Manchester United to top the table

Tag: Manchester United Fixtures @ 8:53 am

With the rest of the Premier League in FA Cup action the pressure is on United to clamber above Chelsea and Arsenal with a win over Hull this weekend.

A victory would make the Reds the first top flight team to reach 50 points this season and take them two clear of those London rivals. Three points is imperative.

And if Betfair layers are to be believed it will be achieved with little fuss as United go in to the game as overwhelming 1.17 (1-6) favourites.

Those odds aren’t particularly surprising given the champions’ dominance over the Tigers in the Premier League (three wins from three) and Hull’s position in the relegation scrap, but there are better bets to be had. Let’s find them.

With such weak opposition in town, Sir Alex may have one eye more focused on Wednesday’s second leg Carling Cup semi-final and that should be factored into our betting.

It’s highly unusual to see over 3.5 goals trading so close to odds on at 2.22 (6-5) and it’s simply too low a price to ignore. Lay that. United are capable of running up big scores, but they do so less frequently than people suspect. Since the 5-0 win over Wigan on December 30, five goals have been scored in four games with three coming against Burnley last weekend.

The chance of a low score is increased by Hull’s defensive mindset. The Tigers are highly likely to approach the game with the same ‘backs-to-the-wall’ formation that worked so well at White Hart Lane. Nevertheless, a Reds win has to be the fancy so let’s take a gamble on the 2-0 and 3-0 wins at 7 (6-1) and 8 (7-1) respectively.

Those score predictions suggest we fancy a home clean sheet and at 1.8 (4-5) it’s short but tempting nevertheless.

Away from Old Trafford the FA Cup will bring its usual array of mismatches, upsets and close-run-things.

We will undoubtedly lose a few Premier League clubs this weekend but three look worth following – a multiple on Aston Villa (at home to Brighton), Tottenham (at home to Leeds) and Everton (at home to Birmingham) pays at odds of 2.9 (19-10). The Toffees have the toughest task but the tails are up at Goodison and Birmingham’s run must end soon. Spurs and Villa just have to play to their ability and they should progress.

You can also win two tickets in the North Stand for the second leg of the Carling Cup semifinal on Wednesday. Watch Manchester United beat Manchester City live at Old Trafford by placing a risk-free bet with Betfair.

  • @[OPTI]Madschester United: Brown has been a liability lately. No way would I play him over Rio.

  • @Redrich: Sorry mate, I meant to say Rafael, not Rio.

  • @[OPTI]Madschester United: We dont want them to get to a cup final through OT m8, they would likely give Villa a thumping and therefore get their first piece of Silverware, this Century  Its a must to beat them.I take on your sentiments though regards the desire to beat Arsenal also,If we beat citeh the confidence will be high for the Journey to North london.Yeah Valencia on the right that evening is the right choice he has to track that speedy welsh twat Bellamy, and also as you saw at wastelands get at Garrido there left back, its there achilles heel m8.
Rafael is Progressing m8, he is as you know very young, it all takes time, he is gonna be a top right back, you must expect inconsistency with young player’s it’s part and parcel of the package.
I am not going to knock your opinion on Park m8.I just think he looks very clumsy, spends a lot of time on his backside, blah blah blah. Its all be well documented elsewhere, but I dont like persistently knocking any Manchester United player.
Yeah I Hear your sentiments loud and clear regards Wedensday, its gonna be a real roller coaster of a game, just getting so nervous already.Be fandabbyydoozzieee.

  • @[OPTI]Madschester United: I love your sentiment towards Italian players. I concur. Italian players are all slime balls and drama queens and cheaters. And I personally am not that impressed with Chiellini. Having said that, selling Vidic for anything less than a rape price like 35 or 40 million will indicate to all of us just what is happening here. It’s not about Vidic want in to leave. It’s about the Glazer’s desperate for money that they will undervalue him rather than keep him.

  • @gator: Yeah that was calculated to hurt Wes, but m8 we dont want to do anything stupid to get one of the lads red carded either. He is a bad bastard Teve$.He just so yearns to be at the biggest club in the world,Its the thing they will NEVER EVER be able to claim.

  • @gator: Personally I do not think it is a red card infraction because he hardly made contact and it was not an intentional attempt to injure. I would give him a yellow for dangerous play though.

