Van Gaal: “Payet more or less dived”

Manchester-United-v-West-Ham-FA-CupLouis Van Gaal has accused Dimitri Payet of diving just before scoring the opener for West Ham on Sunday. However, given that Payet was already on a yellow card, some suggested he should have received a second yellow. Minutes later, the Frenchman netted a fantastic free-kick to give West Ham a 1-0 lead, before Anthony Martial rescued United with seven minutes to go.

United were outplayed throughout the game, although Van Gaal believes Liverpool to be awarded a first half penalty when Memphis was judged to have brought down Nathaniel Clyne in the box. The decision didn’t go down well with Van Gaal.

Van Gaal believes United can turn tie around

Tag: Manchester United News @ 7:57 am

Liverpool-v-Manchester-United-Europa-LeagueLouis Van Gaal said he believed Manchester United could still progress to the quarter finals of the Europa League despite an utterly shambolic display that saw them lose the first leg 2-0 to Liverpool on Thursday night.

United were never at the races and were outplayed from kick off, going behind to a Daniel Sturridge penalty midway through the first half before conceding a second with less than 20 minutes to go. Van Gaal, however, insisted his side could still turn the tie around in six days time.
