There are a some more bits of news that wasn’t talked about in the last post but well, I am not going to be covering everything in this post too, and a few more posts may even follow after this.
As some regular readers may have noticed, our daily “Man Utd Headlines of the Day” post isn’t quite daily enough. I think it has more to do with the rather bad post headline it creates, especially if you want to dig through our archives. So while we will still continue to cover club related news daily, the Headlines of the Day type of a post title will be used less often.
Anyway. Back to the news.

Things have quietened down understandably these days. After all the mayhem those three quick signings created. All that remained of Sunday’s news are reports that renew rumours linking Anelka to United. It’s a Sunday after all, and even your average tabloid reporter needs a day off. We had our opinions on Anelka, and we also thank you guys for your comments. Do keep them coming. Makes us writers here feel less lonely about what we think and write!
Today we will talk about another striker linked to the club. Once again, we aren’t saying if he will come to OT, but just musing on how he will fit into our scheme of things.

Louis Saha’s injury problems in the second half of the season caused many Manchester United fans (and the press) to do a complete backflip in their opinion of the striker. Where Saha was once thought to be better for Manchester United than Ruud van Nistelrooy, the moment Saha got injured and took a long time to recover the fans turned on him, questioning his dedication and his value to Manchester United.

The case for ‘Heinze’ leaving is made as such: he’s wanted to leave for a long time, he’s Argentinian so he’s better suited to the Italian / Spanish leagues, his first-team spot has been taken by Patrice Evra, he wants to play center-back, he wants a new challenge, he makes too many mistakes, he’s not good going forward…have I missed anything?

The BBC’s brought up this breaking news when I saw it confirming the expected.
Owen Hargreaves has confirmed his move to Old Trafford after having passed his medical and having agreed personal terms. He will arrive in July 1 and has to only sign the contract which is reported to be a five year deal.
Alright, finally! Now breathe easy.
Ed: Someone tell Ferguson that the transfer deadline is 31st August, not 31st May…
I’ve already written a bit about the Nani / Anderson moves on SL, but I thought I’d drop in here and add more to the story.

These are two players in the news these days that have transfer rumours concerning United. Both of them have been under long time speculation. One is linked with a move away and one is linked with a move to United.
Let’s take a look at the players and how likely their departures/arrivals may be to United.

Just when you think that the Beeb is playing it straight with you, they throw you a wicked curveball that throws you off-balance. A friendly reminder that you can’t trust anyone in football.
With shades of TribalFootball and Daily Mail, BBC Sport starts off with a statement that reads:
Manchester United are considering an £8m summer transfer bid for Hearts and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, BBC Sport understands.
And after a brief mention about Martin O’Neill watching the Hearts-Kilmarnock game and scouting players, it breaks into a re-hashing of old material.

Reports coming out of Germany suggest that Bayern Munich had agreed a 17m deal with Manchester United for Owen Hargreaves and now all that remains to be done is for the player to agree to a 4-year contract.
You can expect both parties to stay quiet about it until it’s done, but a few things about the timing make sense.

This new ‘development’ has been gnawing away at my brain for the past day and a half. So let’s get rid of it right away once and for all.
Apparently, going by some papers, Nani has penned a new contract that will see him at Sporting Lisbon till 2013 with his get out clause now raised to around £20 million from the earlier £7 million.
