Reds Maul Airtricity XI

Rooney, absent for United’s pre-season tour of North America, might even have capped his return with a goal, blazing over after Gary Rogers, the St Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper, had saved Darron Gibson’s shot His performance, though, offered more than enough evidence for Sir Alex Ferguson to consider his totemic forward ready for a rather more competitive run-out against Chelsea in Sunday’s Community Shield. […] After Hernandez’s introduction, though, that may not be enough to guarantee the former England player a starting place against Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

via Airtricity League Select XI 1 Manchester United 7: match report – Telegraph.

Quite. I don’t want to jump too readily onto the Chicharito-bandwagon because I try to wait till I see it in a proper contest, but Hernandez is making it difficult for me.

More of this in the season please. Oh, and Owen, what a great goal!

Meanwhile, all goal videos here.

    @Johnsom33: Nobody. He’s already Wigan’s best player don’t you think? 😀

Good grief is there anything Manchester United that Man Shitty don’t want to get their hands on? Latest news that IF Balloteli doesn’t sign they are not too fussed, because they want Diego Forlan to grace wastelands. Or is that me just being too bloodyminded? 😆

@Jeet: No mate. Hurting Glazer where he lives is what needs to be done, not donating money to the team to make their job easier. Christ sometimes I wonder if many of you can get beyond the now and look at the big picture and the mess the Glazer’s have created and how that mess is only going to multiply in years to come until there won’t be any way to bail this team out and they end up like Leeds. For so many of you the team is like a drug and you need your quick fix. ‘Get players, win now to hell with the future, I need my fix.’ It’s just so sad that so many have no interest or clue what is really going on and all that concerns them is getting players to add tot he team. 🙄 🙄 🙄

    August 5, 2010 at 7:10 pm

@Jeet: There’s not a single Man Utd faithful who would EVER burn their season tickets. So that is a myth Jeet! Many have just not renewed for this season. Boycotting merchandise if it is done en masse, is a very good way of kicking Glazer’s in the bollocks, because if it is en masse, then the sponsors who sponsor tp sell their merchandise will think twice before wanting to pay millions when the audience target they are aiming for is boycotting their products! That’s the thinking behind it Jeet. With regards to your thought again on fan fundraising, well the Red Knights have the money to invest and they are fans – wealthy fans – but fans who want in the next few years the terrace fans who want a part of the club, and the ownership to be given the chance. I am all for that 😆

@Owen: What is a crime is your inability to respect mine and other’s individuals rights to come on here and say whatever we please about Scholes or any other public footballing figure. Your intolerance of our views means absolutely nothing to us or to this blog. Disagree all you want but stop personally condemning us for expressing our rights to say what we please. Jeez mate, stop being so thick and unreasonable. Liking or disliking players is so subjective. Too many Ronaldo is the best player in the world while others can’t stand his guts. What are we supposed to do then, take the ones who can’t stand his guts and place them against a wall and shoot them? Different strokes for different folks. One fucking goal by Scholes does not take away the boring slow play he offers in most games and the awful tackles and numerous yellow cards he inflicts on himself and on his team unnecessarily as well as the infinite number non-pressurized back passes he makes that destroy our attacking momentum. Fuck him, I hate his style of play and cannot wait until he retires when I will hold a party in his honour. And if you aren’t down with that i have two words for you…..TOUGH SHIT.

@Owen: I’m not German you silly little man. I am a Canadian with Greek parentage. This just shows how incredibly ignorant you are as I have been on here so long and have said this so often yet you ignore it and jump to your usual conclusions which are dimwitted and out of context. 😡 😡 🙄 🙄 🙄

@Grognard: I very well know that you are from Vancouver.I was just joking there.
    You were a teacher.
    You even worked with politicians.
You have never been to England.
    You hate Spain most.
    Foster is your favorite player.

Is it enough for you to think now that i am not ignorant. 😆

  9. Grognard

    August 5, 2010 at 7:22 pm

@Owen: I admit to being abusive mate. I am very abusive but only in a retaliatory manner. I don’t start it. Quite often I finish it though. That does not make me right though. I am guilty of a bad temper after people have pissed on me and I have a hard time controlling that anger as my pride and ego get in the way. You have to go well back over the years to find only a few instances where i actually was abusive first. I for one remember one occasion where i put down DAN who no longer is on this blog for being an idiot. I’m not perfect but I am certainly not known for being an instigator either.

@CraigMc: The problem with city is they remind us of a rich but very ugly girl looking for a suitor. All the money and trappings to make that suitor happy but the fact is her face just turns him off. So then she just makes it known to everyone that she’ll take anyone who will have her and that she has all the financial trappings hoping that will seduce them. Fact is that for most men, a lot of money still won’t allow them to make love to an ugly mutt. And Man City is as ugly a dog as there has ever been. They want to buy respectability rather than earn it.

  12. CraigMc

    August 5, 2010 at 7:29 pm

@Jeet: If Grog is on MUST’s payroll, then I wouldn’t mind getting on it myself 😆 , MUST though is a fan organisation dedicated to receiving money and using it to hopefully end the Glazer pillaging of our great football club. A club they have no interest in at all apart from it being a cash cow of a franchise for their lavish lifestyle. Red Ranter Jeet is always as a rule totally impartial. He doesn’t agree with the Glazers per se, but he also may not agree with the grren’golders per se. Blog administrators have to give both sides of the coin, not stating their own opinion even if they have one 🙂

despicable; young petrucci hadnt really got going with us, the lil italian had his fair share of series injuries over past 2years and last i knew he was working on fitness with reserves some time near end of season. Hopefully he can finally put it behind him and make a name for himself some time in the future.

