast me about my crusade against Fergie and for this I have not been receptive or appreciative of his efforts. Frankly, it’s a form of censorship and your slapping of my wrists are too. You and some others may think my views are redundant and repetitive but Fergie continues to do the same repetitive and redundant things so I just play off his weekly actions or inactions. My point is that i disagree with you that it brings nothing to this blog. I disagree with you vehemently. I think the issues I am talking about are the most pressing and ire concerns that face us fans and that face this great club that we are all fans of. To ignore the obvious and just hope it goes away is defeatist and lethargic defeatism which I for one cannot stand or tolerate. It is my right as a fan to speak my mind over the crimes the Glazer’s are committing and continue to commit.

You say that you agree with 85% of what I am writing yet you feel compelled to repress my right to speak about it. Well that just has me flabbergasted. In my neck of the woods that’s not just a passing grade, but that is honours. And as for that 15% you think is speculation, I would add the fact that quite often when I do speculate I warn people that I do, so nothing i say is irresponsible or a blatant lie. This whole blog is nothing but speculation on players, previews, reviews and discussions about games and the transfer market. But my 15% is verboten. Well again, may I say you are wrong.

RR, this is your blog and I respect that. I respect your right to do with it as you please, but please, don’t insult my intelligence with the arguments you have made against my right to offer up my opinions on these topics. It is censorship when you kindly try to persuade somebody to stop writing about something he believes in and is committed to. I for one am hurt by it and let down by you who is not respecting his own rules for this blog. I broke no rules and redundancy is not a forbidden rule on the blog. When Fergie stops pissing me off and betraying all of us, then I will stop going after him. Until then, he will receive my wrath for every questionable thing he does. And as for the Glazer’s, well they should get cancer. I will always haunt those mofos. They are scum and deserve as much negative writing about them that the Internet can handle. My complaint is that not enough of us care or even awake enough to get the big picture and i and a few others are being condemned for being awake. Disappointment is to little a word to describe what I feel right now. I am just truly gutted by your attitude and that of others on here who I respect and who I have never tried to censor or shut up no matter how much i may disagree with them. Arsenal fans have been treated with more respect than I have on this blog.

  • @CraigMc: I hear you mate. Seriously, of course I care about the season but Fergie’s actions and inactions have severely soured my feeling on the whole squad and our prospects. But like i have said many times before, my argument is so much greater than just having a winning season. We could win everything and still, the main focus of my tirades is missed because my biggest concern is what happens to this team in four years time when those loans are called for? That day will make this season or any season seem like a distant memory as we all try to figure out just what happened to the club that ended up like Leeds United. Hopefully buyers will show up with deep enough pockets to force the Glazer’s to sell. Until then, consider me on pins and needles. I will try to lighten up for the ask of many on here, but it isn’t easy when you feel somebody is getting away with murder and making all of us out to be fools. But thanks for your kind thoughts and advice.

  • @Red Ranter: Seriously mate, you want to change the direction of a debate, try adding a new thread more often. When you allow it to drag over 500 hits you allow for certain conversation to get elongated. You may see this as a criticism but it isn’t. It’s a suggestion although, I do know and do respect the fact you are busy and have a life. But you are being awfully quiet and rather inconsistent. You leave a thread to go slow and long for over a week and then you offer three new threads within a few days and not let either of them gather any momentum. Then it’s back to leaving it go for over 700 hits before my actions forced you into a thread change. Trust me, a new thread in most cases would get me off of a subject unless others continued with it.

I know that your comments last night directed towards me were not personal but they were wrong and misguided and to tell me to stop with my redundancy was breaking your own rules.

  • @Grognard: I said this whole debate is boring and stale. When RedRich lambasts you for your crusade on Ferguson, it’s criticism.

If you want to twist it to some form of censorship then that’s your own twisted definition of censorship. RedRich lambasting you hasn’t stopped you from expressing yourself on the Glazers.

But all I have observed in the Glazer argument over the last few weeks is that it’s repetitive both for and against. So I have decided to tell everyone to stop with it. For now.

Out of the 15% that I believe is insinuation, about 2% of that is where you say that you are musing, the rest is when you don’t realize that you are actually insinuating. In your head you truly believe it, and I don’t at all.

But here’s the thing. I don’t care where the argument on the Glazer regime stands for anyone at the moment. I’ve tired of it because it doesn’t offer any new angle. You RedRich, OPTI, Craig, TonyMontana and even I, have not offered anything new to it, so this debate needs to end for now.

If it’s censorship to you, then so be it. I assert my right as the owner of this blog then even if I know to my heart that all I am doing is to bring some freshness of content to the blog.

That’s it. If you are going to have a long reply to this comment, and don’t see my reply to it, it’s not personal, but in the interest of this thread also hijacked by talk of why not to continue with this Glazer debate.

  • @Grognard: I will ignore that comment (and all other comments you might have on this issue) in the interest of making this blog more interesting.
“Get over it and move on” , is my advice.

