It’s that time of the year again. Just a day away from the Roma game. The Romans will have some scores to settle. And it is highly likely they will begin their mind games, looking to score some points, prior to the game, in order to make up for the hiding of last season.
So is the Roman revenge going to be successful? Will Totti terrorize Rio and Co? Stay tuned for the preview of the Man Utd-Roma clash same time, same place, tomorrow, here on your favourite blog! Till then, though, let’s go ahead and get done with the customary roundup of the day.

Some injury news today. Call it good or bad, Mikael Silvestre, who was earlier ruled out for the entire season, could now make a comeback as early as March next year. Fergie says that his operation went well in France and things aren’t as bad as it was thought to be.
Meanwhile skipper, Gary Neville would still take longer to get back into action. Credit should be given to Wes Brown who, despite certain sections of fans thinking him to be poor, has been a very good cover for the captain.

A very good morning/afternoon/evening. If you are indeed up in the morning/afternoon/evening, that is. Saturday is not especially a day that witnesses very many early risers. But when there is some football, there will be good enough reason to wake up and look forward to the day.
We aren’t playing on Saturday, which is the downer. But again, it’s the extra day we get and all that, so all’s well. Anyway, now that I have filled some space with irrelevant stuff, I can move on to actual news.

Not too much to gush about this morning. Although, by the time this post comes up there may be gushable things to gush about. Regular readers may have realized that the post is usually not written early in the morning, thanks to the timezone yours truly lives in. So gushing capabilities are limited to whatever is hot and worth gushing about at that moment of writing.
So enough with the gushing then.

I’m sure you’ve seen Patrice Evra caught out of position and Nemanja Vidic going across and covering for him, thus bailing Manchester United out of yet another sticky situation?
That’s what’s happening today - except that the Red Ranter is Evra, yours truly is Vida and RedRants.com is Manchester United.
At least the last one makes sense
Anyway, on with today’s Manchester United news - we’re still winning (although the opposition this season has been nothing short of tremendous) but it’s Sporting Lisbon tomorrow and while RR will do the needful preview (or Vida will cover for him again) in the morning, here’s a snapshot of what happening in the Manchester United world.

As we pull on through another slow day let’s heave a deep sigh of relief that no one’s injured on their international duty.
*Heaves sigh of relief*
Oh, I almost forgot, Captain Fletch limped off with a calf injury in Scotland’s 1-0 win over much fancied France. Of course, I’d prefer to look at the bright side - Evra was an unused sub. And, John O’Shea was also taken off presumably due to a knee injury while playing for Ireland vs Czech Republic. He was replaced by Stephen Cunt Hunt.
I guess the sighs of relief was a little premature.
Alright! Now onto some news, if you can call it that…

Not much today. At least that’s what it was at the time of writing this. Highly doubt things would be much different. But whatever we have to talk about today is mostly positive stuff, depending on how you look at it.
Today’s topic is only about injuries. While the second leg of international games is to be held on Wednesday, before we really get to know which players have picked up knocks, we have a couple of players who are certainly not playing them.

I don’t remember the last time we had so many interesting quotes from Fergie in such a short period of time.
The most interesting one, undoubtedly, is his admission that the sale of Stam was a mistake. For a man who still thinks Veron was a good buy, this is something. Jaap Stam was a quality center half and his sale to Lazio for a handsome 16.5 million led to a poor season.
Of course, the sale of Stam was due to a more familiar situation than the ‘offer too good to refuse’ reason given by SAF. Stam’s autobiography didn’t have too many good things to say about Fergie, and that would have been enough to see him out. Stam did say after being sold that his sale was a ‘big mistake’. Surely the players that came in, viz., Veron and Blanc did not particularly set the stage on fire.

Morning. A very quiet day it is indeed.
Really grasping at straws as far as news goes. The long international break adds to the frustration as far as club football goes. Although, from our club’s point of view, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Saha’s got 45 minutes under his belt. Thankfully, as things stand now, Raymond Domenech hasn’t called him for international duty. (Ssshh, don’t tell him that he’s fit.) Enough time for him to play some reserve games and make himself ready. Ronaldo, after coming back from his Portugal commitments would be hungry to prove a point or two.
Anyway, about today, it is really quiet and I’ll see what I can talk about.
