Some More Thoughts Ahead of the Scouse Trip

Tag: Opinions/ColumnsRed Ranter @ 10:05

Aaah! My head hurts! But it’s good to be back, nonetheless.

Ahmed shared some thoughts on how to beat Liverpool. Of course, it attracted some hyper-active scouse bastards on here to spew their venom. We didn’t find any of those comments remotely courteous/balanced enough to be approved. So needless to say, we duly banned them.

On second thoughts, we should have approved those comments for their sheer entertainment value — sometimes cretinous comments add value, you see!

On third thoughts, hoping for sensible comments from their lot was always going to be one of those false dawns — not too different from their title hopes for the last million years.

An Open Letter to England Fans

Dear England fans,

I am sorry for what happened yesterday. I am sure it wouldn’t have been easy. Seeing a team, as fancied as yours, getting knocked out of a showpiece event would make your summers quite hard to negotiate. But let’s not talk too much about next summer. Let’s talk about the present.

It must be slightly unnerving seeing a team managed by the Clown. You couldn’t be blamed for it, could you? After all you were clamouring for a foreign manager, after the sacking of Sven. Or was it English? Bah! I forget.

On Manchester United’s ‘Greatest Ever’ Squad

Manchester United ‘99 Champions’ League Squad
There has been a lot going on these days about United’s greatest squad ever. Depending on which paper you read, apart from the bit on Arsene’s ‘kids’, our squad is the most talked up thing these days.

All this, of course, started when SAF first said that this squad is his best ever. Perhaps he was talking in terms of its potential. But of course, that wouldn’t stop us from asking questions if this is, indeed, our best squad ever. A lazy, but fairly accurate, answer would be to dismiss this question as the answer would be subjective, and grossly unfair. (Cue: All those dodgy best footballers lists.)

So, Should We Still Have This Berbatov Discussion?

Berbatov

I haven’t been in a habit of putting up images in my posts, lately. Although something — and some common sense — tells me that this site would look a whole lot better with a few pics here and there. So I thought I’d get the Berbatov pic in. And I hope I do manage to get a pic up, however irrelevant it may be, every now and then. However, be warned that you wouldn’t see too much of, what they call, eye-candy; more a space filling device than anything else.

Scholes Out for Three Months. Great News?

So while I saw this earlier in the morning in the Lancashire Evening Post (irony?) I was holding off till I got to hear something more official. Well, here it is now as a spokesperson from Manutd.com confirms the news.

As we know his first scan was inconclusive he was sent for a second scan, the results of which, has now been revealed as knee ligament damage.

Scholesy has to now go for an operation to get his knee fixed.

Why We Love John O’Shea

I’ve been trawling through pages randomly when I bumped across this article on the Telegraph. It started off like the usual articles one gets to read on the back of a great performance by United. The usual stuff — on this occasion, bringing Rooney’s birthday into perspective, as if his day had an astral significance on events that unfolded in Kiev — punctuated the article, with facts that United’s injury ‘crisis’ hasn’t really affected their play.

But it was towards the end of the page that I came upon these quotes from our Utility Man.

Manchester United Player Ratings: The Defence

This is the final part of our three part series, where we take a look at our players’ performances so far this season. For the benefit of those who haven’t read the previous two — where we profiled the attack and midfield — here is Part I and Part II for you.

So sit back and read on as we get through what was, basically, an excuse to get through this international break which, by the way, has been going on forever.

Manchester United Player Ratings: The Midfield

This is part two of our three part series, looking back at our season so far. Player ratings are, admittedly, an objective way of looking at things. But with the current break giving us only pointless transfer rumours to chew about, we might as well look back at some of our players who’ve featured so far.

For those who missed Part I where we dwelt on our attackers, you can have a look at that here.

Today, as mentioned in the title, we will be taking a look at the midfield — more specifically this will be central midfield. We discussed wingers along with our attackers.

Manchester United Player Ratings: The Attack

Now that the international break is well underway, it could be a fair enough time to look back at the season so far and reflect on the team’s performance. Well, it wasn’t necessarily electrifying to start with, but things have been picking up and, hopefully, we’ll continue in the same vein as we left off against Wigan.

So let’s look at our players — those who have played in the team — one by one.
