Scholes desperately rolling back the years as United sink QPR

Manchester United opened an eight-point gap at the top of the table following a 2-0 win against 10-man QPR, as Manchester City’s title hopes were dealt a huge blow after they were defeated at Arsenal.

United benefited of a good amount of luck as referee Lee Mason awarded a penalty with the game only 14 minutes old as Ashley Young and Shaun Derry collided in the box.

Rooney puts United on top

Wayne Rooney scored his 29th goal of the season, as Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 to move three points clear of City at the top of the Premier League.

The United number 10 was quick to convert one of United best chances of the first half, as Jonny Evans headed an Ashley Young’s cross back into Rooney’s path.

The result sees United moving three points clear of City but United were made to sweat for the result, as Fulham saw their appeals for a penalty waived away minutes from time after Danny Murphy was challenged in the box by Michael Carrick.

A Wayne Rooney brace secured three points for Manchester United against West Bromwich Albion and sent Fergie’s men top of the league as City conceded defeat at Swansea.

United went into the game knowing that they had to put Thursday’s dismal performance behind them and, more importantly, keep the pressure on their neighbours.
