Roundup: Saha’s Enlightenment, Nutty Takeover Bids, The Portugeezers’ Romp and More

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 11:00

Morning all. Yes, the daily roundup is back! Let’s get it quickly out of the way. So without any meaningless banter from my side, here goes.

Louis Saha feels very happy about his goal, and affirms his commitment to the team. He also says that he is now completely aware about how not to get injured. We must appreciate him for his realization. It’s taken him awhile but it sure is welcoming. Although, his reasoning seems a little odd:

“I know exactly how not to get injured,” stated Saha.”All I have to do is play without full commitment. But I won’t do it, I can’t do it.

WTF? So does that mean he was not committed to us all this while he was injured? Oh well, he’s realized things, so we hope his new found knowledge about his body anatomy will fetch us more goals.

The Glazer’s for the 976th time since the season began have denied another takeover bid for the club. While the amount of 1.5 bn allegedly offered for the club might seem outrageous, it is certainly in keeping with the value of the club. Personally, we’ve had enough uncertainty to deal with already with the Glazer takeover. Many of us are still cautious about the Glazer business model. We just can’t take another bid from another money hungry group. It would be too tiring and I’m sure we all agree we’d rather talk football instead of writing pages about takeover bids and its financial implications. Thankfully, for the moment at least, the Glazers have resisted the temptation, if there was a bid in the first place.

Finally, Ronaldo, Anderson and Nani were involved in an ‘orgy’. I don’t know why I am even talking about this, because after all, it is a part of their own personal life. And Ahmed has covered it in much detail, like an excited teen with his first porno tape. (Kidding!) But more often than not, it is the party lifestyle that sometimes incurs Ferguson’s wrath. We have seen certain Old Trafford careers cut short by some flashy lifestyle. Fergie is sensitive to these matters, especially if they come out in the open. As a boss, he would want to shield the young players from the spotlight – and negative publicity – that this has surely brought about by the media. They will be portrayed as some sort of immoral villains, all for more sales.

Anyway, all I have to say about it is this: Ronaldo, Anderson and Nani, it’s good you lads are having fun and enjoying life in England. So long as you deliver we wouldn’t have a problem, even if you skinny dip with horses and zebras.

Anyway, that’s it for the day. Allow me to head off to bed and rejoice in the Labor Day, here in the US. Not that I am getting any time off work.

I assumed that Saha was meaning that if he plays at 90% intensity then he is able to stay injury free, it is only when he pushes himself that he picks up injuries. He then went on to say that it is impossible to play for United without playing at your peak, meaning that he HAS to play at the level that leads to occasional (or not so in his case) injuries – especially soft tissue injuries.

Saha’s comment really amused me haha. I thought it was kinda contradictive. Anyway its good that he knows you’ve to give everything when you play for united. But, unfortunately his injuries keep coming into the way.

Its good to see anderson and nani adapting to ‘life’ with cristiano! :p the media said nani has an odd shaped dinky! Haha!

hope to see more of anderson in the coming weeks. He definetly has potential and maturity so its just a matter of time till he adapts to the fast tempo. Still, his work rate and determination is very encouraging.

Saha is saying that, There is always the risk for an injury, “BUT”
he is going to risk it and give his 100% for UNITED.

This comment makes sense because it’s coming from an injury prone player.
Who had several long term injuries, which threatned his career.

Long term injuries can mentally cripple athletes.
When you have such a long injury, you start to wonder if you’ll ever play good football again,
And when you step on the field you’re scared that this time you’ll get a carrer ending injury.
Saha was going through this as well, but came back. :)

Anyway this reminds me of the brazilian Ronaldo. I was devastated during his injury, and
    yet he came back.

the amount of times man u have had bids is getting ridiculous, the glazers must be up to something, anyways, the orgy is not a good thing at all for united, especially nani and anderson, because it gives people the wrong impression of them, and the media a new set of people to follow to see if hey get up to any more monkey business, but red ranter is right, we shouldnt care what they do in the personal life as long as they preform on the pitch

I think you have misunderstood what Saha has meant here. If he plays with full commitment he is always likely to pick up an injury. Maybe some players are made of glass, but if I were Fergie, I’d be getting in the best medical experts in to teach Saha how to play at 100% whilst not picking up an injury otherwise we should get him replaced.