  • @Owen: And i’m being redundant they say. Sorry for the dig there mate. I was just making a point to some on here who say I tend to be repetitive. Well you are too in regards to your love for Scholesy. Something I do not share but I certainly respect and condone you going on and on about him. He may not be my cup of tea but he has been a model professional and a great role model for kids on how to approach the game and be humble. I would just add that no kids should ever try to copy his method of tackling. ;-)

  • @Grognard: Yes, it’s my fault that I’m not being more frequent than usual at creating new threads, I’ll admit to that. And I’ll say it now that I will update this blog every day or every other day, and if I am not able to keep up with this for the next three or four months on a consistent basis, I will hand this blog over to some one else more capable and ride off into the sunset.

And you heard it from me here. I’m dead serious about this.

  • Is their a possibility that Ryan Giggs could succeed SAF? He says he wants to do the job – anyone think that he could??
What a fairy-tale scenario that would be!!

  • @Taehr: Well all I can say mate is that I am doing something about it. I have put my money where my mouth is and i voice my displeasure over the only medium I know that I can do so on, the internet. But that is frowned upon here. So please tell me, other than donating money to the cause which I have done so, refusing to buy licensed items what else is a foreign fans supposed to do? I see this forum as my only course in getting the word out there. :???:

  • @Redrich: Is there a possibility that Roy Keane could succeed SAF?
What a fairy-tale scenario that would be!!

  • @Redrich: Fairy tale scenario, indeed. But I wouldn’t take him right away. I’d want him to earn it by making it elsewhere.

Mourinho is dead-on to replace SAF, and most likely Jose will leave in two-three years as is his wont, and perhaps then, if Giggsy shows something of solid achievement elsewhere, he might be suited to take over. But till then I’d hold off on the emotional choice. :)

  • @Red Ranter: It’s not a debate. It’s a comment. It’s a position I’ve taken of getting the word out that Fergie’s weekly bullshit sessions are not fooling me or many others and that his attempt to gag us all into submission isn’t working. OR IS IT? tHINK A SECOND WHAT YOU ARE ASKING OF ME, Madschester and a few others? It’s woefully unfair. Why? Because if you don’t like what we write, then pass over our posts and ignore them. Why is that so hard to do. Those who are interested should have the right to read what i have to say. OF course it’s censorship when you forbid me to write about it for whatever reason. You above everyone should know this.

  • @Redrich: Ignore what mate, a little heartfelt and honest criticism about your views towards me? They are the truth and you know it. You have accused me of so many things on here but the one that just sticks in my craw id the idea that I am on some kind of personal vendetta against Fergie. That so isn’t true. But yes i am truly and honestly pissed off and disappointed in the Gaffer and i say so. Untile he comes clean and starts telling the truth i will continue to feel that way and for good reason. Tho ther thing that has bothered me is that you state that my views are unfounded and illogical and yet i have offered proof and quotes galore on here that make everyone including Red Ranter believe in what i am say to at least 85%. That has to count for something, but to you, you just refuse to hear it and try very hard to repress my feelings and views on this subject.

You know I like and respect you mate and I am not tryying to suck up to you when I say this. But please, I beg you, try to see things a little bit more from my point of view and stop accusing me of crimes and violations which are nothing more than the speculation and accusations you accuse me of being guilty of.

I will drop this line of conversation and move on to other things, up until Fergie pisses e off again. How long do you think that will take?

  • @Grognard: Yes, mentioning what Fergie says is one thing. And rattling off ten posts about it is repetition and that’s not meant as a criticism, but as an observation and the crux of the issue at hand right now.

And yes, this is unfair. You bet it is unfair. And sometimes I reserve my right to make unpopular decisions. The clause that the moderator is always right can be invoked. So yes, I am fully aware that I am making an unfair decision.

I’m asking us to revisit this debate in a months (or so) time. Not banning any discussion for ever.

  • @Owen: If Rooney is injured, this would be the perfect opportunity to give Hernandez his chance.
I’ve think that giving him a lot of game-time, right at the beginning, will help him adjust to the new league, which in turn, will make him more valuable when we really need going down the stretch. Fact is, it also gives us all a chance to see if he lives up to his promise.

  • @Redrich: I’d love to see Hernandez start. But I have a feeling Ferguson will go with Owen and Berbatov.

Like? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • @Grognard: You believe that Ferguson’s loyalty to the ownership is heinous and a point of extreme contention – I, however, do not.

    End of.

Please stop this insane vendetta, which is apparently warping your reality on how other commentators feel.

  • @Redrich: Chicharito will replace Berba after 60 mins if everything goes according to the plans.
I think Fergie will field this team :

    VDS
    Oshea Vida Evans Fabio
    Valencia Scholes Carrick Park
    Owen Berbatov

    After 60 mins :
    Chicharito for Berba
    Macheda for Owen
    Gibson for Carrick

  • @Red Ranter: Well we’ve seen that combo before, and frankly, it doesn’t work.
You might be right though, considering they have seniority over him.

Like? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • @Owen: I think he’ll sub Owen off for Hernandez because that combo has worked for us.

Like? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • @Redrich: Yeah. I believe Fergie will pick Owen purely for his seniority, and ‘experience’. I believe Hernandez, instead of Owen, would be the better way to go about it.
