RoundUp: Community Shield, VDS, Heinze, Tevez, Rhain Davis
Good Morning all. Forgive me if this isn’t the quality of Red Ranter, but I’m just doing my best to step in and provide the news for my fellow Man Utd. fans. Good win for the Red Devils yesterday at Wembley, and with both teams looking pretty good during the game, it looks like the upcoming season will be a good one. There’s a lot of news on the game to get to, so lets get things rolling.
David Pleat at The Guardian checks in with an interesting article on the fitness of both teams. I was quite surprised by the pace of the players on both sides to be honest. I didn’t expect them to be in bad shape, but with the time differences that both teams dealt with, they played a high paced game for most of the match, and made things entertaining.
Sir Alex Ferguson hailed his new United Squad after yesterday’s victory. He is quite right in saying that this was a big win for the team, especially since most of our new signings and others were not available to play in yesterday’s game. I for one am excited to see how Tevez, Anderson, Hargreaves, and Nani are worked into the fold, and if early indications are true, this looks to be a big season for the club.
Excellent job by Edwin Van Der Sar as he won the game for the Red Devils. Good for him, as he was blamed by many(I’m in this group) for the loss to Chelsea in the FA cup final in May. While it will be important for the players up top to score goals, it will be even more important for VDS to bounce back from an off year. As he is in the last year of his contract, and with young Ben Foster waiting in the wings, excellent play could lead to another contract elsewhere, if he isn’t back with Man Utd.
More news on Gabriel Heinze. Heinze is expected to be back in training today. SAF is hoping he shows up, but honestly, if he doesn’t then I say the forget about him. If he can’t respect the club enough to show up to training, then maybe he doesn’t need to be here any more. It pains me to say this because Heinze has always been a favorite of mine, but if this is what he wants, then let him have it. I hope he shows though, because he is important to this team.
The wait will soon be over. Carlos Tevez is expected to make his Manchester United debut Wednesday. United will send squads to both Ireland’s s Glentoran and Scottish side Dunfermline. Here’s hoping Rooney and Tevez are placed on the same squad, although, with Louis Saha and Ole Gunnar Solskjaker still out with injuries, this doesn’t seem likely. One can hope though, right?
And finally, I’ll leave you with a bit of fun for the day. This is a bit of old news, but Man Utd. has signed 9 year old wonder kid Rhain Davis. Let me just say that this kid is amazing, and hopefully will one day proudly wear a Red shirt at Old Trafford. Check this kid out!
That’s about it for me folks. Feel free to discuss, and tell me how I did. The season starts on Sunday. I’m excited, how about you?

Thanks for your work, mate:)
About Heinze, I believe he will show up. I read somewhere that he was going to behave like
a professional. Although I don’t think anybody will give him a harsh time.. I wonder how
the team will look at him.
The Rhain kid looks awesome, looks like a next Ronaldo. (I know we’ll have to wait)
Hope he’ll make an excellent Rain Maker someday.

I think you did great It’s just sucks that all the other guys are not posting any comments. I can’t wait for the season and to see Tevez play and Man Utd crash everybody.

Nice work. Keep it up.
Yeap, this is indeed an interesting season for MU. Hope Tevez can fit in nicely, with Nani (we’ve seen some of his skills already), Hargreaves and Anderson (guess he is the only 1 who i donno much bout).
Oh, and the Rhain kid is really good! Amazing!
This season, i expect Liverpool and maybe Spurs to challenge us. Chelsea is good, IF their injury problem can be solved. Arsenal, i don’t think so (no offence).

When it comes to predicting winners for the title this season, I think we need to factor in the fact that many of the African players will be leaving right after Christmas to play in the the African Nations Cup. Fortunately, Man Utd doesn’t have anybody who will have to go and Spurs and Liverpool won’t be losing very many impact players. However, Arsenal will be losing Adebayor, Eboue, and Toure, which means that their defense will be severely hampered. Chelsea will be losing Essien, Drogba, Kalou, and Mikel, which is even worse than Arsenal.

Counting Arsenal out is wrong. They’ve still got talent, and they have a great manager.

chelsea are gonna be in deep shit after christmas, how long is the african cup.

What’s taking so long for Tevez and Anderson to be ‘officially’ unveiled as United players (w/their jerseys and all)?? Been waiting to finally see Tevez in a United jersey and impatiently curious as to what numbers they (including Hargreaves) will wear
Only Nani’s been given a squad number. Even Ben Foster’s number isn’t confirmed yet.

Rhain Davis is good enough to suit up for Man City right now. Seriously though, the kid is amazing and is certainly influenced by Cristiano Ronaldo, so lets say thanks to Cris. As for the Charity, Community, Whatever, who gives a toss Shield, the match was a joke and really don’t know why it is played or hyped as a major event. Clearly the teams playing in it don’t care and it seems that they always field 50% of their starters. Convenient injuries always occur just before it. The game was oh so dull and really predictable. If I could have placed a bet just before the shootout I would have bet the farm on United to win.
Why? Because the great Petr Cech couldn’t save a penalty if his life depended on it. If you don’t beleive me check out his history. He is clueless at this aspect of goalkeeping. EVS on the other hand is pretty good at stopping penalties. Now if he would do all United supporters a big fave and stop even half of the half chances other teams get during matches, we would be unbeatable. Thanks for the shootout Eddie but clearly, you are past your prime and United need a quality keeper to match Arsenal and Chelski. I would love to see SAF sign
Polish born Celtic keeper Artur Boruc or German keeper Shea Hildebrand. Boruc is amazing, a real physical force with great reflexes. He reminds me a lot of Schmeichel. Hildebrand has great reflexes as well and is outstanding at cutting off angles and corners. He is currently in Spain but is in a fight for a first team place because the fans and coach love Canizares. I have seen Boruc play many times but if you really want to see how great he is find a recording of Poland’s game against Germany at the last World Cup. He was awesome.

will tevez play 4 man utd 2morrow against 1 of the teams?
August 7th, 2007 at 22:10
Actually yeah Grognard Boruc would be a good signing the thing is I’d never hear the end of with my whole family being Celtic fans and kind of worship Boruc.

dynasty developing at OT again, Thanks to Fergie … Players come and go,
but a great manager sticks by what he knows is true. 3 cheers to SAF and the Malcomes
