LVG: “United should have had a penalty”

Manchester-United-vs-Manchester-City (3)Louis Van Gaal said he was disappointed by Mark Clattenburg’s decision not to award his side a penalty in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

The United manager felt Raheem Sterling’s challenge on Ander Herrera in the second half should have been punished with a penalty, although the match official had a different view on the incident.

“I am disappointed and we don’t have the luck neither because I have seen on the video that Herrera, it was a penalty but the referee was not giving us that benefit and of course it is difficult to see,” he said.

“I can see it clearly on the video that he (Sterling) doesn’t touch the ball but the legs of Herrera but that luck we don’t have this season but I can imagine it is very difficult for the referee so it is not a big issue. It is not the first time I see it that way.”
