Old Trafford Swan Song for the Greatest Football Manager in History

Tag: bwin @ 9:47 am

Sir AlexWith nothing to play for in terms of prizes today, United welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford in what could turn out to be an entertaining game between two sides who play the game the right way, the attacking way.

The game however is merely the under card to what will be some of the most emotional scenes ever witnessed inside Old Trafford.

United will officially be crowned Champions of England for the TWENTIETH time with a trophy ceremony after the game before even that takes backstage as United and its fans begin to say farewell to the man who made all this possible, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Phil Jones, Jurgen Klopp and a visit from Chelsea

Tag: bwin,Manchester United @ 7:55 am

scholes_2341506bUnited will be without Danny Welbeck for today’s Premier League match against Chelsea as the striker has not recovered from a knee injury. Midfielder Paul Scholes is expected to return to the squad after a near four-month absence with a knee injury.

United fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing Chelsea perform a guard of honour. Will Chelsea have the class to show such respect?

With the result immaterial for United the only thing they have to play for is pride and Sir Alex admitted last weekend that it’s difficult not to drop off the pace under these circumstances but he’ll doubtless be urging his team to help him put one over The Spanish Waiter one last time before he leaves for pastures new.

Manchester United visit the Hammers

Tag: bwin,Match Preview @ 5:20 pm

robin-van-persie-manchester-united-west-ham-fa-cup-celebration-620x350For both teams competing tonight, the season has petered out somewhat in recent weeks. West Ham are luxuriating in the comfort of mid table, neither worrying by relegation nor threatening a late assault on the European places. Whilst this winding down has been a massive positive for West Ham fans, it has been anti-climatic for Manchester United’s, after crashing out of two cup competitions and having sewn up the title weeks ago. Now the aim is to create a dazzling title procession, but will this be enough motivation to defeat a solid West Ham side?

All eyes on Manchester as United try to seal Premier League title

Wayne RooneyPre-season, this derby was billed as the season defining game for both teams. The title race would be so close again that only a gnat’s breath would be able to separate them.

However, never have football ‘experts’ been so wrong. City have stumbled whilst United have stepped up and obliterated the rest. But, as with all derbies, this doesn’t mean the fans care less about this edition of the Manchester derby. Both sets of supporters are still desperate for the sweet elixir of victory.

Chelsea v United: FA Cup Preview and a free bet

Tag: bwin,FA Cup,Match Preview @ 11:02 am

Chelsea FA Cup Old Trafford 2013After becoming the first team in history to win 25 of their first 30 Premier League fixtures on Saturday; United turn their attention to an FA Cup Quarter Final replay at Stamford Bridge.

In 12 meetings between the two sides since 1908 United boast an impressive record against The Blues (Won 8, Drawn 2, Lost 2) and won on their last two trips there in 98 & 99, the latter being a memorable replay after the sides drew at Old Trafford. United went on to win the treble that year and although that feat is now impossible for the Reds to duplicate, it seems there’s a real desire to add another League and Cup double both from the club and the terraces.

Both Benitez and Ferguson need this trophy for differing reasons and Robin van Persie believes the fans shouldn’t expect a classic thanks to both teams playing just 48hrs before kickoff, maybe that’s why the betting is neck-and-neck. Bwin are offering a free bet to all RedRants readers here.

Double your Cheltenham winnings on United?

Tag: bwin @ 10:54 pm

CarrickboyWhat a week or so it’s been. First the shocking dismissal of Nani and the heartache of breaking down against a Mourihno inspired Real Madrid, then the agonisingly painful second half capitulation versus Chelsea which now means Easter Monday will be spent beating them rather than getting some much needed rest for the boys, then Carrickboy goes and wins at 50/1 during the Cheltenham Festival! I hope you were all on it like faithful Reds……I know I wasn’t unfortunately!

Normal business I hope will resume tomorrow and United should have a chance to blow any lingering memories of their most recent two games with a juggernaut-like rollering of relegation threatened Reading who make the trip to Old Trafford without the man who got them into the top flight just 9 months ago and won January’s Manager of the Month. Some decisions are just too bizarre for words.

Where’s the value in the betting for tomorrow? Let’s take a look……and help ourselves to a free bet while we’re at it.

United set their sights on Wembley

Tag: bwin,FA Cup,Match Preview @ 10:05 am

Wembley Stadium 2012United continued their astonishing run of drawing Premier League opposition in the FA Cup when they drew Chelsea in the 6th Round last month. I’m not sure of the facts exactly but I know it’s something like 23 out of the last 28 draws we’ve faced Premier League opposition.

United are currently bwin’s 2nd favourites for this season’s competition which (for us) kicked off with a trip to Upton Park to face West Ham in the 3rd Round which took a last minute pearler from then in-form Robin van Persie to secure a replay at Old Trafford a fortnight later where United progressed comfortably.

In Rounds 4 and 5 United faced Fulham and Reading at home and again progressed comfortably into the next round. Tomorrow however sees a tougher test as a wounded United take on Rafa Benitez’s Chelsea in the final round of ties to be played outside Wembley.
