Roma vs Man Utd: Preview

Tag: Game PreviewRed Ranter @ 13:41

There may not be enough time for me to do a Roma preview tomorrow so I’d rather do it today.

For the discerning ones, who are curious to know the reason behind my reduced involvement in the affairs of this blog, let me assure you that things will be back to normal for sure. The first two weeks of December was always going to be an exceptionally busy period in my life and this mad couple of weeks would end on the 15th for me; after which things will return to the usual. That I could find time to post in spite of all this was a miracle, if you ask me. (Thanks, of course, to Ahmed who chipped in.)

Anyway, on to the preview…

Man Utd vs Derby County: Preview

It’s been quite a week for me, so it should come as some sort of relief to be back finally. Much thanks to Ahmed for chipping in as usual and preventing the site from rotting away. Of course, a more than cursory nod is in order for the readers who kept dropping by while participating in the banter in the comments thread. Needless to say, you people form the other half of this site — the better half, that is.

Anyway, onto the game and we face Derby County today — a club that could easily be termed as among the worst ones to have ever played in the Premiership. Bookmakers, fans and pundits alike predict a goal fest. The manager also expects more goals from the side - expecting the players to show a much more ruthless streak in front of goal.

We face Fulham in a late kick off on a Monday. I know, it can be frustrating if your team is not playing in the weekend. But that’s the way it is, and with the extra day that the lads got to rest you have to think that it should serve them well.

Manchester United vs Sporting Lisbon: point to prove for Fergie

Tag: Game PreviewAhmed Bilal @ 15:37

A quick one today, as the Red Ranter has gone to save the world from various evils while I’m too hungover stoned to care whether Saha will re-injure himself tonight or not.

So, the highlights:

Bolton vs Man Utd: Preview

The international break is over, and will not return for a while now (as I complete my run around my room like a lunatic), and we very quickly cut to the match today. Man Utd take on Bolton Wanderers, who are now playing under new manager Gary Megson.

The Trotters have been unbeaten under their new manager and even managed a draw against mighty Bayern Munich who, as we know, are no mugs.

Man Utd 2-0 Blackburn: FT

Hit by, what we have now come to learn as, a ‘freak injury’ to Wayne Rooney, we take on a very good Blackburn side who are riding a wave of success. Sparky’s team have done a very good job nicking points off three of the big four and would hope to continue their habit of giant killing this season. And they have done it by playing some good football too. Their reputation as a ‘dirty team’ has been unfair on them as Hughes has plenty of creativity in his side — thanks to some judicious forays into the transfer market this summer.

Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern has been a good buy, while Christopher Samba has been rock solid in defence.

United Stroll Past Kyiv; They Also Hit Four Goals

Tag: Game PreviewRed Ranter @ 10:03

Here’s a post that has now become irrelevant given its delay in appearing earlier. Plenty has already been said about it but I will do the needful and get the report out of the way. But honestly, it won’t be too long drawn.

United played Dynamo Kyiv (Kiev, depending on which broadsheet you have been reading) at home needing a win, and a favour from Roma to ensure qualification to the next round of the Champions’ League. There was enormous optimism prior to this game (or, should we say, arrogance?) going by the prediction of this blogger in the preview.

As expected we brushed aside the team in what turned out rather ridiculous and questioned the very essence of the Champions’ League; especially Platini’s earlier plans of getting more East European sides into the competition.

Man Utd vs Dynamo Kyiv: Preview

I will keep this post short. I really have to. It’s been a tight little day, work-wise, although that shouldn’t prevent me from watching the match today.

Anyway, let’s quickly go over the preview of today’s game and some other random bits and bobs worth pondering about.

Arsenal vs Man Utd: Preview

A very good morning to you all, depending on where you are reading this from. Today, Arsenal host Man Utd at the Emirates Stadium in a lunch time kick off. I know, this lunch time thing is not quite so popular with many fans in the UK. But again, with a game like this there wouldn’t be too many complaints. The atmosphere would be as intense as it has always been.

Then again, depending on which part of the world you are the timing would be either perfect or would be downright uncomfortable.

We stop digressing and move on to the main topic of the day, which is Football Manager 2008 the Arsenal game.

Man Utd 4-1 Middlesbrough

Tag: Game PreviewRed Ranter @ 10:10

So our boys play host to Middlesbrough on the back of, what has been, a free scoring run in the past three games. We have put 4 past three teams, consecutively, and if we do repeat that today, we would be smashing a 100 year old record for scoring 4 goals in each of 4 matches.

It certainly would be a handy record, but that would be the least of the priorities when the lads step on the pitch.