Actually I got his point. I intended to make a little tongue in cheek remark. Never mind. His situation is a little Catch-22ish. But it is a part of the package, and we have to bear with it. It’s the best we’ve got.

I agree with you on your views about the Ronaldo Orgy Affair as these actions should be nobody’s business but the players involved in the sexual festivities. However, these were not CEO’s of a large corporation having fun during a business trip. They are professional footballers who’s every move and breath is closely scrutinized by the not so adoring and highly intrusive media. Not only should they have known better, but they have a moral and ethical standard that they need to stick to for the sake of their careers at OT. As well they should not forget that they are very significant high profile role models for young people, whether they like it or not.

I for one would have loved to have been invited to the pool party so perhaps I’m just a bit bitter, but my first concern is United. Fergie is an old fogie when it comes to these kinds of things and his tolerance level for this kind of behavior is ZERO. I’m honestly afraid that Ronaldo may have booked his ticket out of Old Trafford with this incident. Perhaps I am overly dramatic but David Beckham was in Fergie’s doghouse because of a lifestyle and marriage that was less than acceptable to SAF. And hell, the man was married with children. I’m sure the man doesn’t expect players to live like saints, but he is not going to condone behavior that is detrimental to the image of the club and to his standing as manager.

This little mess will probably just go away with time but the media of late, has a very hard time forgetting about stories that can damage celebrities. So what this negative attention does to Ronaldo and to a lesser extent, Anderson and Nani concerns me. Most of all, I hope SAF doesn’t lose too much respect for Ronny. He is still a young lad who made a mistake (only because he got caught). I will absolutely die if I start reading rumors of a possible transfer of Ronny to Real Madrid in the upcoming months. Stranger things have happened. I suppose we should be thankful that this event happened far enough away for Ronny to avoid the boot being kicked at his head.

did you guys see the video one of the girls made? it looks like nani passed out on the floor with someone trying to get him up speaking in Portuguese but their face was blacked out.

Christ I’ve seen it all now, the escorts complaining about the players been mean and not tipping. Good to see the service industry in the UK isn’t letting its standards slip!

Grognard: I doubt there will be any long term consequences from this, although Ronaldo wouldn’t want to make a habit of it. Still I wouldn’t have fancied being in SAF’s office for that particular chat. I think his problem with Beckham was 4/5 years of continuous media whoring rather than any single incident. As role models though they have taught everyone a valuable lesson, if you don’t tip there may be consequences!

Yeah I think in the grand scheme of things it is better Ronaldo fools around with call girls than end up with a pushy, celebrity hungry wife like Becks. And maybe the girls will keep Ronaldo in England

I hope you are right JB. I just have this feeling about Fergie that he is a bit intolerant of stuff like this. Still, he has defended Ronaldo in the past and acted almost like a parent. This means that he does care about the lad and that he will scolds him and move on. Footballers really need to learn the meaning of the word DIGRESSION. Calling an escort agency was just about as stupid as you can get. What I would have given to see a video of Fergie confronting Ronaldo over this sexcapade. Flying boots and blow dryers everywhere…WOW!!!!

we need to start scoring 2-3 goals a match, look at liverpool now, i would say they have the best chance of winning the title ri right know, i think we needed 1 more player in the transfer window a decen cover for ronaldo, and also rooney.

  19. JB says:

Dan: it’s easy to say we needed decent cover for Ronaldo/Rooney in the window, it’s quite another thing to actually find and get said player.

Grognard: I’ve no doubt that SAF is intolerant of such things but if it was a one off I would expect nothing more than a severe dressing down for the players (apologies for the pun). Maybe they thought the women from an agency would be more discrete than some women they pulled in a club, but that’s assuming a very high moral code in the escort industry!
