Saha Talks Again | Brandy Off To Swansea | Twins To OT

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:15

Louis Saha reckons he will help fire United to glory. He has said something like this for the 789th time this season. We have been waiting, and we’ll continue to wait. So let’s listen to what he’s saying:

It’s great to score goals. I’m a striker and that’s my job and now I want to concentrate on scoring more goals for the team. I’m very hard on myself and always want to do better, so I’m not very satisfied with how the season has gone so far on a personal level. I know I can do better, and hopefully I showed that against Sunderland. The manager’s always shown a lot of faith in me and that gives me a lot of confidence. I’m definitely getting there [with overcoming injuries]. I played two full games in a row over Christmas and that was the first time I’d done that for a while.

And I am going to run for President, I assure you. I have seen the injustices committed in this world and I believe I can turn things around. And I am also, like Saha, getting there.

Keegan ‘I’d Love It’ Returns To Geordie-land. Heh!

Now this is in no way related to Man Utd from a purely news point of view. But long timers would never forget the history that accompanies this remarriage with an old foe — if we could call him that. Kevin Keegan has overseen the best period of Newcastle’s recent history, but he’s also been a figure that induces smiles on Reds fans’ faces.

When you do that with footballers like he said about Leeds… I’ve kept really quiet, but I’ll tell you something, he went down in my estimation when he said that - we have not resorted to that. But I’ll tell ya - you can tell him now if you’re watching it - we’re still fighting for this title, and he’s got to go to Middlesbrough and get something, and… and I tell you honestly, I’d love it if we beat them, just love it!

Oh yes! That unforgettable rant. How he would have loved it had he beat us. How many ifs and buts there. He had to eat those words immediately as Newcastle dropped points and we won the remaining two games to complete a famous comeback — something that was to haunt Alan “you can’t win the League with kids” Hansen, till date. Oh, we also won the FA Cup that season.

Fletch Wants To Stay. Do You Want Him?

Tag: DiscussionsRed Ranter @ 9:31

Darren Fletcher has quashed reports that he will be moving to another club during the January window. He seems as determined as ever to fight his way back into the team.

“I never heard anything about Birmingham being interested, I just know I want to be here for a long time. My only focus is on being ready when the manager needs me and being able to perform for the club when asked.”

I personally like the lad. He’s certainly is a very limited player in comparison with others in the central midfield position. The arrival, and surprisingly excellent performances, of Anderson and the assurance of Hargreaves, when he plays, has made Fletcher make only 15 appearances so far this season.

Update on Red Rants

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 20:10

This site is not down. It is very much alive. I am finally home and free from jet lag. And I certainly promise to bring RR back to it’s glory days. :)

About the Newcastle game report, I will write one. I missed the game but I still did watch the entire recorded match. So I will get a small report. Surely, our biggest win of this season deserves a match report?

Also I will get back to discussing United rumours and news.

And I will get to this soon. Before signing off, here’s the video of the Newcastle game again [Motd].

Man Utd vs Newcastle Utd: Preview

Tag: Game PreviewRed Ranter @ 17:10

A very short one for everyone. I am headed to the airport for a long flight to some part of the world that I would call home. So this would be pretty short.

Newcastle, who are managerless at the moment, will play us today. I don’t really like the thought of a managerless team. It could be argued that due to the uncertainty surrounding their situation, the players may put in uncertain displays. But it makes things unpredictable, so complacency is something that would be best taken off our players’ system.

Huntelaar Interest Returns | Gill On Club Finances | Manucho, Anderson and Ronaldo

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 14:00

Lots of things to talk about today, so we’ll get into it straightaway without the usual waffle.

The Sun is reporting that Fergie will be prepared to offer 12 million pounds for the Dutch hitman. The surprisingly low value placed on the striker is apparently due to Ajax’s financial troubles. The Telegraph has also picked up the story, linking to the Sun article.

If this were to be true, it would be a steal (and a gamble worth taking). Fergie has been a known admirer of the striker and the price tag would certainly tempt him. Especially given his age and the ridiculous value placed on Berbatov.

However, one would have to stop and think for a while on the bearing it could have on our frontline — Tevez and Rooney have proved to be a killer combination.

Neville’s Return | Benzema’s ‘Interest’ | Sven Urges Bitters to Show Respect

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:15

Captain Neville returned to action, finally, in a reserve game against Everton reserves yesterday. And guess what, he scored!

He played 45 minutes without too much trouble. One hopes his run out does no damage to him this time. It’s good to see Neville return and hopefully, he should be back to first team action before long. A bench role against Newcastle may be far fetched, but he should be able to make it back to first team action towards the end of January if he makes good progress from now on.

Easter Island Head’s NYC Visit | Ronaldo Goes Top | Fergie’s Double/Treble Aim

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:58

Easter Island Head, better known as EIH or Mikael Silvestre, has been forgotten for a while. That his absence has coincided with one of our meanest defensive records is not a… umm… coincidence. Hence we could be forgiven for forgetting the Frenchman. My heart beats less vigourously now than it used to when he used to have the ball at his feet.

In seriousness though, he is a decent squad player to have and his experience is decent enough for us to get through games during the latter half of the season. Long term, however, his place is always going to be in doubt. SAF does seem to have faith in him, going by his contract renewals. And EIH himself, seems to be a determined person, always looking to fight his way back into first team reckoning; the presence of outstanding centre backs and a brilliant left back, of course, makes his life that much more difficult.

A Return to Daily Updates

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:05

Hello everyone. There has been a lack of the usual daily roundups here so let’s get on with it.

But before moving on though, a little clarification on the rumours doing the rounds on this site. I am not married, nor have I ever been married in my lifetime. I also don’t intend on getting married anytime soon. Sorry to disappoint. Of course, thanks to Ahmed — our own resident rumour monger — people have actually begun believing things. Don’t fret, I will get back at Ahmed soon enough. :) He would have to be afraid. Very afraid! I do thank the good wishes though. The intent is appreciated.

And one more thing: The reason for the slackness witnessed in this site’s posting frequency is also due to the fact that I have been on vacation for a month. It is a long vacation indeed; since mid-December and it will go on till mid-January. And during this vacation there are short jaunts between places that would make it impossible to update the site. Hence the irregularity. Inconveniences are regretted, deeply. Although, I guess, Scott’s blog, during this period has gone on overdrive, with some really good articles, so your daily dose of United news and opinion is never lost. I would hope.

Anyway, back to United related stuff.