Like? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • @Scotjimland: That was hardly calculated mate. Seriously, does bias come into this at all? He hardly touched him and Brown mate an acting lesson of the rest. I am no Tevez fan but I know the difference between intentional and accidental. He deserved a yellow for being very careless but that is all. Much ado about nothing really.

  • @Grognard:Hi m8, you know the more I read about these cunts, I just get depressed, i read the link you put up yesterday and commented on the site, its all just very frightening if you look at the worst scenarios,if I sent you over the fare to fly to Florida, could you do the right thing.Thats my humour and it’s not a funny situation but what else can we do, its a double edged sword here, stop supporting the team, you fuck the club.Chant all the time, to those wankers the team get no encouragement on the field of play.
Ps hope yer Mum is on the mend m8

  • @Grognard: yes bias does come into it! sorry but that is how i feel, i dont like that dood now, for the luggy run down the touch line to the Manchester united management and staff, and the yappy fingers gesture, how i would have loved to break them off and shove them were the sun dont shine!

  • @Scotjimland: HOLY SHIT MATE, the game was fantastic! Inter never deserved to win the game, diving all over the place there. Real team managed by Mourniho there, lucky to win and being dirty in the prosess. Milan were all over them, Becks was man of the match me thinks! First Sneijder got the most silly red card I’ve seen in me life, ref should be arrested for being so stupid! Gave a red card to Wes for clapping his hands ironically, stupid yes but not so dingly-ding headed to be a red card. Inter scored to mint goals, but the second one was a brililant free kick which never should have been.. Horrible ITALIAN!!! dive by Maicon there, on 20 yards, gave Pandev a splendid opportunity to curl it into the cop corner. Mint goal, but Milan could have had 3 or 4 goals before Pandev struck. Then Milan got a penalty on 90 minutes, with a 5 minute added time, Ronaldinho struck it well but Cesar saved it well. Game over for Milan, Good night and Jose,,, holy shit Jose is a wanker by destructive proportions, saying “Pfffft, easy” when Cesar saved it. ABSOLUTELY MINT GAME!!!

And yeah, what a week we are going in to!!! City in the CC semi final, Arsenal in what could be a title decider! Early days I know, but who knows what might happen this season!?!?!?! What a week it’s gonna be, two wins and I’M REVELLIBNG!!!!

  • Just realised that:

RVN will very probably never win the Champions’ League.

Robinho is going to be a flop of MASSIVE proportions and nobody is going to talk about it. If he was a United player the ABU media would have had a feast.

  • @Scotjimland: You can ask all my mates if you want, I told them we were gonna lose the first game 2-1. But I never expected us to play so well! We were so close to actually winning that game I couldn’t believe it! But, it went as I predicted result wise. City won that one 2-1. BUT, you can ask my mates about this as well, I said we were gonna win the home leg 2-0 as well. ;-) So I stand by that, even thgouh my heart says 5-0 to United my mind is stuck on 2-0. And that I expect…

  • The Rooney!!!! 19goals / 22 league appearances, fuckin CLASS. Nani, well done lad, just keep it up. Great to have Rio back, solid. Did I say Nani was class?(btw he looked very happy in his post match interview, i dont think he’s going anywhere, at least i hope not.) This game went on as usual, we go a goal up then struggled to put to bed. Had Hull equalised around the 70th min we could all be mightely pissed off now, but instead the Boy Wonder© Rooneys drive and resolute winning mentality buries Hull near the end. Are we witnessing a Renaisance in Uniteds season? I know it was Hull, but all round things were more positive, lets all hope that the momentum is seized now and we do the Bitters and then the Arse. Delighted to hear the anti Glazer chants all the way through the game, keep it up lads! We’re dead proud of you. Oh yeah, where is Craig Mc??? where are ya Bro? time to face the music from the Rooney fans ;-) Really looking forward to the Bitters on Wed. Bring it on!

  • Bryan'Robbo'Robson

Great win. Let us keep the momentum going and show shitty who is the boss. Please, Fergie, DON’T play gibson! The lad doesn’t seem to have any football sense at all although he does/only have a good shot. He is not fit to lace ‘my’ boots! Sad to say but would rather have park playing than gibson  :?: :?:

Like? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • @ Robbo, dont agree at all about Gibson, i think the lads game has come on in leaps and bounds recently, his passing game is more progressive and to say that Park is better is frankly rediculous and it seems to some that Gibson has become the new O Shea!!!!! :-( !!!!
