Update 3: The Beeb’s got this report. According to that Kia Joorabchian’s lawyers say, the deal has progressed with the “knowledge and permission” of West Ham United. Wonder what will happen now. Expect the deal to take a while.
Update 2: Eggert Magnussen has now opened his mouth. Wants Tevez to spend his next three years with the Hammers. Pah!
Update: Sky Sports seem to have confirmed it. It’s a two year loan!
We were talking about not believing the Tevez rumours until they came from the horse’s mouth. Now we think that the horse has indeed spoken (or umm… neighed?).
Anyway, we found this link [via UnitedRant forums] which has the headline saying Reds Announce Tevez Capture, but no content.

More reports are pouring in. They are all over the place. And now, it’s the BBC’s turn..
BBC’s Radio Five Live Sport thinks a deal could be done by the weekend. Nice. Really, nice. For those living under a rock (or sleeping, or plain stoned), for the past few hours, please read this.

Reports are just coming in and looks like Manchester United have signed Carlos Tevez.
The Times carries this report.
Happiness, overflows as I write this, but how certain are we about this deal? Read on.

The answer is very simple really.
Manutd.com carries a report where Heinze says that he would deliberate about a move to another club. But the club needs to really, really convince him that the move would be right for him.

It’s become a fad now. Everyone wants to link us to strikers. And it’s not just the media. Players take enormous pride either by announcing that United are interested in them, or by saying they ‘rejected’ overtures from the club.
While the barrage of rumors linking Arsenal with any player (to have clocked even 5 minutes on the pitch as a striker) is justified by the departure of Henry, only Torres has been linked with Liverpool. We, on the other hand, have strikers aplenty on our books when our forward line is relatively settled. And for those people who talk a lot about our apparent lack of a reliably deadly finisher, let me assure you that we can comfortably get through next season, while managing to contend for all four trophies till the very end. While I am not saying we will win all four, we will be in contention for each of those four trophies till late in the competition.
So dear players and media, go pick on another club.

We’ll all talked about how Manchester United a reliable striker in the Berbatov mold to help us win the Champions League. And if you’ve been reading RedRants, we’ve also talked a lot about why Tevez would be as good, if not better, for United.
But what about Carlitos Tevez? How come no one has come out and talked about what would be best for the player?
So here are 5 top reasons why Carlos Tevez moving to Manchester United will be the BEST possible thing for his footballing career:

Monday morning blues is upon us. So let’s pick up from what transpired on Sunday.
Sunday news was awash with reports of United agreeing on a deal for Smith, ermm… this time with Middlesbrough. In fact, some headlines go as far as to say that they have won the ‘race’ to sign him. The same ones who claimed the other day that Newcastle had won the race to sign him and to a lesser extent that Portsmouth were likely to buy him.

It has been a very quiet weekend with nothing really substantial going on in the transfer market. Not that we are really in any sort of hurry. But sometimes we wish for something to happen so that we feel that our club is indeed alive and kicking. Oh well, I guess everyone needs the weekend to relax.
But there has been some news items that I would deem utter tosh. And since there isn’t anything else we present you two of the absurd ones encountered. Amuse yourselves.

First it was Quagliarella (Q) saying that United were after him and had placed a 10m bid for him.
Bogus, because United are either buying experience (Hargreaves) or for the future (Nani, Anderson) and Q at 23 is neither and because United already have youth where strikers are concerned so I’d figure that they would go for someone more experienced, IF they go for anyone. Q doesn’t have Prem experience nor does he have CL experience.
And now Q’s agent, SP, says that there has been no contact made by United with Q, SP or Sampdoria.
