Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken a jibe at Bastian Schweinsteiger and trolled his former club Bayern Munich in his own style.
Marked with the anchored float of unsettling rumours of his uncertain Old Trafford future, veteran German midfielder vowed that United will be his last club in Europe, as he issued this message on his official twitter account.
Schweinsteiger was even linked with a move to the Major League Soccer, but the experienced midfielder committed his future to United. But Mourinho does not seem to be very impressed with the idea, as he has openly stated that the 32-year-old can stay at the club to see through his remaining two years of contract, but he will not probably play. Not only this, the boss said that even the academy young midfielders will also be higher in the pecking order than Schweinsteiger.
The international friendly with Finland is going to be Schweinsteiger’s final appearance for Germany. The public tonguelash of Mourinho, might well be a ploy to offload the star, who is on a staggering £200,000-a-week wage.
Even Bayern Munich could not evade Mourinho’s sarcasmic wrath, as the gaffer mocked them for not following up their rumoured interest in capturing their ex-skipper on the silhouette of vast censure in Germany that he has treated the star disrespectfully.
”I think it’s very difficult for Schweinsteiger to play this season. I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m saying it’s very difficult. We have a decision made about Pogba, Herrera, Scheniderlin, Fellaini and Carrick. That’s five players for two positions. It’s very, very difficult that an opportunity will arise,” Mourinho explained.
“If we have any kind of problem or opportunity. I have a few young players in the academy that I will be more than happy to accelerate their process by bringing them up.”
“I have spoken to him about it. I cannot answer for him. It’s his life. It’s his career. He has a contract with Man United and he has a right to make that decision and stay. That’s not a problem for us.”
”Football is made of decisions. I did that all my career. Not just me, everyone does. Some players react in a different way and have those kind of decisions. To be honest Bastian is not speaking a lot. He gave this last statement, which he is free to do in an objective and polite way like he did.”
“No problems at all. I thought after I read some quotes from people at Bayern Munich that they would run to Manchester to bring him back, but no, it did not happen.” – concluded United manager on Schweinsteiger issue
