Manchester United have signed 20-year-old Uruguayan, Guillermo Varela, on a five year contract after agreeing a deal with the defender’s former club Penarol last week.
Varela will represent his country later this month at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey before joining up with his new team mates.
Varela represents the first signing of the Moyes era at Old Trafford after he took over from Sir Alex Ferguson who retired at the end of last season.
Speaking to ManUtd.com, Varela said: “I’m very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the World.

“As everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues.”
Varela joins the Red Devils after impressing during a two week trial at Carrington during May.
