Allow Me This Indulgence…

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 10:00

… yes, dear readers, indulge me this day. Today I will talk about myself.

It was one year to this day that this site was launched.

So here is wishing this site a very happy anniversary (bloggiversary?)

Soccerlens Readers’ Choice Awards

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 9:19

This is to enlighten readers of this site that Soccerlens has launched it’s first Blogging Awards.

I would also like to mention that this site was not nominated for any of the categories. But then, as you may have seen, I don’t write for awards. They are incidental, you know — actually pointless. And of course, I certainly have more class than these lowly awards. I mean, who cares?

Oh, and a fox cried “Sour Grapes!”.

Anyway, honestly though, I would recommend you all to head over to Soccerlens and vote for the various categories — and trust me, there are quite a few excellent blogs out there; some of which you may have never heard of before. Personally, I was pleased to see top notch ones like 200Percent and Pitch Invasion get nominated, among others.

More than the voting, such awards serve to bring into focus a lot of quality content on the web that one may not have stumbled upon earlier, and this is a good chance for readers to find more such blogs to waste time.

Happy voting.

Update on Red Rants

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 20:10

This site is not down. It is very much alive. I am finally home and free from jet lag. And I certainly promise to bring RR back to it’s glory days. :)

About the Newcastle game report, I will write one. I missed the game but I still did watch the entire recorded match. So I will get a small report. Surely, our biggest win of this season deserves a match report?

Also I will get back to discussing United rumours and news.

And I will get to this soon. Before signing off, here’s the video of the Newcastle game again [Motd].

Commenting Policy

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 9:30

This was in the works for a while now and we had to do it now to regulate things here. Don’t get scared by the size of it, but our comments policy is pretty reasonable. We don’t limit your opinions on United or football for that matter. You just have to be nice. Well not nice in the sugary sweet way but in a more I’ll play fair kind of way.

Anyway, here’s the Red Rants Comments Policy. Kindly take the time to read this through.

That. Is. All.

United We Rant: Vent Your Spleen

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 10:49

A lot of you United fans might have certainly heard of United Rant a well written Man United fanzine that a lot of us read often. However, it’s mysteriously never been updated; not for the past six months leaving many people wondering what on earth ever happened to the site.

A Word To Some Departed Souls

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 9:40

Antonio Puerta of Sevilla passed away last Sunday. It is an extremely sad day for the club, his family and for the rest of the footballing brethren.

Tim Stannard, the Football 365 La Liga columnist, who writes on his own blog Laligaloca has a tribute post for him. He mentions that he was more or less a Dani Alves equivalent on the left side of Sevilla. Another important cog in the smooth machine that was Sevilla over the past seasons, he was particularly known for his wonder goal that took Sevilla to the UEFA cup final.

May his soul rest in peace.

Tim Stannard’s article

Similarly, our condolences to the family of the young Rhys Jones. We also feel sad for the family of QPR striker Ray Jones who was killed in a car crash.

May your souls RIP. The footballing community is united in your grief.

The Best Manchester United Blog Right Here, Right Now

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 11:10

My site was nominated for Best Sports Blog!Forgive us for our vanity, but allow us a little self indulgence here. I am sure a lot of you might even scoff at our cheeky little hope of expecting to become the best Manchester United fan blog, leave alone the Sports Blog of the year, given we haven’t even been here for that long, relative to other biggies, to command such a response. But we do acknowledge and believe that there are plenty people out there (at least that’s what our stats software wants us to believe!) who visit this site, and feel ‘enlightened’ by our coverage of all things concerning the Reds.

So here’s what we think you could help us do.

The Ultimate Manchester United Stats Page

Tag: Site NewsRed Ranter @ 10:00

Well, not the ultimate, but if you want an objective snapshot of how well United are doing this season without bothering for all the analysis and gibberish that yours truly spouts forth in this site, look no further.

We have launched our brand new Stats and Match reports page dedicated to Manchester United. We feature the fixture list with the result and our match reports for the respective games. We also link to highlights to those games, which are of course hosted in some third party website. So in case they are broken, do not blame us. (Although, you could let us know.)

We also have an injury table, goal scorers/assists and a mini league table that will show 2 teams above and two below us. Although, honestly, we fervently hope we do not have to display any club above us, come the end of the season!

So go ahead and visit the page. We also greatly welcome suggestions to help improve the stats page to make it more comprehensive and at the same time, not too overwhelming.

Let us know what you think in the comments or via the Contact Form.
