Manchester United have put an offer on the table to Real Madrid star Marco Asensio, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Don Balon are reporting that we have put a five-year offer worth £24 million-a-year to the 21-year-old.
Marco Asensio has been a sensation for the defending Champions League holders over the past 12 months or so, scoring some stunning goals with his wand of a left foot.
The Spanish international is equally adept to playing the left wing, right wing and central attacking midfield roles. Jose Mourinho has rotated a number of our attacking players in different roles this season – Henrikh Mkitaryan has played on the right wing and number 10 role as have both Juan Mat and Jesse Lingard, for example.
Don Balon go on to say that we are prepared to make an offer of €200 million (£177m) next summer for the attacking midfielder.
With Marco Asensio not a regular in the Real Madrid first team and with a reported significant contract offer on the table, it’s not inconceivable that we could tempt him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, the youngster is under contract until 2023 so the Spanish giants are in no position to need to cash in on the former-Mallorca youth product anytime soon.
