Manchester United Sign Tevez?

Reports are just coming in and looks like Manchester United have signed Carlos Tevez.

The Times carries this report.

Happiness, overflows as I write this, but how certain are we about this deal? Read on.

This is what the Times says in the report:

Manchester United last night appeared to have won the race to sign Carlos Tévez. The West Ham United forward, who is playing in the Copa America in Venezuela, has told his Argentina teammates that a deal has been agreed for him to play at Old Trafford next season [...] It is likely that Tévez will move to United initially on a 12-month loan deal, with a fee of about £4 million payable to Kia Joorabchian, the businessman who owns the economic rights to the player, and wages in excess of £3 million. Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, would also want the option of making the move permanent at the end of next season.

Note the phrasing, Manchester United ‘appeared to have signed’, Tevez ‘has told his Argentina teammates’ and such like. It is speculative. But it is brilliant news if it is in fact true. Since it is the Times, I assume they have reasonable amount of credibility. Although we have to give this thing sometime before we know for sure.

Of course if this is true, expect to have a carnival of some sort, here, at Red Rants. Regular visitors would know how much we love the guy.

So we wait here, breathless and fingers crossed.

If it’s true, it is surely a very very good news. With Rooney n Tevez…*drool*…. nobody can stop us. :D

Need a striker with aerial capability? Rest Tevez n put Saha on. :D

Hmmm…doesn’t something about Tevez remind you of Diego Forland when he was at Man Utd…you know his no goals in his first 19 games for West Ham…hmmm…I hope im left to eat my words, but im highly skeptical…plus, if we were going to spend that much money (reportedly 20 mill) we should have pushed more for Torres or Qualigeriella

Torres and Quagliarella are not prolific. Tevez has played a season in the Prem. He took his time to get acquainted and then he was on fire.

Torres was a tad overpriced (and overrated) IMO. Quagliarella doesn’t even have a good goal scoring record.

TD, Tevez is twice the player Torres is, with twice the potential. I can’t profess to know much about Quagliarella but Torres has gone backwards as a player since 2003.

Tevez is not Diego Forlan. Tevez has already proven his worth in this league. Believe me, if this is is legitimate, United couldn’t have signed a better player.

He fits perfectly into our interchanging 4 pronged attack. All these people thinking we need a big forward are mistaken. We didn’t need a big forward last season, and scored goals for fun. What we need is mobile skillfull forwards who inter-change with the wingers. Tevez is the best of these players. Remember he’s still only 23.

United are creating a team that will last 10 years!

And Tevez wore a Manchester United jersey to a press conference before :) It shows that this lad wants to join us.

Torres IS a bit overpriced at 26 million. We got Rooney at 26-27 million pounds. Can he do what Rooney have done? i doubt.

    Quagliarella…seriously, he’s not proven.

And I must agree with the rest that Tevez has managed to settle himself in EPL. He didn’t score in the first 19 games but he did contribute a lot to the team. He was trying to learn and adapt to the way of the English games.

Torres? He has never played in EPL before and he’s worth 26 million.

Diego Forlan is another type of player….not exactly the same type with Tevez. Tevez is more like Rooney actually.

Here it says, it is a permanent move for 20 M pounds! I am just loving it. Though i would have preferred berba/eto’o over tevez, both of them would have been too expensive and also are on the wrong side of the 20s. Tevez will bring a lot of creativity and fluidity to the table. I have loved this guy ever since the world cup, where I thought he was more exciting than Messi, though I have to concede Messi was returning from injury that time.

i really hope that tis is true and tevez comes to man u. imagine our line-up in say 4 years.

    Tevez/rossi Rooney

    Nani/anderson C. Ronaldo
    hargreaves carrick
    Evra ——–
    Evans/Pique Vidic
    Foster/Kuzhack

now all we need is a good YOUNG (thats why right back is blank) full back and we have an awesome line-up for the futre.

If this fact is true than this is the perfect response of SAF to the signing Torres by Liverpool. Great deal really. I can not imagine striking pair Rooney&Tevez :ava:

Is Tevez the missing link ? In the United side I mean :)

I hope it is true, if nothing else it will mean more chance of West Ham getting relegated.

i am skeptical abt this ..will we end up like another real madrid..if we do sign tevez thts the third attacking player we have added to wat was already the best attacking team in europe..i think its unnecessary..besides i still have doubts whether tevez can play alongside rooney..btw rossi also likes to play just off the front striker..ie we will end up with 3 players who are too similar to each other..wat we need is someone who can play upfron..someone like saha..not tevez..but i certainly dont want mr cough and shaving blade to add him to the pool of losers they seem to be assembling at.anfield.