  16. CraigMc

    August 5, 2010 at 7:37 pm

@Owen: Well it might just be enough that you won’t get Grog throttled Owen. I knew you knew he was Greek/Canadian, so your German comment was a joke right Owen? 🙂

  17. CraigMc

    August 5, 2010 at 7:39 pm

@as: Yeah getting so many injuries is a bummer, and like you say it is a long way back, especially galling for young players to go through!

  18. Grognard

    August 5, 2010 at 7:39 pm

@Owen: Well actually mate, I have been to England numerous times. And I do know the Foster bit was your attempt at humour. As for you being ignorant, if you are indeed not, which I believe you in your assertion, then stop making statement s that lead me to that conclusion. The fact I love the Germans does not make me one of them you know. And as for our disagreements, I really perfer it when we are getting along and joking around with each other. For that to happen though, you are just going to have to accept the fact that we do not always agree on players , Fergie or other things. And that’s OK. Everyone agreeing makes for a dull world. Just know this, I do not dislike Paul Scholes as a persona and I too respect and value his great contribution to this team over the years. But i would be a lying to myself and being disingenuous if I publicly came out and said I like him as a player. He’s just not my cup of tea mate. I have never taken to his style of play. So many elements of his overall game just rub me the wrong way. If all these years he had played in Italy he would have won the Balon D’Or a few times because his style is so suited to the Italian game. And we all know what I think of Italian football. So you don’t have to like or agree with my comments mate but you should begrudge my right to make them as I do not begrudge your right to express yours. If we are in agreement on this, then we can go on and continue to be friendly on this blog and stop with all this cat fighting and he said she said BS. 🙂

@CraigMc: I must say that a woman’s private area is a thing of joy for me but when Terry is compared to it, well it just turns me off of women. On the other hand, when they call Ballack that, well it just turns me on. 😉 😀 😀

@Jeet: Mate I am so far away from the UK, I couldn’t afford to even fly there, maybe you should be asking people who can and are willing to do what you say. From here, I can only rant 👿

@Grognard: “On the other hand, when they call Ballack that, well it just turns me on” mate, you just took away one of my biggest joys, calling B*ll*ck a cunt! Now I picture a Greek/Canadian and that thug and the “turning on” 😯

  30. CraigMc

    August 5, 2010 at 8:06 pm

@Owen: I think none of our players should have to play every single game – because they cannot play to their maximum if they are flogged to death. Rooney suffered from that, because he thought he was like Ronaldo, but found out he hasn’t the same body as Ronaldo, and he needs to not play every single game if we want the best from him. Same goes for Evra and all our players.

@CraigMc: Hopefully between O’Shea, Fabio and DeLaet we can look at Evra getting a break more regularly this season. Fabio’s injuries though are worrisome, hope we don’t have another serial crock on our hands.

Quick browse through the comments, I see that the site and the usual suspects still like to harbour a few lies.

Scholes – was he good last season?
No way. The last two months were good. But for about 2/3rds in the season was quite poor.
the reverse of berba really, but as always, memory is selective and tends to mistake last recorded temporary form as season form.

As a side note, I’m all for Ozil, but will he integrate the group of players? He’ll not likely fit in with the latins, not sure about the british contingent too…

  39. Owen

    August 5, 2010 at 10:35 pm

@NicoQB: But then also, Scholes kept us in the title chase by scoring against Shitty where as Berbaflop gifted the title to Chelsea by not scoring in a must win game against Blackburn.

  40. Grognard

    August 5, 2010 at 10:43 pm

@Owen: Christ mate you really build a mountain out of a molehill don’t you? That’s one frakken goal in a season of mediocrity. I have to say you please very easily.

  41. Red Ranter

    August 5, 2010 at 10:59 pm

    @Owen: And so have you.

  42. Owen

    August 5, 2010 at 11:01 pm

@Grognard: Then what the fuck Berbaflop did last season ?Mate check the history. You will find it surprising that never it happened before that a regular Man Utd striker did not score a single goal against any top 8 sides in the whole season. So for this record ,i congrats Berbaflop and i have full confidence that he will repeat his record this season also or may be better it by not scoring against top 10 sides.

New thread up. Surprise surprise. 🙂

  44. Grognard

    August 6, 2010 at 12:33 am

@Owen: Perhaps you mistook me for somebody who gives a fuck about Berba and what he did. Berba was a flop for us. What that has to do with you building up Scholes to be something he isn’t is beyond me? As far as I’m concerned, they both should be gone. Scholes and Berba should go and they should take Neville, EVDS, Smalling, Anderson, Carrick, Park, Welbeck, Diouf with them.

  45. PissedOffRed

    August 6, 2010 at 2:53 am

Scholes, RedNev, Giggs – they are all legends in my book.

SAF of the old would’ve let them off and shipped them to coaching camps and ambassadory-tasks 2 seasons ago & bedded in the new midfield engine by now.

Personally, I love the players (old boys) & the boss (old man). However, this situation with the club is pissing me off. Damn it. OFF WITH THE GLAZERS. Even the shit hole of a club called liverpool is on the verge of being sold off. This is sad.

It ain’t going to stop me watching this Sunday’s game tho. 😛

  46. Stephen

    August 6, 2010 at 8:44 am

@Grognard: Maybe we should give Smalling at least a chance or even a game eh?
