Man Utd 4-0 Swansea: Player Ratings

Manchester United were comfortable 4-0 winners at Swansea City.

Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial were on the scoresheet just as they were last week, after Eric Bailyl had opened the scoring.

Here are our players performance:

David de Gea 7

A comfortable grab from Martin Olsson’s overhead kick was the only ‘save’ David de Gea had to make this afternoon.  We’ve faced only two shots on target in the opening 180 minutes this season.

Antonio Valencia 7

Didn’t have much work to do defensively but saw a lot of the ball going forward.  Offered us width down the right but didn’t do anything of note in the final third.

Eric Bailly 9

A rock at the back today again and showed striker’s instinct to follow up on Paul Pogba’s header that hit the crossbar to give us the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Phil Jones 9

A rock at the back today who made a key interception to deny Tammy Abraham a one-on-one.  Made a couple more interceptions and kept the Chelsea loanee in his pocket all afternoon.  Flicked an effort onto the Swansea bar in the opening 10 minutes.

Daley Blind 8

Solid again from the left-back who kept Jordan Ayew quiet for the home side.  Won the ball back a number of times for us and put a couple of good crosses into the box.

Nemanja Matic 9

Saw more touches of the ball than any other player on the pitch, started a number of attacks and broke up many of Swansea’s attempts to attack.  Looked after the ball well in possession in another top performance from Nemanja Matic.

Paul Pogba 8

Tread a tight rope in the first half after a risky foul minutes after picking up a yellow card.  Remained disciplined afterwards and produced another fine performance.  It was Paul Pogba’s header off the crossbar that set up the opening goal before a cheeky dink over Fabianski to make the score emphatic in the final 10 minutes.

Juan Mata 7

Saw his fair share of touches, created the odd chance but was replaced on 74 minutes with the scoreline 1-0.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 9

Another two assists from the number 10 who takes his tally up to four in the first two games to start the season.  Was excellent in possession as he always found a teammate and created a fair few chances for teammates.

Marcus Rashford 7

May be disappointed not to have got on the scoresheet today with his efforts on goal.  Aside from his four efforts on goal he wasn’t actually a big part of the game and was subbed at 1-0.

Romelu Lukaku 7

Scored the killer goal to make it 2-0 with a composed finish in front of goal.  Aside from that Romelu Lukaku saw little of the ball.

Substitutes

Anthony Martial (16 mins) 7

Two substitute appearances and two goals to start the season.  Will Anthony Martial be expected a start next weekend or can we continue to use him as an impact sub?

Marouane Fellaini (16 mins) 6

Brought on to help see out a 1-0 win and we ended up winning 4-0!  Marouane Fellaini had minimal to do defensively.

Ander Herrera (6 mins) N/A

Nothing more than an extra appearance next to his name.