TEVEZ is the man, am really thrilled but lets hold our horses and wait for the confirmation, it this is true then UTD WILL RULE THE WORLD. You cannot compare tevez with el-nino(torres), Tevez is proven in the lig, Elnino disappears in games for months, he is such an inconsistent player and Diego Forlan perfectly matches the quality of TORRES. TEVEZ , ROO, ROONNIE WILL RULE THE WORLD. Tell JOSE its our turn to rumble….

    Ferguson has transfer success…

It seems possible that United have signed Tevez (as discussed here) and whether it is true or not is still open to debate.
One thing that is true is the following quote from Times Online
Even Chelsea have had no answer to the speed and extravagance wit…

I don’t think West Ham will get relegated. Not with the amount of money thrown around by them these days.

About Tevez, if we do buy him, we won’t need to make anymore buys this summer. That’s for sure.

What the hell..good as tevez is, SAF should have more sense then to bring him in before offloading. Tevez coming will only upset the balance. HOw many forwards do we have now????! Dong, Ole,Anderson,Smith,Saha,Rooney,Rossi,TEVEZ? That’s 7!?! If United were really to sign him, then they must have included either smith or saha in the deal. But Saha is a good option off the bench or starting berth so it’d mean Smith. Poor dude then. And if they didnt include any strikers in the package, then its off to loan again for Rossi. And seeing that the two starting strikers are both young (Tevez-rooney),Rossi might not want to wait ten years for that, and move on. That’s just shooting ourselves in the foot no? So Pray we offload someone if reports are true, or even better, include smudger or saha in the deal! So chances are the reports aern’t anywhere near what is offered…

No, they probably won’t get relegated, but I’ve had an irrational hatred of them since 1995 and can live in hope :)

    holy shit

I dont think any Utd fan expected us to sign Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson and Tevez in one transfer window. Thats fukking brilliant!

I was always one that wondered how Tevez and Rooney would play in the same team. I hope it works because if it does, we’d be unbeatable.

I do wonder where the money came from though: Hargreaves (16m), Nani(14m?), Anderson (18m?) and Tevez (20m). Thats close to 70m. Well the Glazers have proved their doubters wrong. Hell, thats an understatement

  23. Shaheen Seedat says: Reply to this comment

Man, I cannot wait to see this team in about 4-5 years.

Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Nani, Anderson all wreaking havoc

Carrick and Hargreaves in the centre

    WOW!

I guess Rooney will be the guy to be the main striker - perhaps we wont need to play that style. All the guys interchanging

  24. De_Roiste says: Reply to this comment

I don’t have any fear of them playing together to be honest. Rooney and Tevez are extremely talented players and can easily alternate dropping into the hole. I believe it would give us fantastic mobility and movement. God help the defences trying to mark them!

Again, I agree with you boys. We’d better wait until it’s comfirmed by the club. But I would be delighted! For all the strikers we were linked with, he was the one I would have loved us to sign. Just like Ahmed has been hoping since day 1!!

The kid has heart, aggression, skill, speed, strength and a will to win. That fits for me. I disagree with the need for a target man for link up play and height in attack. We have (and now will have even more hopefully!) great movement among the forwards. Didn’t Carrick say that is was a pleasure to play with the man utd boys because he always has at least two targets to aim for!?

I think with Saha being injured so much last year and Rooney having to play up on his own, we were stretched and suffered a bit. Giggs doesn’t have the legs to make up all those yeards in support of a lone striker for the whole game. Scholesy is the same. Only CR had the speed and legs to break like lightening with Rooney. All going well, we’ll have many options with Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez!!!, Nani and Anderson. Plenty of pace and skill.

I hope the stories are true. I hope Tevez signs. It would be fantastic for the club and the fans! We can kick back for the summer then and relax. Take in the pre-season and look forward to what will surely be an exciting season with Utd playing some cracking football.

Tevez’s story so far is quite a good read:
