Manchester United Team News & Preview

Manchester United will look to get their Premier League campaign back on the right track after two successive draws. The Red Devils are progressing well in the domestic cups as a Wembley final for the EFL Cup awaits.

This will be United’s third game against Hull City in January, having already faced the Tigers in the EFL Cup’s two-legged semi-finals. United won the home leg 2-0 before suffering an inconsequential 2-1 defeat at the KCOM Stadium. The top four all failed to collect three points last night, hence this game is an opportunity for the Red Devils to close in on the teams above them.

Eric Bailly is back in the fold after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. Jose Mourinho made nine changes in last weekend’s FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic, and most of his main starters should be back in the line-up. There are no injury concerns.

Manchester United predicted line-up (4-3-3): De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Rojo, Herrera, Carrick, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovi?, Martial.

Hull City Team News & Preview

Hull seemed to have arrested their slide after their EFL Cup win over United last week but they were thumped 4-1 by Fulham in the FA Cup just three days later. Fresh from selling their prized assets—Robert Snodgrass and Jake Livermore—in the January window, there will be plenty of new faces on show at Old Trafford.

Marco Silva has inspired a mini-revival at Hull since being appointed in early January, but his team’s three wins under him have all been followed by defeats. If a similar pattern follows, then we could be in for a shock result at Old Trafford. The United game is the start of a difficult run of games for the Tigers, who face Liverpool and Arsenal next.

Ahmed Elmohamady is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, while DR Congo’s Dieumerci Mbokani will be unavailable. With Curtis Davies out injured and Michael Dawson and Harry Maguire nursing knocks, new signing Andrea Ranocchia could be thrown into the deep end.

Hull City predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Marshall, Maguire, Dawson, Ranocchia, Meyler, Clucas, Huddlestone, Henriksen, Robertson, Niasse, Hernandez.

Manchester United v Hull City Key Stats

Manchester United are on the current longest unbeaten run in the Premier League (13 games – W7 D6 L0).

Hull have picked up just one point in nine Premier League meetings with Manchester United (W0 D1 L8).

Manchester United have already attempted more shots on target in their 11 league games at Old Trafford this season (77) than they did in the whole of last season at home (75).

Manchester United v Hull City Betting Tips

Six of United’s 11 wins this season have been by a two-goal margin, hence expect another two-goal win for the Red Devils. United are heavy favourites with William Hill and other bookmakers, so don’t just back a United win – a better option is to bet on two or more goals in the game on BettingExpert.com and take advantage of their free bet offer as well.

Hull are rank outsiders for a win, but in Silva’s short stay at the club, every defeat has been followed by a win. It will be an impressive feat should the Portuguese manager repeat the trick against his compatriot Mourinho.

Manchester United v Hull City Prediction

Despite not winning their last two league games, United haven’t had a drop-off in performance levels. With plenty of new signings at Hull who will take time to settle, the game is United’s to lose and an easy win for the Red Devils by a two-goal margin should pan out.
