A Simple Guide To Kicking Liverpool Ass

Tag: Game PreviewAhmed Bilal @ 11:11

Let’s get down to business, shall we?

It’s us against the 5-times, 5-times squad on Sunday, and there’s been plenty of banter from both sides. Scott reckons that beating Liverpool is a bigger deal than slapping Arsenal around - I disagree but perhaps that’s because of our different histories and geographical locations.

Still, whether Liverpool are worthy opponents or not, they still have to be beaten (only an idiot - perhaps the same idiot who claimed the same thing last season (Reina I’m talking to you) - would suggest that the 3 points are in the bag). So how can Manchester United beat Liverpool, at Anfield, on Sunday?

Roma vs Man Utd: Preview

Tag: Game PreviewRed Ranter @ 13:41

There may not be enough time for me to do a Roma preview tomorrow so I’d rather do it today.

For the discerning ones, who are curious to know the reason behind my reduced involvement in the affairs of this blog, let me assure you that things will be back to normal for sure. The first two weeks of December was always going to be an exceptionally busy period in my life and this mad couple of weeks would end on the 15th for me; after which things will return to the usual. That I could find time to post in spite of all this was a miracle, if you ask me. (Thanks, of course, to Ahmed who chipped in.)

Anyway, on to the preview…

So as expected, United comfortably saw off Derby County on their way to a 4-1 win. Giggs opened the scoring, Tevez added two and Ronaldo capped it off at the death, converting a penalty.

Man Utd vs Derby County: Preview

It’s been quite a week for me, so it should come as some sort of relief to be back finally. Much thanks to Ahmed for chipping in as usual and preventing the site from rotting away. Of course, a more than cursory nod is in order for the readers who kept dropping by while participating in the banter in the comments thread. Needless to say, you people form the other half of this site — the better half, that is.

Anyway, onto the game and we face Derby County today — a club that could easily be termed as among the worst ones to have ever played in the Premiership. Bookmakers, fans and pundits alike predict a goal fest. The manager also expects more goals from the side - expecting the players to show a much more ruthless streak in front of goal.

Manchester United’s Munich tribute on 6 Feb 2008

Manchester United have announced plans to mark the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster on 6 February 2008.

The highlights:

* United players to wear a retro 1950s-style kit against Manchester City on 10 February
* Permanent, free exhibition telling the story of the Busby Babes
* South Stand tunnel to be renamed the Munich Tunnel
* Memorial service involving survivors, relatives of those who died, guests and fans
* MUTV to broadcast free-to-air on 6 February

You can get the full details and the writeup on the official site (you’d think they’d use search friendly URLs by now).

Question of the day - anyone here old enough to remember the event? Barring that, anyone here born before the Munich air disaster?

Liverpool’s ‘Match-Fixing’, and the FA Cup Cockup

The Red Ranter is splitting his time between blowing smoke rings out of his ears and gorging on Gummy Haggis and I’m working on my registration form for Soccerex Dubai (while blowing smoke rings from my ears), so time is short.

Who is your Manchester United’s Player Of The Month for November?

Red Ranter is away saving his mistress from the evil that is anti-abortion evangelism - in his time of need, I’ll be filling in at Red Rants for the next couple of days. Feel free to send those abusive emails my way.

Personally, I think November wasn’t a great month for United - we slipped in the title race (just), conceded that late goal to Arsenal in the most ridiculous few seconds of ping-pong football that I’ve seen in the United fox for a while, and we haven’t been helped with a couple of niggling injuries either.

We face Fulham in a late kick off on a Monday. I know, it can be frustrating if your team is not playing in the weekend. But that’s the way it is, and with the extra day that the lads got to rest you have to think that it should serve them well.

Injured Captain Continues Wretched Run While Wazza Has Until Lunchtime

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 11:45

Update: Word from the official site is that Neville might be back for the Roma game. But we have heard about his ‘impending return’ a lot for the past eight months. We’ll have to wait and see.
And Rooney looks likely to play against Fulham. Now here goes another article rendered irrelevant! Oh, well. Read the rest of the article if you still have to.

It’s now official. Or so it will be, if all these months weren’t enough to convince us. The Telegraph confirms some of our worst fears. Captain Gary Neville may not be back until after the New Year.
