Manchester United’s Munich tribute on 6 Feb 2008
Manchester United have announced plans to mark the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster on 6 February 2008.
The highlights:
* United players to wear a retro 1950s-style kit against Manchester City on 10 February
* Permanent, free exhibition telling the story of the Busby Babes
* South Stand tunnel to be renamed the Munich Tunnel
* Memorial service involving survivors, relatives of those who died, guests and fans
* MUTV to broadcast free-to-air on 6 February
You can get the full details and the writeup on the official site (you’d think they’d use search friendly URLs by now).
Question of the day - anyone here old enough to remember the event? Barring that, anyone here born before the Munich air disaster?

That’s completely irrelevant but I want to say that Neville is injured again. As I said on a previous comment that’s bullsht cause Neville is being prepared for the BIG MATCHES.Neville is needed for the CHL so SAF wants to keep the captain fresh for these games…I just don’t believe SAF…..And of course I’m not one of the old men so I want make any comment on the Munich crash

gary has suffered another setback. so much for him playing in the roma game. you mates were right when you said that we will only believe the hype when we see that man on the field.

Gary should play in the special team…

I dont even think my dad was born before the munich air disaster.looking forward to seeing the retro kit though.gary injured again…oh this sounds bad.the longer these lies go on the more obvious it seems that something seriously is wrong.anyhow brown is doing a fantastic job(bar the crossing).and our defence is doing well.derby should expect no less than 4 goals tomorrow.

I wasn’t even born then so it has been hard for me to really feel the pain that many others have had to endure over that very sad and bitter day. I can only imagine how it must have felt if say my local hockey or Canadian football team had a similar tragedy befall them. The mind goes numb at the thought of childhood heroes snuffed out like that. February 6 will definitely be a day on my calendar to offer my respect and a moment of silence.

As for Gary Neville, I believe I posted last week and made the claim that he will play next for United when pigs fly. I just may be right on that. It’s obvious his injury is not just career threatening, it is career ending. This long and this many complications and setbacks means it’s all over for Gary I’m afraid. He just needs to come to terms with it like Ole eventually did. His pride and determination is probably blinding him from the reality of the situation.
United better start that serious search for Gary’s replacement. Perhaps Danny Simpson is the man but we need a contributor who can elevate our came from that right side like Evra does from the left. Yes I am sending compliments to Evra as he has begun to win me over. Brown is a great servant and a fantastic backup in our back four but we need a game maker at RB. We also need insurance at LB. The likes of Willy Sagnol coming over for a year or two is looking pretty good right now. Before his injury he was Bayern and France’s first choice at RB. He’ll do for now. What say you all?

It was Ahmed Bilal who didn’t like Evra…Wasn’t he? All right, now we ‘re searching for one more Evra, but RB…He was wrong, wasn’t he….

Sorry Guys ! But Sagnol
… He is old , He wont be able to withstand the UCL tempo in the second round !
Why do we want a aging player when we can start grooming another one .We will be regressing instead of progressing if we buy him !!
I am more concerned about LB than RB .. For Rb we have Brown Pique Simpson and Hargo , who can take that role .However for LB we only have Evra plus Oshea who is primarily right footed !
For LB we can get Matt Taylor .. As per BBC Pompey is releasing him .. He is excellent in attack , crosses defends Ok and surely a big match player ….
Grognard i am for as well as against ur comments in other topics
.. When abt million arse bloggers blog every match as if they have won the trophies and mock at us by quoting the price tag , i think we can stand up for our players like Carrick when they can stand up Gilberto and Mikel
Having said that i also support ur point that it is way too early for celebrating the draw .. Looking purely into fixtures arsenal are in a better position than us .. This is because of the important Tough Away Fixtures . They have played important away teams like Blackburn Newcastle Tottenham Westham Reading and by the month end Pompey and Everton .We still havent face the first 5 teams in their ground !
One place where i see us improving tremendously this season our performance against the Big 4 .. If we can defeat Liverpool and take the lead by Jan , there will be no stopping us !

Brown could leave? wtf!is he serious?
December 8th, 2007 at 10:12
sad for gary but i think we should bring our brazilian fullbacks.maybe not to atart but to adapt.simpson should be given a run as brown is leaving.dont debate about it he said the same stuff about butt before he left.i really feel we are seing the end of fergie as united manager.we have gone too continental.i smell quiroz. today, nani starts.lets give our old man a rest.

Rick you say no to Sagnol but yes to Matty Taylor, you do know that Hreidarsson and Pamorot both start ahead of him, so clearly if Harry Redknapp knows how good he really is then he shouldn’t be coming to us. Plus Sagnol still has the pace to run up and down the flank all day, just like Cafu, they never seem to age, and Sagnol can play LB without a problem, it’s just he’s getting injury prone.
‘busingye’ would you be happy to let Carlos Queiroz take over and let Fergie retire now? Why not have Queiroz help decide the tactics we play and keep Fergie’s brilliant man management skills, we get the best of both worlds, plus fergie knows how to groom our youngsters, we aren’t sure if Queiroz does…
