Scholes Article. Rio Ferdinand. Rooney Video

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:00

One more day before the lads march onto the Luzhniki stadium. Strangely I am not yet all that excited. Well, I am, but I’m not crapping my pants as much as I did prior to the second leg semi against Barcelona.

It is our biggest night since ‘99, I know. But, perhaps, the moment and the magnitude of the occasion might get to me tomorrow? Maybe it’s because we’ve already won the league? I don’t know. But I find myself surprisingly calm.

Monday Waffle

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 20:50

Hope Monday’s treating you all well. It’s not a day usually known for its kindness, but hey, who’s stopping you from hoping.

Quiet day otherwise and very little by way of United related news or transfer gossip for that matter.

Pique, Platini, Ronaldo and Moscow Rumblings

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 22:00

Late, late post today but I was out late the night before which meant waking up late in the morning. But better late than never, so here’s the roundup for the day.

Some Love For Saha | Ole on Current Squad | Tevez

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:10

A very good morning to you all. Assuming you did manage to wake up on a Saturday morning, sober enough to read this.

As the days draw ever so close to the Champions’ League final, news comes from Moscow as police from the Russian capital outline their plans for tackling fan violence.

It’s good to see that local police are taking steps for the fans’ safety, but the ban on public drinking and the absence of outdoor TV screens will not sit too kindly with the travelling folk. That said, the club has clearly warned United fans against travelling to Moscow if they had no ticket.

Random Transfer News Items of the Day

Silly season has begun even though our season’s not over yet. But we will be beset with the task of dealing with quite a few rubbish — and some not so rubbish — rumours throughout the next three months. So we will try all summer to weed out the nonsense bits and give you the ones that are probably true. Or perhaps, we will talk about the nonsense bits too because otherwise we won’t have anything to talk about.

Thank God for the Euros. That way we can decide to support one team and immediately change allegiances after a shocking performance of said team.

Don’t worry, we’ll work something out to keep this blog going, so that you don’t have to resort to watching paint dry (or your hair grow — whatever suits you).

Grant talks nonsense, Excellent Brian McClair interview, SAF on Bolton

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:00

One more day to go before D-day while you notice everything near you getting whipped into a frenzy; the people at Sky will scream themselves hoarse with their ‘Super Duper Ultimate Blockbuster Sunday’.

And in the lead up to that you will have players, managers and anyone with a half-arsed opinion — that includes yours truly — say something about the title race. But for some strange reason everyone’s been harping in unison about Wigan Athletic rolling over for United. Wigan’s, and more importantly Steve Bruce’s, integrity has been questioned by almost everyone. And the Chelsea machine itself has left no stone unturned to make this clear to everyone that there is some major conspiracy in the making — that Wigan will just bend over for United.

Last day finishes, lawnmowergate, trouble at the JJB… and other tales

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:10

It’s that day of the week again; the day you’d almost feel holiday-like but for the eight hour shift you’d have to put in before letting your hair down. Then again, as they say, thank God it’s Friday!

It’s been a hell of a week for me though, and I’m sure, for most Reds. I’ve not been quite as nervous for a whole week. I’m sure — although I hope not — the players would also be a bit nervous. Wigan have been comprehensively beaten by United almost always. But Steve Bruce’s side now have drawn Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Slow Monday Roundup

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:00

Well, not really a round up. I have my hands full, so I’ll be off the blog today. I’ll pop in once in a while just to ensure you behave nice.

However feel free to discuss whatever pops in your mind. Today Chelsea visit Newcastle and they haven’t won at St James’ Park since 2001, which is a strange statistic to be honest. A loss would virtually guarantee us the title on goal difference. Let’s hope Keegan does us a favour.

Meanwhile the Sun reported that Nani could be fined two-weeks wages for the incident. It was clear from Fergie’s post match comments that he wasn’t impressed by Nani’s antics the least bit. An old-fashioned bollocking would have surely been in order, but one would hope that only good can come of this. It’s a good opportunity for the young Portuguese star to have a good look at himself and work on improving his attitude. And at this juncture it’s come at a much better time than, perhaps, a few games ago.

Anyway, I’m done with this for the day. Will get back tomorrow with more worthwhile stuff to talk about, I assure you.

Over to you…

Links of the Day

With it being Friday, and me having to wrap up quite a bit of work for the week, I’ll take a break from the blog for the day. But not before I link you to some interesting articles and news bits to keep you clicking and discussing. Also feel free to link to other articles that interest you — on United, of course. Although interesting football related stuff can also be linked to.

Worry over Rooney and Vida | Evra’s Abuse | Curbs Plans Weak Squad

Tag: Daily RoundupRed Ranter @ 10:00

Small Monday roundup for you all.

The official site has still been cagey about the Rooney and Vidic situation. The Sun claims that Rooney is only 30% fit. But then, only the Sun is capable of zeroing in on such a percentage.
