They’re only rumours but TalkSport are reporting Leighton Baines has asked his club to allow him to leave thus paving the way for his dream move to Old Trafford.
The Everton fullback has up until now kept completely silent and been praised for his conduct while United attempted to lure him away. But, as the windows-end looms ever larger, it appears Baines has lost patience and changed his tactics.
Since United had a ‘derisory’ joint bid of £28 million for both Baines and Fellaini rejected, it was believed United had turned their attention solely to Fellaini believing Baines to have stronger connections with the club and appearing less likely to engineer a move away.
This latest twist, if accurate, could see United chase down the pair with a second joint bid. It is yet unknown as to how much that bid would need to be in order for The Toffees to sell, but with both players now keen on making the deal happen and time running out in the window, United could capture the pair for a fee closer to their valuation rather than Everton’s.
Two good signings? How much is ‘too much’ to pay for the pair?
What about Patrice Evra’s future? He’s shown signs of improvement since his dip in form 2yrs ago and had a decent start to this season? Monaco bound perhaps or can Moyes accommodate them both for one season?
