Perez: “United lack transfer experience”

293450b2-7152-46e4-8fa4-1e0ddc44255f-2060x1236Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has accused Manchester United of lacking experience in the transfer market, as he hinted United should shoulder responsibilities for the collapse of David De Gea’s transfer.

Perez revealed he was left frustrated by United’s behaviour, claiming it took them over eight hours to return the required paperwork to Real Madrid, which also prevented Madrid’s keeper Keylor Navas from joining United.

Speaking to a Spanish radio station, the Real Madrid chief pointed at United’s failures in the 2013 transfer window as proof that Ed Woodward lacked experience in the transfer market.

“At 1330 Manchester United had all the papers but they took eight hours to return them,” Perez told radio station Cadena SER.

“It’s very unfortunate and I don’t want to blame anyone but we don’t understand why it took them so long to send them, or why they only decided to negotiate when there was 12 hours to go.

“I don’t think they had bad intentions, I just think they lack experience as the same thing happened with Coentrao and with Herrera. I had a feeling it wouldn’t happen on time because I couldn’t forget what happened the other year [with Coentrao], but we couldn’t leave De Gea in limbo.”
