Following the midweek international break Manchester United are back in action against a lowly Wigan Athletic side who make the short trip to Old Trafford, with Latics boss Roberto Martinez hoping to spring a shock on Saturday after a poor United performance against Aston Villa last weekend.
They will have a mountain to climb though as United have won all 11 of their previous games against Wigan – ten Premier League matches and the 2006 League Cup final.

We’ve still got almost a month and a half before the January transfer period opens, but it appears that United are already wrapping up a little winter business well before the window opens.
According to the Guardian, we’re closing in on a deal for Danish keeper Anders Lindegaard, who hails from Norwegian side Aalesunds FK.
As per their reports, we’ve provisionally agreed terms for the 26-year-old, and an official announcement is expected to happen within the next couple of days.

A quick news round up of things going on at Old Trafford.
One burning question that will need answered sooner rather than later is that of Sir Alex Ferguson and when he will retire from Manchester United.
Speculation has been rife for a number of years that his time at Old Trafford will soon end, but the fiery Scot doesn’t have any intention to retire just yet, telling reporters “I’m in no mood for retirement. As long as my health is good I intend to carry on.

A last gasp win over Wolves and a dour draw against Manchester City. It seems Manchester United are not quite hitting top gear, but the only undefeated team in the country will be looking for a performance against Aston Villa at Villa Park that is as impressive as the statistics surrounding the match.
United have lost only one of the last 29 league meetings with Villa and the hosts have won only once in 27 games in all competitions. Those stats point to a clear United victory.

Still unbeaten in the Premier League and three points ahead of their city rivals, Manchester United take a trip to Eastlands to play Manchester City in what will be a crunch match for both teams, and arguably the biggest derby in recent memory given City’s upturn in fortunes.
Much has been said over the last few days from both camps in the lead up to tonight’s game, but talking is one thing, doing the business on the pitch in something entirely different.

Manchester United face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford for the second time in recent weeks and after the victory in the Carling Cup it would seem a victory should be on the cards as a more experienced United side will line up against Wolves.
Anderson, Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson and Federico Macheda are all out with a virus that has not made life easy for Sir Alex Ferguson. Joining the aforementioned foursome on the sidelines will be Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Nani plus Darren Fletcher is a doubt.

A lot of focus over past weeks has been on the transfer policy at Manchester United and whether or not they will spend millions to improve a squad that some say – Wayne Rooney – is not good enough to compete for major honours.

After a few weeks of turmoil it seems that Old Trafford is in a relative state of calm, if it can ever be in such s state. Over the last week we have seen a controversial goal, a new hero emerge and the exponential rise of a former homeless footballer. How time flies.
In what is a rather slow news day, Nani has hit the headlines once more but this time his comments are far less controversial than his goal against Tottenham. The Portuguese winger has come out to the press and has told of his desire to be the world’s best,

We are nearing the business end of the Champions League and the fourth round of the group stage upon us with Manchester United facing a tricky trip to Turkey to face Turkish champions and current league leaders Bursaspor.
Currently in Group C the Turks have zero points, have conceded six goals and scored none, the only side in the Champions League not to have found the back of the net. So you would think United should take three points from the game easily enough, but even in the home match against them, United made hard work of Ertugrul Saglam’s side, coming away with only a one-nil win.
